A Study on the Development of the Local Collection in Public Libraries (공공도서관 지역특성화장서 구축 방안 연구)

  • This study illustrates the necessity and feasible process of constructing local collections in public libraries. One of the important responsibilities of public libraries is to collect, preserve, and provide local information in order to enhance the identity of the region and local culture and to maintain and preserve the social memory of the community. However, as the subjects and types of local information are diverse and are owned and scattered by various persons and organizations in the local community, it is difficult to collect materials and build collections. There is, as a result, a lot of confusion in the library field. Focusing on the case of a few public libraries that hold good local collections, this study attempted to add suggestions to build a local collection containing regional history and locality and to promote related services.

  • In this study, based on the results of analyzing the facilities and operation of the public libraries in Iksan, several strategies that may contribute to its regional development have been established. The strategies are as follows. The first one is to hire more librarians to perform the role of libraries at the advanced level that are suitable for the ever-growing library facilities. The second is the plan for specialization of the libraries, which was proposed with each subject suitable for each library such as History Culture, Modern and Local Culture, Jewelry and Precious metal, Food Cluster, Female, Administration & Welfare, and Environment & Ecology by matching the urban policies and characteristics of Iksan with these library. The others are the operation of English library in the way suggested in this study and the establishment of youth library to build up the role of the libraries in educational city. Through these strategies, the overall function and role of the public libraries in Iksan can be strengthened and emphasized.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the importance of the stone cultural landscape resources is a kind of management of Jeju cultural landscape. For typical stone cultural landscape of Jeju, to target South Korea and China experts, to evaluate the importance of each resource. Using the AHP technique in the method of analysis. As a result of the importance analysis of evaluation criteria, Korean and Chinese experts evaluated the Outstanding Universal Value(ⅲ_To bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living or which has disappeared) as the most important. and Experts from both countries evaluated the field walls as the most important landscape resource in importance of resources about each evaluation criteria and overall importance. The results of this study, it will be able to provide quantitative information in terms of landscape management of Jeju by deriving the priority of the resources from the standpoint of comparison and conservation management on the importance of local resources, which is the basis useful from the point of view of conservation and cultural heritage management about stone cultural landscape resources in Jeju. However, as South Korea and China in the comparative study, to generalize the global universal value it is seen that there is a limit, seems to limit point of this study.

A Study about Assessment on Operation Program of Local Festivals (향토지역축제 운영프로그램 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims at assessment of local festivals focused on analysis of operation program for local festivals held in Jeonbuk province. The subjects were 65 local festivals held in Jeonbuk in 2010 excluding festivals held in province, county, and town level, and those held with single purpose. Type of festivals were classified to type for residents' unity, tourism, industry, and special purpose type. The portion was industry type 36.9%, type for residents' unity 23.1% in the order. By theme, animal, plant, nature phenomenon, history, culture and tradition, special product, regional industry were classified - the portion was special product 36.9%, culture and tradition 24.6%, history 13.8%. Assessment of operation program was conducted with assessment indexes such as compliance with theme, uniqueness, diversity, effect of experience, size, educational effect, and entertainment. As a result, it appeared that because local festivals of Jeonbuk had high uniqueness, duplication of program between local festivals was very low and educational effect was comparatively high. On the other hand, because entertainment and effect of experience was very low, considerations of entertainment and effect of experience are necessary in planning of program.

  • 제주는 고래로 독특한 민속문화의 경관을 가꾸어 왔다. 이런 이유로 제주의 주된 산업으로 관광이 떠오르게 되었고 60년대 이래 꾸준히 향토성 건축이 문제로 되었다. 그렇지만 아직은 경제적 여건이 선진국 반열에 끼기에는 열악한 조건이었기 때문에 생산건축의 수준에 만족하고 있었지 아방가르적인 작품은 소수에 불과했었다. 이런 가운데 사회는 개방화 정보화로 진입하게 되고 경제는 대량생산의 전기산업사회에서 소량다품종생산의 후기산업사회로 변천하고 있다. 따라서 제주는 외국과의 차별화 문제에 있어 더욱 위협받게 되었고 국내적 위치가 아닌 국제적 범주에서 자신의 아이덴티티를 확보하지 않으면 안되는 위기의 전환기적 상황에 직면하게 되었다. 이에 발맞춰 제주의 건축을 사적 관점에서 돌아보고 해방후의 건축문화의 변화를 살펴보므로서 새로운 제주 건축의 지평을 탐색해 본다는 점은 참으로 의의 있는 일이라 생각한다. 오늘의 논의가 우리에게 어떤 교훈을 줄지는 몰라도 이에 대해 치열한 역사의식을 지니고 천착한다면, 틀림없이 차세대 건축가에서 오늘날 우리의 고뇌와 모순을 해결하는 멋진 답을 찾을 수 있으리라 믿는다. 그러나 중요한 것은 이런 논의 자체를 부정하고 도외시한다면 우리는 영원히 우리의 과제가 무엇인지 찾지 못할 것이며 이에 동참하는 사람의 수가 증가할 때라야 만이 질높은 해답이 찾아질 수 있을 것이다.

Study on Native Local Foods in Andong Region (안동(安東)지역의 향토음식에 관한 고찰)

  • Northern Kyungbuk around Andong is a mountainous and more or less dry region geomorphogically. Since this area located in the valley was less invaded by foreign countries, the folk traditions have been maintained for a long time. Also as the center of Confucian culture, this region respects ceremonies and so, the simple and noble ceremonial-foods such as Ddok, Hankwas, and Buchiki have been firmly preserved in many distinguished families. And besides Andong-Soju, many traditional liquors produced in different methods can be found in this region. As Gogi-Sikhae(a fermented beverage utilizing rice and fish) is still preserved in eastern coastal area, Sosikhae(Sikhae without fish) is maintained in this region and furthermore the unique Andong Sikhae developed by modifying Sosikhae is being consumed currently. Since it is difficult to get fish here geographically, the soybean foods were developed for protein intake, for example, various fermented soybean pastes, Andong-Songuksu(a hand-made noodle using raw soybean flour), and Siragiguk(a vegetable soup).

Proposal for the recreate and Restoration of Local Traditional Cultural Festival by the data Excavation of Ulsan Nyoung-Kun Parade: Focusing on "Guk-Geuk-Yo-Ram" (1932) (『울산농군행렬』, 전통문화를 기반으로 지역 축제 발굴을 위한 토대 연구 -『국극요람』(1932) 기록을 중심으로)

  • Noung-kun(a farmer as a soldier) Parade, one of the Choseon folk plays/dramas, was recorded in its chapter titled of the booklet 'Guk-Geuk-Yo-Ram', which was published in 1932 by Waseda University Tsubouchi Memorial Theater Museum in Tokyo, Japan. The general understanding on the Korean culture of that era was that 'there is no theater in Choseon'. However, a few examples of existence of Korean theater were recorded in the book mentioned above, which was mainly the record of Japanese theater. This study specifically focused on a 'famers' parade' recorded in the chapter 'Traditional theater'. Seok-ha Song, a folklorist, revealed that the Noung-kun parade recorded in that book is a cultural asset of Ulsan. On the basis of these records, this study asserts that the Noung-kunParade is an intangible cultural asset of Ulsan, which had been performed by the local residence of fishing villages during the Japanese Colonial Rule. Therefore, the outcomes of this study would be as follows: First, the clear understanding of Ulsan traditional village festival. Second, the festival is named as 'Ulsan Noung-kun Parade' on the basis of the previous records researched in this study. Finally, I have laid a foundation for full restoration and embodiment of this intangible heritage of Ulsan.

A Study on the Painting's Aesthetic of Namnong Heo Geon's NewNamhwa (남농(南農) 허건(許楗) '신남화(新南畵)'의 회화심미 고찰)

  • Nam Nong Heo Geon(1908-1987) re-recognized and re-created the tradition of Korean Namjong painting by excluding Japanese art forms after liberation. He is a great painter in the Korean art world, who has succeeded and developed Korean Namjong Painting in a modern way, pioneering a new field of 'NewNamhwa' with a composition that fuses modern Western style and real scenery. Based on optimism, Namnong's painting world can be divided into three periods: the 'Namnong Sanin' period in the 1930s, the 'Namnongoesa' period from the mid-1940s to the early 1950s, and the 'the owner of Unlimsanbang' period after that. The Namnong Sanin period is a period in which the painting style handed down from the traditional namhwau family of Sochi and Misan is fully acquired, and the Japanese painting style for the exhibition in Seonjeon is reflected, and the local real scenery is treated a lot, and the two styles are mixed. In the Namnong-oesa period, after liberation, a new formativeness was explored in the traditional Namhwa style. In particular, based on the scenery and sentiments of the southern provinces, he focused on local and landscape paintings, depicting real landscapes with lyricism and local love, while expressing subjects with fast brush strokes, a worndown writing brush, and dry brushes, along with freehand adjustment of shading. The period of the owner of unlimsanbang is in accordance with the flow of modern art to some extent, but is gradually omitted as a composition full of academic fragrance that draws a meaning befitting traditional painting. I painted a lot of lyrical landscapes and pine trees of sumugdamchae. Namnong named it 'NewNamhwa'. Namnong established 'Namhwa Research Institute' and worked hard to nurture his disciples, where Im-in's son Heomun and Namnong's eldest grandson Heojin practiced, continuing the legacy of the 5th generation Unlimsanbang painter.
