  • The purpose of this study was to develop a hybrid model forecasting the optimal number of employees for the hotel MICE and investigate indicators' reliability and validity empirically. The dominant approach of manpower planning has long been conducted based on heuristic experience in the field of Hotel and MICE. There is little research on the manpower planning and forecasting in the hotel and MICE studies. However, it is significantly important to ensure how many the optimal number of employees are calculated to meet the goals of the company as well as the expectation of their customers. A focus group interview was used to collect data through a series of surveys. A total of 289 samples were collected to test validity of finalized indicators for forecasting the optimal number of employees for the Hotel MICE. The study developed 15 quantitative indicators and 19 qualitative indicators to forecasting the optimal number of employees for the Hotel MICE, based on three types of groups such as 'service-oriented', 'stability-oriented', and 'profitability-oriented' hotel company The study revealed the econometrics formula for the practical application for this field.

  • The purpose of this study was to seek for solutions of activating convention hotels entering to the newly created market, focused on the case study of the convention hotel in KangwonLand in the competitive MICE environment. According to the analysis for reception setup for MICE, it is urgently required to improve shopping facilities, securing manpower, the accessibilities in KangwonLand convention hotel. This study suggests several ways to identify differentiation such as facilities discriminations, reasonable prices when holding conventions/events. It is also proposed that there is a need to focus incentive tour when marketing. To succeed in hosting events of MICE at the convention hotel, it appears to be considered to host large scale of domestic or overseas events, to measure reasonable room rates, promote niche market through middle or small scale events, attract customers to revisit and save transportation costs for participants. From the study, it is expected to find efficient ways to activate convention hotels through MICE market entry.

The results revealed that significant differences in these four dimensions of the sustainable MICE were perceived by domestic and international participants. The largest difference were perceived by domestic and international participants with respect to the environmental sustainability factor. The mean scores indicated that international participants tended to give higher evaluations than domestic participants. Second, there were statistically significant relationships among economic, environmental, and event sustainability factors and customer loyalty from the perspective of international participants. For domestic participants, only event sustainability had a vital relationship with customer loyalty. The study implied how policy makers and the MICE managers should adopt four dimensions of sustainability to establish a harmonious and sustainable MICE practices.

  • In order to determine the possibility that Chrysanthemum indicum L. cultured with Lactococcus lactis (CILL) is a material for obesity suppression food, the body weight, body fat mass, and T cells were determined in C57BL/6 mice induced by a high fat diet. The CILL (25.15±2.44 g) demonstrated weight loss from week 4 onward and maintained a low weight gain from week 1 to week 8 (1.00±0.53 g). The 8-week body weight (30.38±4.17 g) indicated loss of 13.15% when compared to the HFD (60% high fat diet, 34.99±2.09 g). Fat mass decreased to 10.3022±2.8813 g, and the absolute liver weight decreased relative to that in the HFD. CD4+ T cells were 4.84±1.33%, CD8+ T cells 7.02±2.26%, and CD4+CD8+ T cells 1.46±0.81%, which were all higher than those in the HFD. As a result, CILL can be used as a material for preventing obesity as an effective measure toward reducing weight when consumed orally.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the importance and satisfaction of exhibition and convention destinations from the MICE(meeting, incentive tour, convention, and exhibition) planners. Overall, four results were revealed from this study. First, considering the importance of selection attributes, soundproofing, lighting, temperature, A V facilities, the space of main convention hall and exhibition were the most important attributes. Second, hypothesis 1 suggested that there were statistically significant differences in the attributes of convention destination selection based on the socio-demographic variables. More specifically, a statistically significant was found in the 17 attributes out of 5 factors and 4 demographic variables. Third, hypothesis 2 suggested that there were statistically significant in the attributes of convention destination selection based on the planning characteristics of MICE. For instance, statistically significants were found 9 attributes out of 5 factors and the 4 planning characteristics. Fourth, the regional space of exhibition and convention was the most influential to the intention to revisit, followed by exhibition and convention facilities and use cost. And also, considering the recommendation to the other MICE planners who recently have used exhibition and convention centers, the facilities was the most influential, followed by use cost and tourism space surrounding exhibition and convention centers.

  • This research has examined in depth professional books, advance research, related statistics, and internet data to present security environment changes and countermeasures that may arise due to changes in the domestic hospitality industry. The Hospitality industry characteristics and the trend of change at home and abroad were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, the global hospitality industry has minimized the negative impact of the gambling industry held by casinos through Integrated Resorts, and confirmed that the individual characteristics of various hospitality industries, such as Hotels, MICE, Performances and Shopping, have been developed in such a way that they can exert positive synergy. It has confirmed that South Korea is also trying to revitalize its sluggish economic growth by setting up strategies for industrializing the Integrated Resort and developing the Integrated Resort industry. Based on this, the security environment changes that could occur in individual Integrated Resort companies and the region were expected from five perspectives, and three levels of government/industry/personal response measures were proposed for effective response to changes in the security environment.
