  • Current is change to concept that management traffic of ship os magnified gradually to near shore waters from harbor. Therefore, introducing the technology of AIS in the ground station, lighthouse, bouy, sea facilities etc.. that is support equipment for safety sailing of ship and safety security of harbor and ship administration. The operation and maintenance of AIS for aids to navigation are required to efficient method. With this actuality, sea advanced nation of EU, USA, Japan that has been apply for developing AtoN AIS equipment that is connected equipment of technology standard in IALA. Because of it is expected to depend equipment in income, that is required to domestic technology of the AtoN AIS. This paper is targeted to development that is suitable automation AtoN AIS equipment in environmental peculiarity for constructor AtoN operating administration center. It has been realization send protocol for information interchange.

  • With the development of various IT technologies, data generated in the ship can be controlled through CAN communication, autonomous operation, and information provision in various situation. In addition, electronic navigation vessels with various functions have emerged, and navigation and communication equipment used in these vessels are mainly following the NMEA standard. Currently, NMEA-0183 is still mainly used, but more efficient multimedia transmission processing method is needed for multimedia transmission and USN equipment compatible using NMEA-2000 standard. Furthermore, Ethernet-based ship control is required. However, this paper proposes a multimedia transmission scheme to be smoothly linked with existing ship devices by utilizing CAN communication that can be easily used in the ship.

Analysis of Seafarers' Behavioral Error on Collision Accidents (충돌사고에 대한 해기사의 행동오류 분석)

  • Behavioral errors of the seafarers are one of the major causes of collisions and are usually corrected through education and training. To correct this behavioral error, the structure in which the behavioral error occurs needs to be identified and analyzed. For this purpose, behavior observation data were obtained through ship maneuvering simulation for collision encounters. The 9-state behavior classification frame proposed by Reason was used for the behavior observation and 50 university students were involved in the experiment. Behavioral analysis used the behavioral model of collision avoidance success and failure, which was developed from the 9-state Left-to-Right Hidden Markov modeling technique. As a result of the experiment, the difference between behaviors of success and failure of collision avoidance was clearly identified, and the linkage between 9-state behaviors, required to prevent collision, was derived.

  • The conduct of seafarer is major cause of marine accidents. This study models the behavior of the seafarer based on the Hidden Markov Model (HMM). Additionally, through the path analysis of the behavior estimated by the model, the kind of situations, procedures and errors that may have caused the marine accidents were interpreted. To successfully implement the model, the seafarer behaviors were observed by means of the summarized verdict reports issued by the Korean Maritime Safety Tribunal, and the observed results converted into behavior data suitable for HMM learning through the behavior classification framework based on the SRKBB (Skill-, Rule-, and Knowledge-Based Behavior). As a result of modeling the seafarer behaviors by the type of vessels, it was established that there was a difference between the models, and the possibility of identifying the preferred path of the seafarer behaviors. Through these results, it is expected that the model implementation technique proposed in this study can be applied to the prediction of the behavior of the seafarer as well as contribute to the prioritization of the behavior correction among seafarers, which is necessary for the prevention of marine accidents.

  • The Maritime Domain Awareness system is a component that is necessary to enhance the awareness of all situations occurring at sea in relation to security, safety, economy, and the environment. To establish a marine situation recognition system that is currently being introduced in major maritime countries after approval by the International Maritime Organization's Maritime Safety Committee in 2010, operational measures should be established. For the purpose of establishing a technological foundation for the efficient construction of a Korean maritime situation recognition system, this study analyzed the status of each system (RADAR, VHF, and V-PASS, etc.) and proposed the application of data and communication standards.

  • Recently, amid active research on domestic shipbuilding industry and IT convergence technology, with the development of satellite detection technology for ship safety operation, ships monitored the movement of ships with the mandatory long-range identification & tracking of vessels and automatic identification system. It is possible to help safe navigation, but it is necessary to develop safety device that alert the marine officer who rely on radar to correct conditions in case of weightlessness. Therefore, an ocean fog alarm system was developed to detect and inform using photo sensors. The fabricated ocean fog detect and alarm system consists of a small, low-power optical sensor transceiver and data sensing processing module. Through experiment, it is confirmed that the fabricated ocean fog detect and alarm system measure the corresponding concentration of ocean fog for fogless circumstance and fogbound circumstance, respectively. Furthermore, the fabricated system can control RPM of ship engine according to the concentration of ocean fog, and consequently, the fabricated system can be applied to assistant device for ship safety operation.

  • Recently, container terminal managers make an experiment on the double cycle and dual cycle operation, which ship loading and unloading were carried out simultaneously, for increasing the productivity of quay side. However, if we make an experiment on dual cycle operation in a real job site, the efficiency is poor up to terminal operation method as YTs(Yard Tractors)' allocation method, QCs(Quay Cranes)' working speed, and position of export containers. So, this paper examine more efficient terminal operation method, when terminal uses dual cycle operation.

  • This study classify the every meshes in Busan metropolitan city, based on the building need. The number of the effective meshes is 3289, all of those meshes are databased with simplified 7 building needs. The area for residential, commercial, educational needs occupy 92.4 % among all the areas. To simplify the multiple variables, principal component analysis is performed before the cluster analysis. Ans as the result 5 classification are obtained.

  • This paper presents experimental results on frequency interference phenomena between WiFi and ZogBee communication systems which are used for wireless communication in a port. When communication systems use a frequency band in a region, it hurts communication reliability. Hence, understanding and analysis on frequency interference phenomena through experiments. With various experiments between WiFi and ZigBee, we find out that 26th channel of ZigBee collides with WiFi communication channels, which is unknown result yet.

  • Today's port system,; require larger and faster operation of transfer cranes in order to accommodate rapidly increasing traffic. These cranes need precise control of their components for operational efficiency. This paper presents an IEEE 1451 based smart module that allows numerous sensors and actuators of the crane to attach themselves to various networks more easily. The smart module has been experimentally evaluated on a CAN network for its performance.
