Fabrication and characteristics of TFEL device using phosphor layer ZnS:Mn/$ZnS:TbF_{3}$ slatted structure (ZnS:Mn/$ZnS:TbF_{3}$ 적층구조의 형광층을 이용한 TFEL소자의 제작 및 그 특성)

  • The thin-film eletroluminescent (TFEL) device having the stacked structure of ZnS:Mn/$ZnS:TbF_{3}$ has been fabricated. Insulate layers used (Pb,La)$TiO_{3}$ and $SiO_{2}$ thin films. The emission color was white. The TFEL device employing ZnS:Mn/$ZnS:TbF_{3}(8000{\AA})$ stacked phosphor layers showed the threshold voltage of $78V_{rms}$. And the brightness of the TFEL device was $400{\mu}W/cm^{2}$ at the applied voltage of $100V_{rms}$. The emission spectrum of TFEL device had a wavelength from 450nm to 620nm. The manufactured devices can be a practical use as a TFEL devices of red, green and blue by using the color filters.

  • Ethylene glycol (EG) is the most commonly used for automotive antifreeze, and it's easily misuseful for human. EG poisoning occurs in suicide attempts and infrequently, either intentionally through misuse or accidentally because of sweet taste. Though EG itself is mild toxic to the human body, it becomes higher toxic organic acids by in vivo broken down that are responsible for extensive cellular damage in various tissues caused principally by the metabolites. It is already well known that various cellular stresses induce gene expression of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) chaperones and ER stress sensors. This study demonstrated that regulation of gene expression of ER chaperones and ER stress sensors was induced by EG in rat tissues, and in tissues histological changes are also detected by both staining H&E and immunofluorescent.

  • $Eu^{2+}$-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ and $Eu^{2+}$, $Dy^{3+}$ co-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ phosphors have been synthesized by conventional solid state method. Photocurrent properties of $Eu^{2+}$ doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ and $Eu^{2+}$, $Dy^{3+}$ co-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ phosphors, in order to elucidate $Dy^{3+}$ co-doping effect, during and after ceasing ultraviolet-ray (UV) irradiation have been investigated. The photocurrent of $Eu^{2+}$, $Dy^{3+}$ co-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ phosphors during UV irradiation was 4-times lower than that of $Eu^{2+}$-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ during UV irradiation, and 7-times higher than that of $Eu^{2+}$-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ after ceasing UV irradiation. The photocurrent results indicated that holes of charge carriers captured in hole trapping center during the UV irradiation and liberated after-glow process, and made clear that $Dy^{3+}$ of co-dopant acted as a hole trap. The photocurrent of ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ showed a good proportional relationship to UV intensity in the range of $1{\sim}5mW/cm^2$, and $Eu^{2+}$-doped ${SrAl_2}{O_4}$ was confirmed to be a possible UV sensor.

  • Manganese, copper and chlorine-doped ZnS phosphors (ZnS:Mn,Cu,Cl) were synthesized through solid-state reaction. Manganese was added in the range of amount $1.4{\sim}5.3$ mol % to ZnS phosphors containing 0.2 or 1.0 mol % of copper and a small amount of chlorine. As-synthesized phosphors showed a spherical morphology with a mean size of ${\sim}20\;{\mu}m$ and structural properties of Wurtzite, which were identified by SEM and XRD, respectively. Optical properties of ZnS:Mn,Cu,Cl synthesized with various concentrations of activators were analysed by both of PL and EL spectra. Samples mainly showing only 580 nm-orange emission by 380 nm-UV excitation gave different EL spectra of blue, green, and orange emissions at 450, 480 and 580 nm, respectively, depending on concentrations of $Cu^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$.

  • A Polymer material, PU-BCN and a low molar mass material D-BCN with the same chromophore were evaluated by fabricating various electroluminescent(EL) devices. A molecular structure of the chromophore was composed as two cyano groups for electron-injection and transport and two triphenylamine groups for hole-injection and transport. Various kinds of EL devices with two different types of EL materials, PU-BCN and D-BCN were fabricated, which were an Indium-tin oxide(ITO)/PU-BCN or D-BCN/MgAg device as a single-layer device(SL) and an ITO/PU-BCN or D-BCN/oxadiazole ferivative/MgAg as a double-layer device(DL-E) and an ITO/triphenylamine derivative/D-BCN/MgAg as a double-layer device(DL-H) device. Two kinds of materials, PU-BCN and D-BCN showed the same emission characteristics in the high current density and excellent EL characteristics even in the SL devices. Maximum EL peaks revealed red emission of about 640 nm, which were corresponded with the fluorescence peaks of the films of two materials.

Improvements in Solar Cell Efficiency using a PMMA Concentrator Lens for Indoor Use (실내조명 응용을 위한 투명 집광 렌즈를 이용한 태양전지 효율 향상)

  • Improvements in characteristics of a single junction AlGaAs/GaAs solar cell are observed by capping a PMMA lens on it. In order to show the effect of the lens, characteristics of a single junction AlGaAs/GaAs solar cell before and after the lens formation are compared under the one-sun illumination condition ($100mW/cm^2$). Characteristics of the solar cell under very weak illumination condition (about 1200 lux) is also measured with the lighting of a fluorescent desk lamp. About 5% of cell efficiency is improved after the capping of PMMA lens on the single junction AlGaAs solar cell and $83\;{\mu}m/cm^2$ of electrical power was generated with the lighting of a desk lamp.

  • In this study, the $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLDs are fabricated and their trap parameters are determined. The optimum concentration of Eu for fabrication of the $CaSO_4:Eu$ TLD is 0.5 mol% and optimum temperature is $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours sintering in air. The glow curve of $CaSO_4:Eu$ consists of two glow peaks and these peaks are isolated by thermal bleaching method. Trap parameters of two glow peaks are measured using the initial rise, the peak shape, the heating rate and the least square curve fitting methods. The activation energies of the glow peak I and II are 1.00 eV and 1.09 eV, and the frequency factors are $7.04{\times}10^{11}\;s^{-1}$ and $5.12{\times}10^{11}\;s^{-1}$ and the kinetic orders are 1.11 and 1.33, respectively.

  • Changes in transmission and thermoluminescent characteristics were used in order to find out the optimum growth condition of CsI single crystal scintillators which were made relatively defect-free using Czochralski method. Impurity distribution in the crystals and the intensity and number of thermoluminescent glow peaks decreased as the process of crystallization was repeated. The direction of crystal growth turned out to be (110), the crystal structure of grown CsI was bee, and its lattice constant was found to be $4.568{\AA}$. The activation energy (trap depths) of CsI:3rd was 0.45 eV and its frequency factor was $5.18{\times}10^5\;sec^{-1}$.

  • 오염원과 취수원이 인접한 위치에 존재하는 국내 하천 같은 경우 취수 시설의 안전한 관리를 위하여 오염물의 2차원 혼합 거동에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 하천에서의 오염물 혼합 거동을 분석하기 위하여 일반적으로 농도와 분산 정보 수집을 위한 추적자 실험을 수행해왔다. 기존에 수행된 추적자 실험들은 형광염료, 방사선 물질, 고형 물질 등과 같은 추적자를 인위적으로 주입하여 사용하였다. 그러나 수온, 전기전도도(electrical conductivity), 이온화 물질 등과 같은 자연 추적자(natural tracers)를 이용하는 추적자 실험은 인공추적자 물질을 대체할 수 있는 방안으로서, 기존 추적자 실험과 비교하여 경제적, 환경적인 효과와 하폭이 넓은 중규모 이상의 하천에서도 수행할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 진천천과 금호강이 합류하는 낙동강 중류 구간에서 횡혼합 연구를 위하여 전기 전도도 추적 실험을 수행하였다. 강정고령보 직하류에서 낙동강 좌안쪽에서 합류하는 금호강과 진천천의 경우 인근 공업단지와 하폐수처리장으로부터 많은 비점오염원과 점오염원이 유입된다. 두곳의 지류에서 모두 높게 측정되었던 전기전도도를 자연 추적자로 선택하였다. 지류의 경우 전기전도도를 측정할 수 있는 센서를 측정 지점에 설치하여 측정하였으며, 본류인 낙동강의 경우 정해진 측선을 따라 센서가 고정된 보트를 이동하며 데이터를 취득하였다. 지류인 금호강과 진천천의 경우, 합류 전 전기전도도의 농도의 횡분포는 균일한 분포를 나타냈으며 농도의 평균값은 합류 전 낙동강 본류의 기저농도 보다 더 높은 값을 나타내었다. 지류 합류 이후의 낙동강 본류에서는 지류로부터 유입된 오염물질로 인하여 횡방향으로 불균등한 전기전도도 농도 분포를 나타내었으며 오염물질이 점점 하류 쪽으로 이동하면서, 횡방향 농도경사의 크기가 줄어들었다. 유관모멘트법을 농도곡선에 적용하여 횡방향 분산계수를 산정하였다. 산정된 횡분산계수의 값은 Rutherford (1994)가 제안한 분산계수의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 반도체 및 디스플레이 소자 제조를 위한 진공 플라즈마는 다양한 공정 조건하에서 다양한 공정 가스의 물리화학적 반응에 의한 박막의 형석 및 식각 반응을 유도한다. 실 공정 하에서 기체 성분의 환경 조건에 의하여 박막층 및 식각 구조 형성에 심각한 영향이 발생할 수 있으며, 공정 조건에서 기체 압력을 완벽하게 컨트롤 하는 것은 현실상 불가능하므로 기체 부분압력이 실시간으로 반드시 모니터링 되고 이를 피드백으로 하여 압력 변수가 조정되어야 완벽하게 공정을 제어할 수 있다. 이를 위하여 현장에서 플라즈마 공정을 실시간 in-situ 모니터링 할 수 있는 다양한 진단 방법이 도입되고 있으며 접촉신 진단 방법은 플라즈마와 섭동으로 인한 교란을 유발하고, 이온에너지 측정의 한계가 존재하며 비접촉식 방법 중의 하나인 유도형광법(LIF)은 측정 물질의 제한으로 인하여 플라즈마 내에 존재하는 다양한 가스 종의 거동을 살필 수 없는 등 현실 적용 측면에서 실 공정에 적용하는데 단점이 존재한다. 공정 상태 및 RF에 의한 영향을 주고받지 않고, 민감한 공정 변화의 감지 및 혼합가스를 사용하는 실시간 공정 진단을 위하여 비접촉 광학 측정 방식인 발광 분광 분석법(optical emission spectroscopy, OES)이 각광받고 있으며, 본 강습에서는 분광학의 기본 개념 및 OES를 이용한 진공 플라즈마 진단 방법에 관한 전반적인 개요를 설명하도록 한다
