  • Microcapsules containing 2, 4, 4'-trichloro-2-hydroxydiphenyl ether and perfumes were prepared by the coacervation using poly (vinyl alcohol) and crosslinking agents. Effects of dispersing agents, core materials, agitating speed and crosslinking agents on microcapsule size were investigated. The mean and deviation of microcapsule diameters decreased with increasing agitation speed. The diameters of m;crocapsules decreased with increasing dispering agent concentration at 6, 000 rpm of agitation speed, but it was not changed at 10, 000 rpm. The dispering effect of PVA is better than that of gum arabic. The slight increase in the diameter of microcapsule was observed when the amount of core material was increased. As the amount of crosslinking agent was increased, the diameter of microcapsule was decreased.

  • The purpose of this study was carried out to investigate medicinal resources herb plants that using through the ages in Korea among the spontaneous and naturalized flavor or frangrant plants and to discuss some way of utilizations of their products to promote human health. Another goal of this study was to collect and systematically synthesize those materials connected with fragrant medicinal plants to serve useful informations on this problems for following researchers. The major findings of this study were as follows ; In Korea, many species of fragrant plants were used for medicinal purpose through the ages. And most of the everyday`s common drugs in Korea's traditional medicine were contained fragrant resources plants as major medicinal material. Therefore, We can find that mast of the fragrant resources plants are very excellent material for traditional medicinal use. At the same time, we should reveal to fragrant material's activity for human health and to investigate the effect of aromatherapy in the future.

  • 먹는 음시이나 마시는 술을 양으로 따지는 한국 사람들은 다른나라 사람보다 후각이 둔한 편이다. 기원 초 로마시대엔 향료가 인간의 쾌락용으로 유럽 상류사회에서는 신분 과시용 악세사리로 애용되었다. 최근 일본에서는 노인체취를 제거하는 향수를 개발했다고 발표하여 화제를 모으고 있다는데. 우리도 무디어진 후각을 살려내어 우리에게 맞는 향을 개발해 생활을 풍요롭게 하는 노력이 아쉽다.

Analysis of Flavor-related Compounds from Tobacco using SPME-GC-MS (SPME-GC-MS를 이용한 담배와 관련된 향료의 분석)

  • The flavor-related compounds contained in tobacco were analyzed by selected ion monitoring (SIM) method using headspace SPME gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Flavor-related compounds were estragole pulegone, trans-anethole, safrole, piperonal, eugenol, methyleugenol, coumarin, trans-isoeugenol, trans-methyleugenol and myristicin. More than on of the flavor-related compounds were detected in the range $0.001-1.3{\mu}g/g$ from all brands of tobacco studied. The recovery was ranged from 89.1 to 102.9% and relative standard deviation was ranged from 2.6 to 25.2%.

  • Synthesis of methyl 3-methyloctanoate, a perfume component isolated from African orchid Aerangis confusa (or Aerangis kirkii) was achieved starting from itaconic acid in 9 steps. Itaconic acid is one of the cheapest organic compounds which is the fermentation product of microorganism Asp. terreus. As the key intermediate, 2-methyl-1,4-butanediol 4-acetate was obtained through the enzymatic regioselective hydrolysis of 2-methyl-1,4-butanediol diacetate with lipase. After Grignard reaction and oxidation, 3-methyloctanoic acid was obtained and converted to the various corresponding scented esters with a variety of alkyl alcohols, and the resulting fragrancy esters are expected to be utilized as the aroma additive materials in cosmetics, drinks and foods.
