세계 항공기산업은 새로운 기술과 새로운 전략, 이른바 ‘차세대’라는 단어로 대변될 수 있는 다음세대를 위한 개발과 전략의 변화를 겪고 있다. 먼저 군용기의 경우 미국의 F-35가 첫 선을 보이면서 차세대 전투기의 새장을 열어가고 있으며 우리나라 역시 T-50/A-50, 한국형헬리콥터(KHP)개발, 조기경보기 도입 등 공군력 강화를 위한 준비들이 단계적으로 이루어지고 있어 그에 따른 산업발전이 기대되고 있다. 민간 항공기를 살펴보면 A-380과 같은 대형 항공기 개발 추세와 A320과 B737과 같은 Narrow-body 항공기 생산이 증가하는 양상을 보이고 있다. 또한 개인용 소형제트기(VLJ)와 같은 항공기들은 차세대 틈새시장(niche market)을 형성, 발전가능성을 열어가고 있다. 민간항공기의 향후 생산전망을 살펴보면, 대형여객기의 경우 2015년까지 총 7,900여대로 연평균 800여대의 생산이 이루질 전망이며 헬리콥터의 경우 연평균 1,870여대로 총 18,730여대의 헬리콥터가 생산될 전망으로 약 1,200억불의 시장을 형성할 것으로 전망되고 있다. 이렇듯 군용기 시장에서는 차세대의 첨단 항공기 개발과 양산이 가시화되고 있으며 민간항공기의 경우, 특정 세분시장(market segment)의 주도적 개발과 양산보다는 비즈니스 환경의 변화와 고객층의 다양화로 인해 각 시장의 고객 니즈(needs)에 부합되는 다양한 항공기 개발과 양산이 이루어질 것으로 보인다.

산업의 고도화에 따라 시간을 절약하고 공간을 활용하기 위한 방법으로서, 보다 큰 항공기, 보다 빠른 항공기에 대한 요구가 꾸준히 제기된다. 최근 불거진 지구온난화에 대한 이슈는 모든 산업의 초점을 친환경으로 돌려고 있어서, 항공기산업의 경우에도 예외 없이 보다 친환경적이고, 연료 효율적인 항공기개발에 집중하고 있다. 또한, 과거에 비해 자유의지가 강조되는 현재에는 보다 이용이 간편한 개인용 항공기의 출현이 요구되고 있어 이 분야에 대한 연구도 활발히 진행 중이다. 이에 따라 많은 국가들이 각각의 요구에 따라 초대형여객기(VLCT), 차세대 초음속여객기(HSCT), 그린항공기, 개인 자가용 항공기(PAV) 등의 형태로 개발을 서두르고 있으며, 일부 분야는 이미 상용화를 눈앞에 두고 있다. 특히 PAV의 수요는 향후에 자동차 시장의 일부를 대체할 것으로 예상되는 만큼 선진국들은 수요자의 요구에 따라 발 빠르게 대응하여 PAV에 대한 투자를 아끼지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 미래형 항공교통수단의 개발전망과 동향을 분석함으로써 앞으로 우리나라 항공기산업의 발전방향에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 특히 틈새 시장으로서의 PAV 분야의 개발동향과 전망을 살펴봄으로써, 동 분야에 대한 연구개발과 투자를 통한 우리나라 항공기산업의 발전기회를 모색해 보고자 하였다.

In this paper, I will introduce brief history and industrial structure of japanese aircraft industry, and analyze the reasons of recent restructuring of it. Even though japanese aircraft industry is known as having a high level technologies, it has faced serious problems since 1990's, because of the end of cold war, economic shrinking, fast development of new entrants such as China, and political relationship of her most important ally, U.S.A. But after 2000, realizing situation will be worse if nothing changed, japan started restructuring of aircraft industry. Restructuring has been carried out not only in the industry, but also in the whole national decision making system including government organization such as METI and R&D organization, JAXA. Almost at the same time, a few new plans, including MRJ Project, were built to revitalize the aircraft industry. Watching the process of these tries might be necessary to understand, analyze, and anticipate japan and world's future aircraft industry, which this paper is aiming at.

항공기 소음 규제 단계(stage) IV를 앞두고 세계의 주요 항공기 및 항공기 엔진 회사들은 자사의 존망을 걸고 저소음 관련 기술 개발에 전력을 기울이고 있다. 이런 항공산업계의 경쟁은 자국의 산업을 보호하고자 하는 국익과 맞물려 미국과 유럽 간의 무역분쟁으로 치닫고 있는 형국이다. 반면에 우리나라는 주요 민간항공기나 항공기 엔진 제작회사가 없는 관계로 이러한 전세계적 경쟁에서 한 발 물러나 있는 실정이다. (중략)

After 2001, the world aircraft industry grows consistently with world's economic recovery. The environmental changes after 9.11, including the market decent and revival, rise in oil price, and the environmental problems, make the aircraft industry change gradually. The increasing demand of point-to-point flight needs over 200 seat class large jets and changes the main model of regional jet over 100 seat class. And the needs of various flight schedule raises the demand of business jet and VLJ. The competition between airliners including the main streams, the regionals and the low prices goes harder and it needs more efficient airplanes which reduce the cost. In the military side, still the development of 5th generation fighter is proceeding and it diffuses to the more countries. Before its popularization, the 4th generation fighter is chosen for good alternatives of it. And there are some changes in the military demand after the war against terrorism. The army needs more unmanned reconnaissance and they want new aircraft which gives more accessibility.

내충돌성(crashworthiness)은 항공기 추락시 탑승객을 보호할 수 있는 항공기와 그 내부 시스템 및 구성품의 성능으로 정의할 수 있다. 민간 항공 분야에서 내충돌성에 대한 체계적인 연구가 시작된 것은 1980년대로서 90년대에 이르러서야 감항 기준으로서 완성되게 된다. 항공기의 안전성과 관련된 주요 설계 요건들이 이미 50-60년대에 기본적인 틀을 갖추었다는 점을 감안하면 내충돌성과 관련된 설계 요구조건은 상대적으로 새로 운 설계 개념으로 생각할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 회전익 항공기를 중심으로 내충돌성 확보를 위해 고려해야 할 사항을 살펴보고, 현재 민간 회전익 항공기에 적용되고 있는 주요한 내충돌성 설계기준을 소개하도록 한다.

The great recession which caused by financial crisis made steep rise of oil price and the serious problems of the aircraft industry. High oil price increases operating cost and the recession decreases air traffic. After a period of high book order and delivery from global economic recovery, the aircraft order fell down suddenly. Also the Aircraft price and lease rate deceased and the MRO market is reduced, too. But, the air cargo and passenger increase again since late of 2009. So, it is difficult to predict the market movement, most of the forecasters agreed that the air traffic and aircraft demand will grow gradually in long term with the growth of emerging markets like China, India and Africa. And more efficient, safe and clean aircraft is needed and will need in the market.
