Efficient Image Segmentation Using Morphological Watershed Algorithm (형태학적 워터쉐드 알고리즘을 이용한 효율적인 영상분할)

  • This paper discusses an efficient image segmentation using morphological watershed algorithm that is robust to noise. Morphological image segmentation consists of four steps: image simplification, computation of gradient image and watershed algorithm and region merging. Conventional watershed segmentation exhibits a serious weakness for over-segmentation of images. In this paper we present a morphological edge detection methods for detecting edges under noisy condition and apply our watershed algorithm to the resulting gradient images and merge regions using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for eliminating irrelevant regions in the resulting segmented images. Experimental results are analyzed in both qualitative analysis through visual inspection and quantitative analysis with percentage error as well as computational time needed to segment images. The proposed algorithm can efficiently improve segmentation accuracy and significantly reduce the speed of computational time.

  • 유방 질만 분석을 위한 병리진단에서는 암종세포의 세관형성 정도와 핵의 다형성과 유사분말정도를 기준으로 하여 나누는 방법이 용이하고 재현성이 높다. 그 중에서도 세포핵의 크기와 다형성, 핵과 세포질의 비율은 양성종양과 악성종양을 분류하는데 있어서 중요한 요소중의 하나이다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 유방 질단 영상에서 세포핵을 추출하여, 핵의 형태학적 특징값인 핵의 연적 둘레, 가로·세로(장·단축)의 길이를 구하고 핵과 세포질의 비율을 계산한 후, 추출한 형태학적 특성 칸들이 양성종양과 악성종양으로 분류하는데 있어서 유의한 특성 값인지 비교·분석하였다.

  • To clarify the key characteristics of Korean brown frogs (R. dybowskii, R. huanrenesis and R. amurensis coreana), this study employed a morphological and morphometrical comparisons among brown frogs found in Korea and Japanese endemic species, R. tsushimensis. As a result, it was considered that the key characteristics were the shape of the finger and toe tips, the markings of the lower jaw, the presence or absence of an upper lip line, the development of toe webbing, and the shape of the vomerine teeth series by morphological comparisons of brown frogs. Also, there were significant differences in tympanum diameters and foot lengths of the four species of brown frogs. Therefore, a comparison between morphological and morphometric characters is an effective way to clarify the identification of brown frogs.

3D morphological analysis of uterine tumor cell (자궁종양 세포의 3차원 형태학적 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 자궁종양 세포를 정상, 비정상으로 진단하기 위한 세포핵의 특성값 추출 방법으로 3차원 형태학적 분석 방법을 제안한다. 컨포컬 현미경을 이용하여 3차원 볼륭데이터를 획득하고 3차원 연결 성분 레이블링을 적용하였다 레이블링 후, 각각의 세포핵으로부터 3차원 형태학적 특성값을 추출하였으며 정상세포핵과 비정상세포핵의 3차원 형태계측에 대한 차이를 비교하였다. 이는 잘린 단면의 각도나 두께에 따라 서로 다른 분석 결과를 나타내는 2차원 영상분석방법의 한계를 극복할 수 있으며 실체에 가까운 계측으로 보다 객관적이고 정확한 병리진단을 위한 보조도구로써 활용될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 폐암의 변이 형태 분석을 위한 정량적 분석 방법을 연구하였다. 보다 객관적인 분석의 필수적 요인인 정확한 분할을 이해 질감 특징과 통계학적 분류방법을 이용하였으며, 변이 형태 분석을 위해서 분할된 ROI 로부터 여러 가지 형태학적 특성값과 질감 특성값을 추출하여 변이 형태에 따라 비교분석하였다. 이러한 폐암의 변이 형태 분석을 위한 방법은 다른 기관으로의 원격전이가 쉬운 종양의 특성평가에 대한 객관적 병리진단의 보조도구로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 논문은 영상에서 형태적 정보를 추출하는데 사용되는 수학적 형태학(mathematical morphology)에 퍼지 집합 이론을 적용하여 새로운 퍼지 수학적 형태학을 제안한다. 일반적인 수학적 형태학은 이진 영상에만 적용되는 한계를 가지고 있었다. 이를 그레이 스케일 영상에도 적용 가능하도록 한 Sinha와 Dougherty[8]이 제안한 방법도 기하학적 형태 변환을 보장하지 못하는 결점이 있었는데 본 논문에서는 그 결점을 제거하는 새로운 수축(erosion)과 확장(dilation) 연산을 정의하고 그 특성을 연구하였다. 본 논문이 제안한 방법과 [8]의 방법을 실제 영상에 대한 실험으로 비교하였다.

It can be an essential factor amThe main objective of this study is to extract of the geometric characteristics of the Pyongchang River basin, headwaters of the South Ran River. A GIS is capable of extracting various hydrological factors from DEM(digital elevation mong various geometric characteristics of watershed. In this study, watershed itself and other geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using a GIS technique. The manual process of tasks to obtain geometric characteristics of watershed is automated. by using the function of ARC/INFO software as a GIS package. Scanned data is used for this study and it is converted to DEM data Various forms of representation of spatial data are handled in main modules and a GRID module of ARC/INFO. A GRID module is used on a stream in order to define watershed boundary, so it would be possible to obtain the watersheds. Also, a flowdirection, stream networks and others are generated. The results show that GIS can aid watershed management and research and surveillance. Also the geometric characteristics as parameters of watershed can be quantified by a using GIS technique. Resonable results can be obtained as compared with conventional graphic methods.

  • The Purpose of this study was to compare the dento-skeletal characteristics between functional and skeletal anterior cross-bite patients. Twenty-eight functional anterior cross-bite patients and thirty-one skeletal anterior cross-bite patients were selected as a test and a control group. Mean ages of the test and the control group were $9.6{\pm}1.8$ and $9.9{\pm}1.9$, respectively. Lateral cephalograms were taken. Forty-nine cephalometric variables were measured and statistical analysis was performed to find the morphological differences between the groups. Statistically significant differences were found in the cephalometric variables of cranial deflection, maxillary depth, ANB, convexity, NPo-AB, APDI, Mx 1-SN, Mx 1-NA angle, Mx 1-NA, Md 1-NB angle and Md 1-NB. The test group showed more Class III growth potential, more protruded maxilla, lesser maxillo-mandibular difference, more uprighted and retruded maxillary central incisor, more labially tipped and protruded mandibular central incisor.

Proximal-type Epithelioid Sarcoma Involving Perineum - Case Report - (회음부를 침범한 근위형 유상피육종 - 증례보고 -)

  • Epithelioid sarcoma has been well characterized as a distincitve entity. In the classic form, it occurs in the distal extremities of young adults. However, in the proximal form, it was found mostly in the pelvis, perineum, and genital tract of young to middle-aged adults. Morphologically, the tumor cells had promient epithelioid or rhabdoid features with marked cytologic atypia, and grew in a multinodular pattern. Immunohistochemically, cytokeratin, epithelial membrane antigen, and vimentin were positive in the tumor cells. This reports dealt with 32-year-old male lesion on his perineum. The tumor shows typical features of proximal type epithelioid sarcoma. We also discussed pathological differential diagnosis and prognosis on this particular disease.
