Load Balancing for Parallel Finite Element Analysis in Computing GRID Environment (컴퓨팅 그리드 시스템에서의 병렬 유한요소 해석을 위한 로드 밸런싱)

  • In GRID environments, an efficient load balancing algorithm should be adopted since the system performances of GRID system are not homogeneous. In this work, a new two-step mesh-partitioning scheme based on the graph-partitioning scheme was introduced to consider the difference of system performance. In the two-step mesh-partitioning scheme, the system performance weights were calculated to reflect the effect of heterogeneous system performances and WEVM(Weighted Edge and vertex Method) was adopted to minimize the increase' of communications. Numerical experiments were carried out in multi-cluster environment and WAN (Wide Area Network) environment to investigate the effectiveness of the two-step mesh-partitioning scheme.

  • Electronic equipment used in satellites are demanding extremely high reliability, so they should be designed to have immunity for some critical faults by using redundancy component. Generally, Communication satellites are assigned to meet the 15 years mission lifetime, of the analysis about faults must be performed to electronic equipments of satellite. This paper is a summary of the fault tolerance design research of command processor, the improvement of reliability and trade-off study of fault tolerance design result. The reliability prediction value of the satellite component used in this research was taken from Koreasat 3 and Kompsat 1. It is important to perform many trade-off studies for fault tolerance design, especially to choose the most proper fault tolerance method for the specified fault scenario.

  • This paper addresses the optimized thermal modeling methodology for spacecraft board level thermal analysis. A direct thermal modeling of external and internal structure of active parts which have high power dissipation is newly proposed, based on conventional plate modeling for Printed Circuit Board(PCB). The parts thermal modeling results were compared with other generic methodologies and verified by thermal vacuum test. This parts thermal modeling was directly applied to thermal analysis of CS(Communication Subsystem) board of HAUSAT-2 small satellite. As a result, it was confirmed that the parts thermal modeling can complement other conventional modeling methodologies. A parts thermal modeling is very effective for thermal control design, since the existing thermal problems can be solved at the parts level in advance.

  • 컴퓨터 그래픽스 기술과 H/W의 발달로 3D GIS에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 최근 3D GIS에 대한 활발한 연구 중 3D 가상도시의 구축이 중요한 연구로 떠오르고 있다. 3D 가상도시는 국방, 교통, 통신, 지적, 지하시설물, 관광, 도시계획, 도시모델링 등에 다양하게 활용될 수 있다. 현재 우리나라에서 3D 가상도시의 구축은 미약하지만 앞으로 그 수요는 더욱 더 많아질 것이다. 3D 가상도시의 구축에는 GIS, 컴퓨터 그래픽스, Database, 자료구조, 3D 모델링 등의 다양한 기술이 필요하다. 3D 가상도시의 구축의 방법은 크게 1/1,000수치지도+실제측량, 1/1,000수치지도+입체 인공위성 영상+수치사진측량, 1/1,000수치지도+항공사진측량 도화원도, 1/1,000수치지도+항공레이저스캐닝의 방법을 적용해 볼 수 있다. 현재 우리나라 여건상 첫 번째 방법이 가장 일반적으로 사용이 되나 도화원도에 대한 규제를 완화하여 세 번째 방법을 적용하는 것이 가장 효과적일 것이다. 3D 가상도시는 인터넷 기술과 접목이 되어 3D Web GIS의 형태로 앞으로의 GIS 주류를 이룰 것이다. 그러나 국내에서 3D 가상도시의 구축에 관한 연구는 미약한 수준이다. 3D 자료취득, 자료처리, 모델링 부문에 대한 연구가 시급하다.

Development of Operation System for Network of Multiple UAVs (복수 무인기 네트워크 통합 운영 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, a total operating environment equipped with onboard wireless communication systems and ground-based mission control systems is proposed for simultaneous operation of multiple UAVs. A variety of operating structures are studied and classified systematically based on types and usages of the components. For each operating system, the strength, weakness and reliability aspects are investigated. Based on these results, a proper operating system configuration is determined and components are developed for mission formation flight. Proposed system can make a formation flight of various UAVs, execute complex missions decentralizing mission to several UAVs and cooperate several missions.

  • A parallel computing strategy for finite element(FE) processing is described and implemented in nonlinear explicit FE code and its parallel performances are evaluated. A self-made linux-cluster supercomputer with 520 CPUs is used as a bench mark test bed. It is observed that speed-up is increased almost idealy even up to 256 CPUs for a large scale model. A communication over head and its effect on the parallel performance is also examined. Parallel performance is compare with the commercial code and developed code shows superior performance as the number of CPUs used are increased.

  • This paper describes on-board decentralized data acquisition system that acquires and encodes the numerous sensor data distributed on the big flight vehicles efficiently. The system's sub-units which have one encoder unit and several remote units were designed and simulated according to the communication protocols and the control, sequence logics based on the FPGA chip. And we have made the functional verification of the acquisition, collection and formatting of remote analog and digital data for the manufactured hardwares.

  • Telemetry link is dynamic communication link that antenna gain and polarization are varying with the movement of the airplane. In this paper we calculated the antenna gain, polarization mismatch using the flight trajectory, motion of the airplane and 3D antenna pattern. And we modeled the multipath environment to the 2-Ray spherical earth reflection geometry, estimated the received signal strength when the narrow beam antenna received the RF signal transmitted from the airplane. Also we performed the flight test and after comparing measured value with the estimated value, we confirmed to almost coincide with each other.

  • This paper proposes design and development of the Integrated Ground Support System (IGSS) for the flight test of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which combines ground support and ground control. The integrated flight test of the UAV is a necessary procedure to validate the functionality of the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). In order to execute cost-effective and systematic flight tests, the IGSS is regarded as an inevitable infrastructure of UAS for small laboratories. The proposed IGSS has functions of ground control, radio communication, power generation, transportation and the maintenance of the UAV.

  • The tracking radar systems in NARO space center are used in order to acquire the TSPI (Time, Space, and Position Information) data of the launch vehicle. The tracking radar produce the measurements of tracked targets in the radar-centered coordinate system. When the tracking radar is in the Cartesian/Polar tracking mode, the state vector data is sent in radar-centered Cartesian/Polar coordinate system to RCC. RCC also send the slaving data in Test Range coordinate system to the tracking radar. So, the tracking radars have to transform the slaving data in Test Range coordinate system into in radar-centered coordinate system. In this study, we described the coordinate transformation between radar-centered coordinate system and Test Range coordinated system.
