Development of Construction R&D Strategy through the International Construction Market Analysis (해외건설 시장 분석을 통한 건설기술개발 전략 수립)

  • R&D projects for land, infrastructure, and transportation is to identify challenges through academic-industrial demand survey, and to promote R&D projects through detailed planning projects. These R&D projects have been promoted to be applied to most domestic project-oriented. Despite continuous R&D investment, the investment has been promoted to the world top technology rather than to international construction projects. This study analyzed the international construction market trends and international construction contracts in order to promote technology development for enhancing international construction competitiveness. This study suggests three R&D technology development directions and ten research projects for expanding international construction projects.

Selection and Strategies of New Leading Businesses in International Construction Market (해외건설시장의 신성장동력 공종선정 및 진출전략 도출)

  • As the international construction market is rapidly expanding, Korean contractors have the need for having new leading businesses for their sustainable growth and high performance. Thus, this research tried to explore new leading businesses with two questions: 'What can be the new leading businesses?' and 'How can Korean contractors implement new leading businesses?' To this end, based on Porter's five forces framework and the resource-based view (RBV), we first derive three evaluation criteria (possibility of market entry, possibility of profit earning, and possibility of value-added earning). Next, we developed a framework for business evaluation which considers external market condition, internal competitiveness, and spin-off effects toward domestic market. Based on the framework, we defined green-energy plant, environmental plant, desalination plant, nuclear power plant, new urban development, and high-rise building as new leading business. Then, we selected green energy plant, environmental plant, and new urban development for the purpose of prior occupation of the market, consolidation of the competitiveness, and expansion of the ripple effect, respectively. Finally, we deduced market entry strategies for each business by investigating experts' opinions.

  • The IT industry plays the engine role in Korean economy which reaches up to 17% of Korean GDP. However the current global economic depression which stems mainly from the US has caused insufficient demand in IT industry. The decreased demand leads to a drug in the market, to fierce price competitions and increasing fear on the world IT market depression. Considering the facts, there are strong demands for the diversification of the products of exports and the countries Korea exports to. These need differentiated strategies which can be summarized in various IT package-type overseas expansion model including the consideration in strategic items, countries, connecting large and small-medium size companies or businesses and related industries. The importance of IT industry in Korean economy will grow constantly and the IT package-type overseas expansion models will preside the movements.

  • Recently in Korea, or companies considering overseas expansion is often already begun. Past, enterprise's overseas economic cooperation fund(OECF) was consisted of overseas economic cooperation fund(OECF) of most large enterprise leading but medium and small enterprises as well as large enterprise is recognized for factor that competitive power security through overseas economic cooperation fund(OECF) is indispensable by economy opening Tuesday such as deregulation of great foreign enemy environment change and a technology and capital introduction. In the case of Korea, that advance of the China is going through bottleneck among by far bank Vietnam advance gradually expand. Therefore, in this study, I wished to quote plan for efficient and desirable Vietnam advance strategy establishment regarding our country enterprise's Vietnam advance through economy, politics, social environment analysis. In this study, can do on the basis of Vietnam advance connection domestic?outside literature investigation and virtue study through theoretical investigation according to these purpose and behaved theoretical investigation and lift construction materials allied industry, labor-intensive manufacturing industry, fisheries farm produce cultivation, processing household mascot etc. as energy industry, refined oil and petrochemical industry, electric-power industry, other field by our country medium and small enterprise.

Influential Factors of Foreign Market Entry of Korean Fashion Firms (한국 패션 기업의 해외 시장 진입에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • As the fashion industry comes under the influence of globalization throughout all fields of industry, the globalization and the market entry strategies are required for Korean fashion firms. This study attempted to analyze the factors influencing foreign entry mode of Korean fashion business based on Eclectic Theory. Data collection has been carried out from November 25 until December 25, 2005. The questionnaires were sent through e-mail or fax to 622 trading companies. 67 questionnaires were returned for a response rate of 10.7%. Of these returns, 61 usable questionnaires were employed for data analyses. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, discriminant analysis, and t-test were used for data analysis. First, the most important venture motivation was price competitiveness and many firms were engaged in both production and sales in their target countries, which were mainly in Southeast Asia. Second, the firm's ability and experience were found out as ownership advantage factor, investment stability and market potential as location advantage factor, and contract stability as internalization advantage factor. Third, the result of discriminant analysis showed that location advantage factor was a significant factor in predicting the entry of fashion firms into foreign countries.

An Approach to the Logistics Outsourcing Factors of the Korean Companies (한국 기업의 물류아웃소싱 활용요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to understand the conditions for using logistics outsourcing of Korean enterprises, present existing problems, examine factors affecting utility, and analyze the pattern of logistics outsourcing based on contract term, and to ultimately contribute to enhancing competitiveness of logistics enterprises. Through the literature survey 8 factors were identified as three broad factors of corporate strategy, corporate characteristics, and environment. Factor analysis was conducted on the bases of 155 collected data among 400 distributions for 2 months from April to May in 2008. From the result of analysis, the implication and finding can be summarized into three aspects. Firstly, Korean companies value factors relative to corporate strategies as motivating factors for logistics outsourcing. Secondly, Korean companies consider logistics outsourcing depending on how to handle customers' demands and the severity of competition. Thirdly, it was found that product and organization characteristics are perceived as more important when contract term with logistics business is longer. The implications can be observed into two aspects. Firstly once the logistics outsourcing between manufacturers and logistics companies are determined, it was verified that mutual agreement, particular contracts and periodic communications can increase the outcome. Secondly the logistics outsourcing appeared to be different depending on the level of entering to foreign market and resulted in higher performance as well.

  • What is the impact of intercultural understanding and communication on a 'foreign' company's performance? We suggest that a firm's localization is a bilateral process requiring mutual understanding and respect of the foreign and indigenous cultures. To assess this argument, we investigate the relationship between mutual understanding (measured by power distance, communication satisfaction, and cross-cultural understanding) on organizational performance at Korean firms employing Indonesian workers in Indonesia. Survey and statistical results indicate that firm performance was negatively affected by power distance and positively affected by cross-cultural understanding. The results suggest a new perspective on enhancing the organization's performance for overseas operations. While it is necessary for Korean investors to understand local culture, educating local managers on Korean culture better enhances organizational performance.

  • This study aims to achieve the following goal. Goal is to do the comparative analysis through the in-depth investigation of global technology commercialization agencies and program. In the era of global competition, The change to the innovation-driven economy through the creation and diffusion of technology is accelerating in the world. For the global technology and market changes and efficient information management, systematic support system for local SMEs is required. To this end, we researched and analyzed the level of technology and commercialization trends in major foreign countries, and major domestic and international institutes, and technology commercialization programs. Based on this, we draw the domestic SMEs' expansion strategy and information support plan to enter the global market.

  • 2010년 기준 세계 물산업은 약 4,800억불 규모이며, 2025년에는 약 1조 달러 규모로 성장할 것으로 전망된다. 또한 기후변화 등의 요인으로 물산업의 범위는 물순환체계 전과정을 포괄하는 "유역종합개발+상하수도+대체수자원"으로 확장될 것으로 예측된다. 그러나 지금까지의 국내 물산업 육성은 주로 상하수도 분야 중심으로 국한되어, 기후변화에 대응한 유역종합개발 분야에 대한 시장 진출기회를 상실하고 있다. 상하수도 중심의 물산업은 이미 선진 메이저 기업들이 선점하여 치열한 경쟁이 벌어지고 있는 '레드오션'이라 할 수 있으므로, 새로운 물산업의 강국으로 부상하기 위해서는 우리가 가진 장점을 바탕으로 물산업의 새로운 영역을 개척하는 방안에 대한 연구가 필요한 시점이다. 본 연구는 먼저 국내외 물순환체계 전과정(유역종합개발+상하수도+대체수자원)에 대한 시장 조사을 통해 세계 물산업 시장을 프로젝트 유형별, 지역별로 분석하고, 이를 토대로 국내 물산업 육성과 해외진출을 위한 당면 과제를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 민관협력을 위한 제도적 틀을 형성할 필요가 있다. 정부의 역할이 매우 중요한데, 정부 또는 기금이 자금의 단순한 대부자에서 적극적인 투자자로 전환함으로서 국내 민간기업들의 해외시장 진입장벽을 낮추어 줄 필요가 있다. 정부 주도의 민관협력이 활성화되면 참여 기업의 재무적 리스크를 현저히 줄일 수 있다. 또한, 상하수도 운영 경험을 축적한 공기업이 해외진출 지원기능을 수행하도록 하여야 한다. 즉, 공기업이 민간 기업의 경쟁자가 아니라 지원자가 될 수 있도록 프레임을 바꿔주어야 한다. 둘째, 물산업 클러스터의 형성이다. 물산업 제조업은 대부분 중소 벤처기업으로 독자적인 해외진출이 곤란하므로, 물전문 공기업이 중소 벤처기업 육성 및 해외진출의 앵커 역할을 담당하는 것이 필요하다. 이스라엘이나 싱가포르의 물산업 클러스터처럼 Anchor 역할을 행하는 공기업과 민간기업이 장기적 협력관계를 구축할 수 있는 기반을 마련해야한다. 셋째, 신시장 역량의 창출이다. 기후변화로 크게 성장할 전망인 통합물관리 시장에 대한 전략적 접근이 요구된다. 우선 ODA 등 대외 원조자금을 활용하여 투자비가 적게 들고 정보를 선점할 수 있는 조사 설계부터 시작하여, 댐 및 수력개발, 상하수도 건설 운영 등에 단계적으로 접근할 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 향후 도입될 예정인 물인프라의 Smart 기술, 첨단 수처리 기술 등을 활용하여 새로운 시장을 개척해야 한다. 4대강살리기 사업, 해수담수화 등 조기에 경쟁우위를 갖출 수 있는 사업과 기술을 Flagship Project로 브랜드화하여 우리나라를 "물강국"으로 포지셔닝할 경우 세계 물시장 공략에 보다 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

한국 해외직접투자기업의 전략적 통제에 관한 연구 -내부자원 상호의존성,과업환경불확실성,해외직접투자회사 소유지분을 중심으로-

  • 범세계적 환경에서 시스템 전체가 대응하는 단일조직으로 국제기업의 기본 틀을 유지하면 서 해외자회사를 효율적으로 통제하는 것은 국제기업의 의사결정과점에서 고려되어야 할 중요한 과제이다. 또한 한국기업의 국제화가 성숙되고 있는 현시점에서 볼 때 진출초기단계의 의사결정문제에서 벗어나 실행된 투자에 대한 사후 관리적 측면에 대한 연구의 필요성이 증 가하고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 한국기업 해외자회사를 대상으로 모-자회사간의 의 사결정과정에서 발생되는 자원준거요인, 상황요인, 해외직접투자 요인에 의한 전략적 통제문제에 관해 실증 분석하였다. 연구의 분석결과, 모회사와 해외자회사 내부자원의 상호의존성이 높으면 높을수록 해외자 회사에 대한 모회사의 전략적 통제는 높을 것이라는 가설검정결과, 고통제집단의 경우, 재무 마케팅 기술 국제경영능력으로 측정된 내부능력에 있어 모두 높은 정의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 분석되었고, 저통제집단의 경우 국제경영능력을 제외한 3개 부분에서는 상관관 계를 보이지 않아, 연구가설의 이론적 예상을 부분적으로 반영하고 있다. 둘째, 해외자회사의 과업환경의 불확실성이 높을수록 해외자회사에 대한 모회사의 전략적 통제는 낮을 것이라는 가설검증결과, 환경의 불확실성이 높은 집단이 낮은 집단 보다 인사 마케팅 생산 재무 등의 4개 부문 모두에서 상대적으로 모기업의 통제가 낮게 나타났지만 생산부문은 통계적으로도 유의하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 과업환경의 불확실성이 높을수록 모회사의 전략적 통제는 낮다는 이론적 예상을 부분적으로 반영하고 있다. 셋째, 해외자회사의 소유지분과 전략적 통제사이에는 유의 적인 상관관계가 존재할 것이라 는 가설의 검증결과는, 마케팅 분야에서만 완전소유 자회사가 다수소유 자회사보다 모회사의 통제의 정도가 상대적으로 높은 것으로 나타났지만 통계적으로 유의하지 않게 나타났다.
