This study was conducted to explore the determinants of happiness for Korean Old People. A total of 105 Korean old people responded to open-ended questions about their happiness. From the content analysis of those reponses were happiness-related 70 items derived. Then 200 old people rated themselves on the list of those items. Factor analysis of those data ended up with 33 items of 8 factors, which were ①Family relationship, ②Religion, ③Financial ability, ④Health, ⑤Work/Job, ⑥ Psychological stability, ⑦Leisure, ⑧Public welfare. This Happiness Scale for the Korean old people, Subjective wellbeing Scale, Emotion experience Scale, and Self-esteem Scale were also administered to the identical 200 Korean old people. Results indicated that the construct validity of this new Happiness Scale for Korean old people was obtained. Finally, the implications and limitations of the present study and suggestions for further studies were discussed.
Although several measurements of happiness at work have been developed as interest in it has grown, most of them only deal with hedonia, emotional pleasure, and there exists no measurement of eudaimonia, ultimate happiness through meaning and worthiness in Korea. This study aims to examine the validity of the Korean version of Global Hedonic and Eudaimonic Job Satisfaction (K-GHEJS) scale which covers both hedonia and eudaimonia at work. Considering the job characteristics of social work which emphasizes the values and meaning of the helping profession, online survey was performed among a total of 376 social workers. Exploratory factor analysis confirmed the goodness-of-fit of 10 items, and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that classification as two factors of hedonic and eudaimonic job satisfaction is appropriate. The reliability was found to be high as reliability coefficient Chronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .936. This K-GHEJS scale which measures eudaimonic happiness for the first time in Korea, is expected to be useful for measuring job satisfaction of the helping professions such as social work that pursues the values and meanings of work.

The purpose of this study is to assess construct validity and verify the concept of the Happiness-enhancing Activities and Positive Practices Inventory(HAPPI) developed by Henricksen & Stephens(2013), for Korean old adults who participating physical activities with measuring happiness-related propensity. In this study, the research model was confirmed by evidenced based on the content validity, EFA, construct validity of the latent structure analysis with CFA, reliability as internal consistency. Using self-reported questionnaire conducted among 370 participants who physical activities. Total of 344 data were selected. As a result, internal consistency α was acceptable. Evidence-based on convergent and discriminant of the CFA as GFI=.925, CFI .962, TLI .953, and RMSEA .062 appeared significantly. Model goodness-of-fit, C.R. ratio(Critical ratio: estimates/SE) and Squared Multiple Correlations(SMC), and average variance extracted(AVE) was verified with the hypothesis of the model. Therefore, HAPPI validity evidence for the model fit was confirmed. In conclusion, the HAPPI 4 factors and 16 items(Other-focused, Personal recreation and interests, Achievement, Self-Concordant Work, Spiritual and thought-related) has reliable evidence to apply for Korean old adults and applicable assessment of happiness.

Object : The relationships between the TSQ(Time structure questionnaire) and Well-being were examined. Methods : TSQ and questionnaire about Well-being were executed for 223 university students from April 26th to May 7th, 2010. The questionnaire adapted the item of the TSQ and Korean WHOQOL-BREF, SWLS(Satisfaction with Life Scale), LSES(Life Satisfaction Expectancy Scale), SHS(Subjective Happiness Scale). The questionnaires were distributed directly to the participants. Relativity between the TSQ and questionnaire about Well-being were analyzed using Pearson's correlation analysis. Results : As a result of the relationship between the TSQ and questionnaire about Well-being, overall there was a positive correlation. TSQ(sense of purpose, structured routine, persistence, past orientation) and questionnaire about Well-being showed a statistically significant correlation(p<.05). Conclusion : A structured time use and well-being by investigating the relationship, we were able to see the importance of time management. Currently, clinical occupational therapy focused on performance components, in future, intervention of personal time management to help make ones live well-being.
This study aims to devise a tool which can identify the concept of 'consumption happiness' and to develop a standardized scale to measure consumption happiness. How can we measure consumption happiness? Based on it, the concept and perspective of consumption happiness was formed and then the scale for measuring it was developed. To develop the scale, questions were extracted through a literature survey, an FGI interview was conducted and validity was verified through experts' opinions. Then the scale was developed by conducting a questionnaire survey for consumers. For the analysis of the research, SPSS 20. 0 for Windows and AMOS 17.0 were used and 500 consumers responded to an online survey. In order to examine the general characteristics of the investigation object, the technical statistics of frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation were performed. To develop the research, test-retest correlation, item-to-total correlation, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ reliability, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. The final 20-item consumption happiness scale, which consisted of four factors, was constructed in the end.
This study aims to investigate the relationship between personality, especially temperament and subjective well-being. The participants were 681 college students (211 males and 470 females), whose ages ranged from 17 to 37 (M=20.91, SD=2.36). The instruments utilized in the present study were Korean Version of BAS/BIS Scale, The Big Five Locator, Satisfaction with Life Scale, Life Satisfaction Motivation Scale, Life Satisfaction Expectancy Scale, Emotion Frequency Test, and Subjective Happiness Scale. Result indicated that women expected more positive future than men did, while no gender differences were found in any other well-being variables. Correlational analyses revealed that emotional stability and extroversion were closely associated with life satisfaction, happiness, positive and negative emotion, whereas behavioral activation system (BAS) and behavioral inhibition system (BIS) were more closely associated with motivation to live and expectancy of satisfactory life. There was close relationship between conscientiousness and subjective well-being, because they were college students. As a internal factor, personality was better predictor for subjective well-being of female students. For instance, it accounted for around 35% variance of female's subjective happiness. The present findings reiterate the role of personality in quality of life, and it was discussed with characteristics of subjects, situational factors, and previous studies.
Can money buy happiness? If not, what are the factors that influence happiness? What makes people happy? What are the factors that influence happiness among Korean adults? How can we better explain factors that influence happiness? These are the research questions that led to the analyses of psychological, relational, financial resources that influence happiness. To examine differences in socio-economic status, adults and elderly from three different districts that vary wealth and income were interviewed in their own home. A total of 313 respondents (male=133, female=180) between the ages of 20 through 80 completed a questionnaire that contained background information, emotional support scale and happiness scale developed by the present researcher and resiliency of efficacy developed by Bandura(1995). The results are as follows. First, monthly income influence happiness to some extent, but when the variable was excluded from the path analysis, the goodness-of-fit did not change significantly. Although those who have more money can be happier, those without much money can also be happy. These results indicate that financial resource has limited influence on happiness. In addition, monthly income did influence self-efficacy of respondents indicating that those with more money were not necessarily more confident about themselves. Second, an important factor influencing happiness is the relational resource. Emotional support was the most powerful predictor of happiness, four to five times more important than monthly income. Third, self-efficacy influenced happiness. Those respondents with higher resiliency of efficacy had higher happiness scores and the influence was two times greater than monthly income. Moreover, self-efficacy played a mediating role between emotional support and happiness. Fourth, those respondents with higher occupational achievement reported higher happiness score and the influence was two times greater than monthly income. Fifth, success of children influenced happiness score and the influence was 1.5 times greater than monthly income. Sixth, education did not directly influence happiness, but had an indirect influence through self-efficacy and occupational achievement. Seventh, age was not related to self-efficacy and happiness.
The purpose of this study is to develop an emotional management program on adolescents' happiness and psychological well-being. The participants were 100 students from two middle schools located in Seoul. Half of them were assigned to the treatment group, and the other half were assigned to the control group. Students in the treatment group participated in an emotional management program for 8 weeks. All of the participants' happiness and psychological well-being scores were measured before and after implementation of the program. The pre-test scores of both groups indicated that they were homogeneous. However, as for the post-test, the happiness score of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group. Also, the scores of the treatment group on six subdimensions of psychological well-being were higher than those of the control group. These results imply that the emotional management program has a significant, positive effect on adolescents' happiness and psychological well-being.
South Korea has become richer economically than the past, but still level of happiness is low. This research was conducted to verify the relationships among mental health, self-forgiveness, and psychological well-being. Participants were 232 college students in an university in Seoul. Methods of data analysis were ANOVA, regression analysis, and path analysis. As a result of analyses, first, MMPI-2 clinical scales which showed significant correlation with psychological well-being were as follows: Hs, D, Pd, Pa, Pt, Sc, Si. Second, PSY-5 scales which showed significant correlation with psychological well-being were as follows: PSYC, NEGE, INTR. Third, stepwise regression analysis revealed that Sc, Si and Pd among clinical scales of MMPI-2 were associated with psychological well-being. Fourth, PSYC, NEGE and INTR among clinical scales of PSY-5 scales were associated with psychological well-being. Fifth, self-forgiveness had a significant mediating effect in the relationship between mental health and psychological well-being. Based on the results, implications related to importances of mental health and self-forgiveness were discussed for increasing psychological well-being of college students.
The purpose of this study was to examine music-color association response(MCAR) of people with visual impairment through music-emotion scale and music-color scale. The study was conducted on 60 participants(30 congenital/ 30 adventitious) who are using services of two welfare centers at S and B cities. For this, four basic emotions (happiness, sadness, anger, and fear) mediated by music were selected, and MCAR to emotion-inducing music were analyzed through self-report method. As a result, first, there were found contrasts in MCAR between happiness and sadness according to type of emotion, however, similar in anger and fear. Second, in MCAR among three variables of the music-emotion scale(valence, arousal and intensity), valence was congruent with MCAR according to type of emotion, arousal marked high scores in negative emotions, and scores of intensity in happiness and sadness were higher than those in anger and fear. Third, there were no significant differences between two groups of people with congenital and adventitious visual impairments. It is meaningful that this study showed the MCAR can be mediated by music through investigating those of people with visual impairment.
