  • Here, we have described and illustrated a new endemic species of Scutellaria orthocalyx. This species, from Jeju-do, Korea, is clearly distinguished from other species of Scutellaria orthocalyx, especially its close relative, Scutellaria orthocalyx has relatively many leaves further down the stem. The shape of leaves begins linear and becomes lanceolate. Scutellaria orthocalyx can also have long shaped leaves on the upper part. Scutellaria baicalensis by linear, terete, fistulous and long leaves. A index to these species is provided.

  • Three species belong to the genus Laboulbenia were collected on Carabidae (Coleoptera) and Harpalidae (Coleoptera) from several regions of Korea. Laboulbenia anoplogenii Thaxter was collected from Stenolophus quinquepustulatus Widemann. The characters of this species are the fourth layer of receptacle consisted of two or three cells and the distal end of its posterior cell projecting upward. The thalli were produced on posterior and anterior legs of the hosts. Laboulbenia habui Terada was collected from Chlaenius variicornis Bates. This species is characterized by the basal cells of the secondary appendage composed of short-cylindrical cells, arranged alternately on a double row. The thalli were produced from the elytra and anterior abdomen of the hosts. Laboulbenia pallida Thaxter was collected from Anisodactylus signatus Panzer. This species is distinguished from other related species by the rounded tip of perithecium and the outer appendage branched on the basal cell. The thalli were produced on the posterior elytra of the hosts.

  • Six species of the family Tetraodontidae collected from coastal waters of Korea were described with photographs, all of which are unreported previously from Korea. They are Lagocephalus inermis (Temminck et Schlegel), Takifugu alboplumbeus (Richardson), T. pseudommus (Chu), T. reticularis (Tien, Cheng et Wang), Arothron hispidus (Linnaeus) and A. nigropunctatus (Bloch et Schneider).

  • Synanthedon velox (Fixsen) is redescribed and the genus Bembecia is reported for the first time from Korea with B. pavicevici To$\check{s}$evski. Description, images of the adult, genitalia, and the Korean common names of two species are provided. Their host plants are listed and their biology is briefly summarized.

  • In this study, we isolated endophytic fungal strains from the rhizoid and the leaf of Mnium heterophyllum and Hypnum plumaeforme, respectively. The isolated strains were identified based on morphological characters and molecular analysis of the internal transcribed spacer, large subunit rDNA, β-tubulin, and RNA polymerase II subunit regions. From the results, we confirmed two endophytic fungal species, Cercophora thailandica, and Biscogniauxia petrensis, which to the best of our knowledge, have not yet been reported in Korea. We further describe the morphological characteristics and the results of the molecular analyses of these isolated fungal strains.

  • Eighteen species in 15 genera of anthribids have been reported from Korea. Four species of anthribids, Enedreytes gotoi Shibata, Sympaector rugirostris (Sharp), Litocerus securus (Boheman), and Rhaphitropis truncatoides Morimoto are added to the list for the first time in Korea. Thus Korean anthribids fauna have 22 species in 19 genera.

  • For the study of species diversity and distribution of Melanophyllum in Korea, M. eyrei and M. haematospermum were identified with unrecorded species and reported species, respectively. Their identification were confirmed based on macroand microscopic descriptions as well as ITS region sequence data. We give a Korean name 'Cheongheukjureumbeoseot' for M. eyrei and provided full description for M. haematospermum due to incomplete previous description.
