The relationship of trait anger and social avoidance with workplace bullying victimization among male and female office workers: The moderating effects of organizational climate (남녀 사무직 직장인의 특성분노, 사회적 회피, 직장 내 괴롭힘 피해 간 관계: 조직 분위기의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Workplace bullying is becoming one of social issues. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the contextual variables(communication climate, social climate) moderate the relations between the individual variables(trait anger, social avoidance) and workplace bullying victimization. The self-report data of 207 office workers(115 men, 92 women) in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do was analyzed. The results of hierarchical regression indicate that trait anger positively predicted men's workplace bullying victimization only when social climate is bad. Social avoidance positively predicted men's bullying victimization only when communication climate is good. There was no moderating effect of the contextual variables among women. Trait anger positively predicted women's workplace bullying victimization only when considering communication climate as a contextual variable. Social avoidance has no significant effect on women's workplace bullying victimization. However, both communication climate and social climate negatively predicted women's victimization. The implications and suggestions for prevention and intervention of workplace bullying were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a leisure activity for improvement of personal life and career of Korean workers. To do this, DIY was selected as a method of leisure activity that minimizes cost, time and space contraints. As a method of research, I did case study for investigating the characteristics of existing leisure activities. In addition, I examined the needs about cooking activity through an in-depth interview with 8 workers whose hobby is cooking. As a result, two essential elements were derived. First, it is necessary to establish a clear scope and content of the brand. Secondly, a platform for sharing activity is needed. This study is significant in that it suggests the way to improve leisure activity of workers. After this study, it is expected that it will help to spread leisure activities of workers through the design of leisure activities plan.

Gender difference in Quality of Life Among Workers with Diabetes Mellitus (직장인 당뇨병 환자의 성별에 따른 삶의 질 영향요인의 차이)

  • This study identifies the factors influencing Quality of Life (QoL) in both male and female workers with diabetes mellitus and examines the differences between them. Using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) for 2010-2017, 1693 workers (1082 males; 611 females), aged 19 or over, with diabetes mellitus were enrolled in the study. Data were analyzed by complex sample linear regression using SPSS/WIN 23.0. The factors influencing QoL differed between males and females. The common factors included household income, education, job, stress, disease duration, and disease complications. The additional factors in males included working style, and, in females included age, marital status, drinking habits, and the treatment and control of the disease. Males had a higher QoL than females in all the sub-factors. Patients with diabetes mellitus require gender-specific intervention and governmental and social policies that can support it must be developed.

  • It is usually perceived that there is conditional difference between the working students and the non-working students in distance learning. In this paper, we surveyed attendances in distance learning courses to verify the differences in faithfulness, studying time, completion of contents looking. The results are analysed and reported.

  • 직장-가정에 대한 연구는 구성원의 직장생활과 가정생활과의 조화를 통해 업무성과 및 생산성, 생활 만족, 직무스트레스 등의 제고를 위한 방안도출에 매우 중요하다. 하지만 직장-가정 갈등과 관련하여 일반조직에 대한 선행연구는 많이 이루어졌지만, 일정한 질서의 조직편제를 갖춘 경찰조직과 같은 준 군대조직, 위험성, 정치성이 있는 조직에 대한 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 경찰청이라는 특수한 조직의 직원에 대한 직장-가정갈등과의 원인의 결정요인을 고찰하고자 한다.

Converged Study of Influencing Factors on Occupational Stress in Workers (직장인의 직무스트레스 영향요인에 대한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this converged study was to examine the influencing factors on occupational stress in Korean workers. Data were collected with a convenience sample of 207 male workers living in Jeollanam-do region. The structured questionnaires measured the general and job-related factors, social support, and occupational stress. The results were as follows. (1) About half of participants had higher scores in occupational stress. (2) The annual income, supervisors' support, and coworkers' support were statistically significant variables predicting the level of occupational stress among Korean workers, accounting for 36% of the variability. The results of the study indicate that it is necessary to establish strategic workforce planning for workers to reduce occupational stress.

Relationships among Bullying in Workplace, Burnout, and Emotional Intelligence of Korean Physician Assistant (PA) Nurses (전담간호사의 직장 내 괴롭힘과 소진, 감성지능간의 관계)

  • The intention of this study was to investigate relationship of PA (Physician Assistant) nurses' workplace bullying, burnout and emotional intelligence. Research respondents were 150 PA nurses who are working at 19 different hospitals from 5 cities and provinces and the collected data were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 program. This study discovered that 20.7% of PA nurses had experienced workplace bullying and 54.7% had witnessed workplace bullying. The workplace bullying scored 2.14 (on a 4-point scale), emotional intelligence scored 4.88 (on a 7-point scale), and burnout scored 3.22 (on a 7-point scale). As a result of correlation analysis, as workplace bullying was higher, the level of burnout was greater, while as the emotional intelligence was higher, the level of burnout was lower. Thus, there is a need for improvement plan for bullying in workplace to alleviate PA nurses' burnout and strategy to improve emotional intelligence and develop education and program.

  • Employee's workplace satisfaction of claim adjusting company, who assesses the loss of catastrophe, have a direct influence on the loss evaluation job. Eventually their satisfaction would affect the compensation satisfaction of victims, therefore it is one of important factors for victims's compensation satisfaction. This paper analyzes empirically the determinants of employee's satisfaction to their firm for a claim adjusting company. As a result of the empirical research, it is found that the statistically significant determinant are the psychological factor, the organizational factor, and the individual factor. Among the significant factors, the psychological factor has the biggest positive factor. And the organizational factor and the individual factor is next with similar positive measurement. But the cognitive factor is not statistically significant. A claim adjusting company may use the research result for the improvement of employee's workplace satisfaction.
