Numerical Study for Flow Uniformity in Selective Catalytic Reduction(SCR) Process (SCR 공정에서 반응기 내부의 유동 균일화를 위한 수치적 연구)

  • Performance of NOx removal in SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) process depends on such various factors as catalyst factors (catalyst composition, catalyst form, space velocity, etc.), temperature of exhaust gas, and velocity distribution of exhaust gas. Especially the flow uniformity of gas stream flowing into the catalyst layer is believed to be the most important factor to influence the performance. In this research, the flow characteristics of a SCR process at design stage was simulated, using 3-dimensional numerical analysis method, to confirm the uniformity of the gas stream. In addition, the effects of guide vanes, baffles, and perforated plates on the flow uniformity for the inside and catalyst layer of the reactor were studied in order to optimize the flow uniformity inside the SCR reactor. It was found that the installation of a guide vane at the inlet duct L-tube part and the installation of a baffle at the upper part is very effective in avoiding chaneling inside the reactor. It was also found that additional installation of a perforated plate at the lower part of the potential catalyst layer buffers once more the flow for very uniform distribution of the gas stream.

A Study on the Diffuser Design of Exhaust Pipes for the Infra-Red Signature Reduction of Naval Ship (함정 적외선 신호 감소를 위한 폐기관의 디퓨져 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In modern naval ships, an infrared signature suppression (IRSS) system is used to reduce the metal surface temperature of the heated exhaust pipe and high-temperature exhaust gases generated from the propulsion system. Generally, the IRSS systems used in Korean naval ships consist of an eductor, mixing tube, and diffuser. The diffuser reduces the temperature of the metal surface by creating an air film due to a pressure difference between the internal gas and the external air. In this study, design variables were selected by analyzing the shapes of a diffuser designed by an advanced overseas engineering company. The characteristics of the design variables that affect the performance of the IRSS were investigated through the Taguchi experimental method. A heat flow analysis technique for IRSS systems established in previous studies was used analyze the performance of the diffuser. The performance evaluation was based on the area-averaged value of the metal surface temperature and exhaust gas temperature at the outlet of the diffuser, which are directly related to the intensity of the infrared signature. The results show that the temperature of the exhaust gas was significantly affected by changes in the diameter of the diffuser outlet, and the temperature of the diffuser's metal surface was significantly affected by changes in the number of diffuser rings.

An Experimental Study on Structural Behavior of High-strength Concrete Members with Compressive Strength of 80 MPa Subjected to Flexure (휨을 받는 압축강도 80 MPa 수준의 고강도 콘크리트 부재의 구조거동 실험 연구)

  • This paper concerns the structural behavior of high-strength concrete beams with compressive strength of 80 MPa subjected to flexure. Main test variables were nominal yielding strength of longitudinal rebar including normal strength rebar(SD 400) and high strength rebar(SD 600), reinforcement ratio from 0.98 to 1.58% and beam section size with $200{\times}250$, $200{\times}300mm$. The nine beams were cast and tested under flexure. The study investigated ultimate flexural strength, load-deflection relationship, crack patterns, failure patterns and ductility of the test beams. Test results indicate that when rebar ratio increased flexural strength increased and ductility decreased. In addition, the number of cracks increased and the crack width decreased as the reinforcement ratio increased. The yield strength of rebar did not affect significantly load-crack width relationship. Nonlinear analysis of test beams was performed and then test results and analytical results of ultimate load were compared. Analytical results of high-strength concrete beams overall underestimated flexural strength of test beams.

The Factor Analysis of Land Surface Temperature(LST) Change using MODIS Imagery and Panel Data (MODIS 영상 자료와 패널 자료를 이용한 지표면온도변화 요인분석)

  • This paper aimed to identify main factors of community characters, which have an effect on the land surface temperature(LST) change and estimate the impacting coefficient(ratio) of factors in a significant level of statistics. Chungcheongbuk-do province was selected and then partitioned into city and county areas for the sake of convenience of modeling. LST time series data and the community character data were developed based on Terra Satellite MODIS data and collected from the National Statistical Office, respectively. By the cause and effect relationship between community characters and LST, regression coefficients were estimated using a penal model. In a panel modeling, LST and community characters were used as a dependent variable and explanatory variables, respectively. Panel modeling analysis was carried out using statistical package STATA14 and one-way fixed effect model was selected as the most suitable model to evaluate the regression coefficients in the study area. The impacting ratio of LST change by any explanatory variable derived from the regression coefficients of the panel model fixed. Impacting ratios for industrial areas, elevation ${\times}$ building, energy usage, average window speed, non-urban management area, agricultural, nature and environmental conservation, average precipitation were 3.746, 2.856, 2.742, 0.553, 0.102, 0.071 and 0.003, respectively.

A Fundamental Study on the Adsorption Capacity of Heavy Metals by Earthworms Cast (지렁이 분변토의 중금속흡착능에 관한 기초연구)

  • The purpose of this study is the evaluation of adsorption capacity of casts for heavy metals comparing with the activated carbon. The casts was obtained from vermicomposting of the mixed organic sludges which were generated from the treatment facilities for leather wastewater and cattle wastewater. The physico-chemical characteristics of cast was investigated. Also, the batch adsorption experiments of cast and activated carbon for heavy metals were carried out, and the results were analyzed by Freundlich isotherm. The buffering capacity to the acidic wastewater was founded in the cast, and the cation exchange capacity of cast impling adsorption capacity for soluble substances was evaluated as about 55me/100g. Those were implied that the cast have a large potential as a good adsorbent for soluble pollutants in wastewater. From the results of batch experiments, the removal efficiencies of tested various heavy metals including Pb, Cu, Cd, and Cr were very high value as 89-98% for the activated car-bon, and 80~95% for the casts except for Zn. The adsorption equilibriums for the two materials were achieved within 90 minutes. The order of preferable metals in the adsorption was found to be Pb>Cu>Cd>Cr>Zn on the cast and to be Pb>Cd>Cu>Cr>Zn on the activated carbon, respectively. From the above results, it might be con-cluded that cast is effectively available as a good adsorbent to treating the heavy metal bearing wastewater.

A Study on the Prediction of HLW Temperature from Natural Ventilation Quantity using CFD (전산유체학을 이용한 고준위 방사성 폐기물 처분장의 자연환기량에 의한 온도예측)

  • This study predicted temperature in the disposal tunnels using computational fluid dynamics based on natural ventilation quantity that comes from high altitude and temperature differences that are the characteristics of high level waste repository. The result of the previous study that evaluated quantitatively natural ventilation quantity using a hydrostatic method and CFD shows that significant natural ventilation quantity is generated. From the result, this study performed the prediction of temperature in disposal tunnels by natural ventilation quantity by the caloric values of the wastes, at both deep geological repository and surface repository. The result of analysis shows that deep geological repository is effective for thermal control in the disposal tunnels due to heat transfer to rock and the generation of sufficient natural ventilation quantity, while surface repository was detrimental to thermal control, because surface repository was strongly affected by external temperature, and could not generate sufficient natural ventilation quantity. Moreover, this study found that in the case of deep geological repository with a depth of 200 m, the heatof about $10^{\circ}C$ was transferred to the depth of 500 m. Thus, it is considered that if the high level waste repository scheduled to be built in the country is designed placing an emphasis on thermal control, deep geological repository rather than surface repository is more appropriate.

A Study on the Application Scheme of Fire Identification Considering the Heat Release Rate Characteristics of Inflammable Material (가연물의 발열량 특성을 고려한 화재감식 적용방안에 관한 연구)

  • The present study suggests the fundamental method for the prediction time of the fire origin by analyzing the combustion phenomenon of inflammable material in the building structure. The heat release rate (HRR) with time variant is evaluated for the interphone as a inflammable material, which is opted from the fire incidents in the stairwell. the fire dynamics simulator (FDS ver. 6.1) is applied in order to analyze the difference of the smoke inflow time to the downstair from the fire event area with various fire pattern. The results show that the maximum inflow time difference for the case of the interphone made from ABS materials is about 4.93 times with the input conditions of heat flux values and the environment in the FDS for the fixed stairwell which composed of total volume $291.3m^3$, floorage $23.3m^2$ and the height of each floor 2.5 m. This research can be practical information for the application method of simulation scheme with experimental data to the fire Identification.

Effect of uncertain information on drivers' decision making (Application of Prospect Theory) (불확실한 정보에 대한 운전자의 의사결정행태 연구)

  • This paper explores the way and the extent to which drivers' route choice was influenced by uncertain information. In particular, this paper investigates the effect of qualitative information on route choice when drivers face a choice with different degrees of uncertain information. The SP survey was conducted and route choice legit models were estimated. We also applied Prospect Theory to the analysis of drivers' decision making under uncertain information. The main findings are firstly, drivers tend to prefer a route with information than(to) one without information. This indicated that providing charge information encouraged drivers to choose the routes for which information is provided in preference to those for which it is not provided. Secondly, drivers also prefer a route with a certain and precise information over one with uncertain and imprecise information. Thirdly, when the information is given as a range, the size of the range of the information influenced route choice slightly and as the range of the charge increases, the route becomes slightly less unattractive. Fourthly, when the information is given as a range, drivers' route choices are influenced more by the median value of the ranges than by the size of the overall ranges of the information. Application of Prospect Theory to the results explains the way drivers may be interpreting the choice situation and how they make a route choice in response to uncertain information. The results of this paper implicate that drivers' decision making under uncertainty seem to be very complicated and flexible, depending on the way drivers interpret the choice situation. Therefore, it is recommended to apply wider related theories to the analysis of the drivers' behaviour.

Fabrication and Ionic Current Rectification Characteristics of Biomimetic Aluminum Oxide Membrane (생체모방형 비대칭 나노채널을 갖는 산화알루미늄 분리막 제조 및 이온 정류 특성)

  • In the present study, a biomimetic alumina membrane was fabricated by using selenic acid as an electrolyte to overcome the asymmetry limit of the square pulse anodization process. The prepared membrane has conical channels with a minimum diameter of 10 nm, a maximum diameter of 50 nm, and a length of 5 ㎛. The rectification property was higher than membranes fabricated by sulfuric acid. It showed 2.9 times larger current at +1 V than -1 V. Also, the membrane, which sulfonic acid group was introduced by surface modification, showed 4.2 times larger rectification property at -1 V than +1 V. Theoretical verifications were supported by the numerical analyses of 2D models. The results of the present study present a convenient method to fabricate two type membranes with different rectification properties and are expected to be used to control ion transport.

Evaluation of Sleep Comfort for Indoor Thermal Environment based on the Physiological Signal Analysis (생리신호 분석을 이용한 실내온열환경에서의 수면 쾌적성 평가)

  • 문명의 발달과 함께 수면부족으로 인한 여러 가지 스트레스와 질환이 증가하게 되어 최근 수면연구에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 온열환경 조건에서의 쾌적한 수면을 위한 온열환경을 제시하기 위해, 5명의 여성 피험자를 대상으로 22$^{\circ}C$, 26$^{\circ}C$, 3$0^{\circ}C$의 일정온도 조건과 $25^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 후와 2시간 후에 각각 1, 2$^{\circ}C$를 상승시켜주는 변동온도 조건하에서 수면생리신호를 측정하였다. 그리고, 수면단계 평가를 이용하여 총 수면시간, 깊은 수면의 비율, 그리고 최초 수면시작 시간에서 최초의 서파 수면이 나타나기까지의 지연시간 등의 수면효율을 평가하였다. 그 결과, 일정온도 조건에서는 26$^{\circ}C$에서 총 수면시간(466.7$\pm$10.25분)과 깊은 수면의 비율(33.1$\pm$4.95%)은 타 조건에 비해 높게 나타났고, 최초 서파수면까지의 지연시간(9.8$\pm$3.33분)은 타 조건에 비해 낮게 나타나 쾌적한 수면을 위한 가장 적절한 온열조건임을 관찰할 수 있었다. 그리고 변동온도 조건에서는 4가지 온열조건간에는 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았지만, 모든 조건에서 일정온도 조건보다는 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 수면 중 신체 움직임과 설문 분석에서도 동일한 결과를 보였다. 본 연구를 통해, 수면생리신호를 이용한 수면 쾌적성 분석은 수면의 질적인 상태를 관찰하는데 매우 적합한 파라메터를 도출할 수 있으며, 여러 가지 수면환경 조건을 평가하는데 매우 유용한 지표가 될 수 있음을 보였다.e results suggest that hCG treatment at 7 days after insemination could be used to increase the pregnancy rate of embryo transfer, and transfer, and only the recipients with PUN concentration of <12 mg/dl were influenced by treatment with hCG./TEX>이었으며, 이는 화성 기원을 지시한다.sucrose를 이용한 2단계 희석이 수정란의 생존성을 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 발육 단계별 생존성에 있어서는 발육이 진전된 확장배 반포 시에 동결하는 것이 배반포기에 동결하는 것 보다 유리한 것으로 나타났다.ody를 사용하여 flow cytometery해석을 실시하는 한편 125I-hGH binding assay에 의하여 hGH binding activity를 측정하였다. 최종적으로 GH signal transduction의 target genedf으로 알려져 있는 serine protease inhibitor 2.1(Spi 2.1) gene의 promotor activity를 검토한 결과 hGHR을 transfect한 CHO Cell에 있어서 hGH의 농도에 의존적으로 증가되었다. 따라서 본 실험에서 cloning한 cDNA hGHR는 native hGHR와 같은 기능을 가지는 것으로 판명되었다.것으로 판명되었다..ments of that period left both in Japan and Korea.
