  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has long been studying the essential elements of manned planetary exploration and has held several international challenges to encourage the research works related to it. One of them was the NASA Centennial Challenge Programs which started in 2015. Following the second in 2017, the third is currently going on in 2019. Participating "3D-Printed Habitat Challenge", one of the challenges in the second program, this research team designed and developed the 3D printer extruding module for the Lunar Simulant (Korea Hanyang Lunar Simulant-1; KOHLS-1) and the polymer. For optimizing the modul, a cylindrical specimen of ${\varnothing}150{\times}300mm^3$ volume and a specimen of $200{\times}100{\times}650mm^3$ volume were manufactured and their compressive and flexural strengths were tested. The findings can help automatize the space construction in the future.

  • New technologies such as the IoT, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence, starting from the Web, mobile, and smart device, enable new business models that did not exist before, and various types of Internet companies based on these business models has been emerged. In this research, we examine the factors that influence the success and failure of Internet companies. To do this, we review the recent studies on business model and examine the variables affecting the success of Internet companies in terms of network effect, user interface, cooperation with actors, creating value for users. Using the five derived variables, we will select 14 Internet companies that succeeded and failed in seven commercial business model categories. We derive decision tree by applying inductive learning based on ID3 algorithm to the analysis result and derive rules that affect success and failure based on derived decision tree. With these rules, we want to present the strategic implications for actors to succeed in Internet companies.

  • The importance and necessity of convergence research to solve complexity and diversity of research problems is more increasing. For successful convergence research, connectivity beyond the boundary and distance between disciplines is a key factor. To understand the current status and characteristics of connectivity among researchers, we investigated the interdisciplinary relationships among 487 researchers' disciplines in a university by using network anaylsis. The results showed that (1) connectivity between similar disciplines were higher than different disciplines, (2) the density and cohesion level of connectivity within the same campuses were higher, and (3) network centrality was concentrated in engineering and medicine. Based on these results, the necessity of overcoming boundaries and distances as obstacles to convergence research and the necessity of diversification of centrality were proposed. While previous studies mainly analyzed the research outcomes, this study is meaningful because it analyzed researchers' connectivity and collaborative structures in the actual convergence research procedures.

  • The construction industry is heavily dependent on labor force as automation to building constructions is difficult due to its characteristics such on-site production, custom manufacturing production. Thus, while securing and fostering high-quality functional manpower for stable construction work are significant, the construction workforce has been persistently lacking compared to demand. Young workers are reluctant to enter the construction industry due to high labor intensity, unstable employment structure, and uncertainty for the future. The employment rate for new jobs in the construction industry is half as high as in others. Currently, the departments related to construction are organized in specialized high school to conduct training for young workers. The graduates have a low ratio of employment rate to the construction industry and functional capacities fallen short of expectations. In this study, the education and training conditions of specialized high schools were analyzed to derive problems and key improvements of the education system were drawn. As an improvement for the analysis results, it provides solutions such as giving advantages of previous education experience, expand industry-academic cooperation with businesses, and expand links with external educational institutions.

  • This study is a review study attempted to analyze the current situation of surgical robots based on previous research on surgical robots in the era of the 4th revolution, and to forecast the future direction of surgical robots. Surgical robots have made full progress since the launch of the da Vinci and the surgical robot is playing a role of supporting the surgeries of the surgeons or the master-slave method reflecting the intention of the surgeons. Recently, technologies are being developed to combine artificial intelligence and big data with surgical robots, and to commercialize a universal platform rather than a platform dedicated to surgery. Moreover, technologies for automating surgical robots are being developed by generating 3D image data based on diagnostic image data, providing real-time images, and integrating image data into one system. For the development of surgical robots, cooperation with clinicians and engineers, safety management of surgical robot, and institutional support for the use of surgical robots will be required.

  • With the development of information and communication technology and the increasing use of smart devices, universities are using an electronic attendance-absence management system using smart devices to facilitate efficient attendance management. Currently, the electronic attendance-absence management system has the disadvantage of causing an error in attendance when the Wi-Fi connection is not well established because the student's smartphone independently conducts electronic attendance, and it is difficult to manage attendance because the real-time push message transmission function is excluded. In this paper, we propose an electronic attendance-absence management system to prevent irregular attendance, provide real-time attendance results, and solve delays in attendance processing due to Wi-Fi connection problems. The proposed system can prevent delays in attendance processing as a result of irregular attendance because the instructor's smartphone processes proposed system using the Bluetooth communication function of the instructor's smartphone and the students' smartphone. In addition, it has the advantage of being able to notice management result in real time with the push message server.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the experience and meaning of health domain in physical education practice process for female students, which can be used online. This study would like to provide physical education teachers with implications to revitalize female students' physical education. The research method used case study. Data composition and analysis used group interviews, in-depth interviews and field data. The results of study was first, the changes in classes and school sports after COVID-19 were divided into self-portraits of reality and school sports in COVID-19. Second, the new challenge was categorized into the practice process of the new online class in physical education and the change of movement for oneself. The discussion suggested the need for sympathetic consideration and communication in Corona-19, a path from crisis to opportunity. Follow-up studies should continue to study about girls' various experience participated in physical education classes, collaboration of the teacher learning community that teaches girls' classes and utilizing method of platforms and ICT that can motivate girls' physical education classes.

  • Ill-structured problems have drawn attention in that they can enhance problem-solving skills, which are essential in future societies. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate students' spatial reasoning(Intrinsic-Static, Intrinsic-Dynamic, Extrinsic-Static, and Extrinsic-Dynamic reasoning) and problem solving abilities(understanding problems and exploring strategies, executing plans and reflecting, collaborative problem-solving, mathematical modeling) that appear in ill-structured problem-solving. To solve the research questions, two ill-structured problems based on the geometry domain were created and 11 lessons were given. The results are as follows. First, spatial reasoning ability of sixth-graders was mainly distributed at the mid-upper level. Students solved the extrinsic reasoning activities more easily than the intrinsic reasoning activities. Also, more analytical and higher level of spatial reasoning are shown when students applied functions of other mathematical domains, such as computation and measurement. This shows that geometric learning with high connectivity is valuable. Second, the 'problem-solving ability' was mainly distributed at the median level. A number of errors were found in the strategy exploration and the reflection processes. Also, students exchanged there opinion well, but the decision making was not. There were differences in participation and quality of interaction depending on the face-to-face and web-based environment. Furthermore, mathematical modeling element was generally performed successfully.

  • Messages exchanged among vehicles must be authenticated in order to provide collision avoidance and cooperative driving services in VANET. However, digitally signing the messages can violate the privacy of users. Therefore, we require authentication systems that can provide conditional anonymity. Recently, Zhang et al. proposed conditionally anonymous authentication system for VANET using tamper-resistant hardware. In their system, vehicles can generate identity-based public keys by themselves and use them to sign messages. Moreover, they use batch verification to effectively verify signed messages. In this paper, we provide amelioration to Zhang et al.'s system in the following respects. First, we use a more efficient probabilistic signature scheme. Second, unlike Zhang et al., we use a security proven batch verification scheme. We also provide effective solutions for key revocation and anonymity revocation problems.
