Resonant Transmission of a Rectangular Waveguide Probe with H-type Small Aperture (H-형태 소형 개구를 가진 직사각형 도파관 탐침의 공진 투과)

  • As a microwave near field probe for near field scanning optical microscope(NSOM) system, H-shaped(ridge type) small aperture is proposed and its performances from the viewpoints of the transmission efficiency(transmission cross section) and spatial confinement(beam spot size) are compared with those of the previous narrow rectangular aperture type. While the transmission efficiencies are comparable to each other for the two structures, the transmitted beam spot size for the proposed H-shaped aperture is much smaller than that for the previous rectangular aperture. This strong point of the H-shaped aperture is expected to significantly improve near-field optical applications such as optical data storage, nanolithography and nanomicroscopy. It is also observed that the transmission efficiency can be improved if the coupling aperture is implemented in the type of the transmission cavity.

Association between periodontitis and hypertriglyceridemia in Korean adults aged 30 and older : based on data from 2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (만 30세 이상 성인에서 치주염과 고중성지방혈증과의 연관성 : 2015년 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to analyze the association between dyslipidemia and periodontitis in Korean adults aged 30 and older. Methods: We examined 3,992 subjects participating in the 2015 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Periodontal status was evaluated using the community periodontal index (CPI). People with 3 or 4 CPI codes were classified as the periodontitis group. For statistical analyses, chi-square test and logistic multiple regression were used. Results: The prevalence of periodontitis was higher in men, people aged 70 and over, people whose income status was among the lower 25%, and people whose educational level was high school or lower (p<0.001). The prevalence of periodontitis was higher in people who brushed their teeth twice or less, those who did not use interdental cleaning devices, those who did not have a dental checkup in the last 12 months, and those who had not drunk or smoked (p<0.05). The prevalence of periodontitis was increased with individuals whose BMI was ≥25 kg/㎡, those whose glycated hemoglobin was ≥6.5%, and whose lipid levels were higher or lower than the normal range. In the logistic regression model, an increase in triglyceride was found to increase the prevalence of periodontitis (p<0.05). Conclusions: The study suggests that dyslipidemia, especially hypertriglyceridemia, is a predictor of periodontitis.

Effects of Dried Green Tea Leaf Powder of Serum on Lipid Concentrations in Rats Fed High Fat (녹차 건분이 고지방식이 급여에 의한 흰쥐의 지질 농도에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of dried green tea leaf powders on serum lipid concentrations were evaluated in rats. Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing $100{\pm}10g$ were divided into six groups and fed high fat diets for six weeks. Experimental groups were administered with following diets; Normal fat diet and normal and high fat diets with 1% dried green tealeaf powders. Tissue weights of liver, lung, stomach, heart, kidney and spleen of high fat diet exposed rats were reduced by dried green tea leaf powders groups. The concentrations of serum triglyceride in rats fed the dried green tea leaf powders were lower than those in other groups. The concentrations of total cholesterol in green tea leaf powders the were lower than those in high fat diet groups. The concentrations of HDL-cholesterol in serum of the dried leaf powders green tea were significantly higher than those of other groups. The levels of LDL-cholesterol in serum of the dried green tea leaf powders groups were tended to be lower than those of other groups. GPT and GOT were decreased in dried green tea leaf powders groups and than in the high fat group. LDHase was lower in the dried green tea leaf powders groups than in the high fat group. These results suggest that dried leaf powders green tea groups may reduce elevated levels of serum lipid concentrations in rats fed high fat diets.

Effect of Gastrodiae rhizoma Powder on Serum and Liver Lipid Levels of Rats with High Fat Diet (고지방 식이와 병행 섭취한 천마 분말이 흰쥐의 혈청 및 간 조직 지질 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to study the effects of Gastrodiae rhizoma on lipid concentration of serum and liver in rats fed high fat diet. Male Sprague-Dawley rat were randomly assigned to 5 groups such as basal diet only(BDG), high fat diet(HFG) and high fat diet with 5% processed Gastrodiae rhizoma(GRL), high fat diet with 10% processed Gastrodiae rhizoma(GRM), high fat diet with 15% processed Gastrodiae rhizoma(GRH) supply each of the experimental diets for 6 weeks. Food intake was significantly decreased by both high fat intake and high fat with Gastrodiae rhizoma intake compared with basal diet intake but weight gain was not significantly different from each groups. Liver weights were significantly lowered by Gastrodiae rhizoma intake compared with high fat intake. In the serum, total cholesterol was not significantly different with each groups, but triglyceride level was significantly lowered by Gastrodiae rhizoma intake as compared with control. In the liver, lipid levels inceased with the Gastrodiae rhizoma intake, but total cholesterol and triglyceride levels were not significantly different with control. These results showed that dietary Gastrodiae rhizoma as supplementary food may decrease triglyceride in the serum.

Analysis of the General and Mineral Compositions of Kamut Powder and Effect of Kamut(Triticum turanicum Jakubz) Powder and Its Effect on Blood Parameters in Mice Fed a High-Fat Diet Supplement (카무트 분말가루의 영양성분 분석 및 고지방식이 섭취 시 카무트 분말가루의 첨가가 흰쥐 체내에서 혈중 대사 인자에 미치는 영향)

  • This study, analyzed the general and minerals composition of kamut and investigated its effect on blood components in mice fed a high fat diet. The content of each general component of kamut was as follows: $11.02{\pm}0.75%$ water, $13.16{\pm}1.28%$ crude protein, $1.85{\pm}0.19%$ crude fat, and $1.97{\pm}0.13%$ ash. The leptin level was the highest in the HF group($30.00{\pm}0.00ng/mL$) when compared to the control group. There was a significant decrease of $23.65{\pm}5.54ng/mL$ in the HFK group when compared to the HF group (p<0.05). The blood LDL-cholesterol concentration was the lowest in the control group at $10.00{\pm}2.00mg/dL$. The level was highest in the HF group at $28.00{\pm}0.00mg/dL$ when compared with the other groups (p<0.05). The aspartate transaminase (AST) level was significantly higher in the HFK group ($179.33{\pm}173.88U/L$) than in the control ($61.00{\pm}12.73U/L$) and HF groups ($132.00{\pm}0.00U/L$). According to the results of this study, the consumption of kamut lowers the blood LDL-cholesterol level more than the consumption of wheat flour. Additionally, kamut contains antioxidant substances such as selenium and zinc, which are thought to contribute to vascular health and thus aid in maintaining good health. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a variety of health foods using kamut; it should be used as a functional food for the maintenance of good health.

Anti-Oxidative and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Green Tea Mixture and Dietary Fiber on Liver of High Fat Diet-Induced Obese Rats (고지방 식이로 유도된 비만 흰쥐의 간에서 식이섬유와 녹차혼합물의 항산화 및 항염증 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate anti-oxidative and inflammatory inhibition effects of green tea and dietary fiber mixture on liver of high fat diet-induced obese rats. 21 male rats were divided into 3 dietary groups and control group (A), high fat diet-induced group (B), and high fat (HF) diet-induced + EQ diet-$S^{(R)}$ diet group (C). Immunoblotting and RT-PCR analysis revealed protein expression, and anti-oxidant analysis revealed MDA (malondialdehyde), GSH (glutathione), and free DPPH radical. As a results, Body weight and food consumption were not significantly different between groups. The levels of MDA and GSH were lower in HF + $EQS^{(R)}$ group than in HF group. Also, the $EQS^{(R)}$ demonstrated to be more effective than HF group for a DPPH radicals scavenging activities. In addition, protein and mRNA level of TNF-$\alpha$ in HF + $EQS^{(R)}$ group showed relatively more potent pro-inflammatory activity inhibition compared to HF group. These results suggest that green tea mixture (EQ diet-$S^{(R)}$) provide positive effects on anti-oxidative and inflammatory inhibition effects on obese animal model or obesity related diseases.

  • This study was to compare the effects of soy hot water extract, soy slurry, defatted soy flour, soy protein concentration and soy protein isolate on the quality of Busuge Base. In Busuge Base preparation the addition of soy products, in general, showed the improvable effect in the quality of Busuge Base. Among them the soy slurry was especially effective in volume increasing, hardness and panel score, and the soy protein isolate was effective in the protein fortification of Busuge Base. In addition, the qualify of Busuge Base was best when soy slurry and soy protein isolate were jointly used. In this case, the adequate amount of soy protein isolate was about 10%.

담배연기 없는 맑은 화성 만들기 사업 평가

  • 2008년부터 화성시에서는 담배연기 없는 맑은 화성 만들기 사업에 착수하였다. 이는 흡연으로 인한 사망 및 질환 유병의 감소, 간접흡연에의 노출, 감소 개인행위 통제를 위한 역량 강화, 지역사회 협력체계 구축 및 지원적 환경의 조성을 목적으로 하고 있다. 포괄적 흡연통제프로그램 모델을 기반으로 하여 각기 적합한 환경을 위한 수행전략과 실행계획을 수립하였다 ; 담배연기 없는 환경조성, 홍보 및 캠페인, 금연클리닉을 통한 교육, 상담의 금연프로그램 운영, 모니터링과 평가, 사업관리를 위한 지침과 교육 등. 2008년 1년 동안 총 1714명이 금연클리닉을 방문하였으며, 이중 90%는 금연시도 4주간, 57%는 6개월 동안 금연상태를 유지하였다. 6개월 동안 금연상태를 유지한 대상 중 67%는 50세 이하 연령이었으며, 6개월 동안 금연상태를 유지한 대상 중 28%에게는 행동수정요법을 적용하였다. 금연환경 조성을 위해 지역사회내 건물과 시설을 모니터링하였으며, 경로당, 유치원, 초등학교, 문화재 등과 같은 특정 환경에 초점을 맞춘 교육과 관리를 수행하였다. 또한 2009년 사업추진방향설정을 위해 지역사회주민들 대상으로 하는 금연정책에 대한 전화조사를 실시하였다. 건강한 도시를 구축하기 위해서는 모든 지역사회구성원을 대상으로 하는 다양하고 효과적인 프로그램을 지속적으로 추진하는 것이 필요하다. 특히 학생, 가족, 학교, 지역사회와 정부간의 담배 없는 화성을 만들기 위한 협력적 관계 구축이 무엇보다 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 향후 보다 나은 사업추진을 위해 현상황에 대한 분석을 토대로 적절한 전략을 개발하는 것이 필요하다.

  • 맑은 화성을 만들기 위하여 지역주민의 통제력을 강화시키고 금연을 지원하는 환경을 조성함으로써 흡연으로 인한 질병과 사망 및 간접흡연의 노출을 감소시키는 것을 목적으로 두고 있다. 미국 CDC에서 제안한 "Best Practices for Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program"에 기반한 중재 프로그램을 개발하여, 사업을 추진하였으며, 사업 추진체계를 금연환경, 금연교육 및 캠페인 운영관리 매뉴얼 개발, 금연프로그램, 감시 및 평가 5개 영역으로 구분되었다. 화성시보건소 금연사업은 매월 1일은 건강도시 화성시의 금연DAY로 지정함으로써 체계적이고 종합적인 금연홍보를 하고 있다. 어디서든 화성시 금연사업의 슬로건을 볼 수 있으며, 다양한 매체를 통하여 접해볼 수 있다 더구나 지역적 특성을 고려하여 권역별(서부권, 동부권, 남부권)의 특징을 살려 금연환경 조성 및 홍보, 이동클리닉을 하고 있으며, 환경조성으로 금연거리, 공원, 문화재, 마을, 선도학교 등을 지속적으로 관리중이며, 다양한 매체를 활용한 홍보, 생활 속 금연을 위한 대상별 캠페인 및 교육 등으로 화성시의 금연물결을 불고 있다. 감시 및 평가로 금연프로그램에 대한 평가를 설문을 통해 실시할 예정이며, 아동 및 청소년의 흡연특성을 조사하여 내년 사업 방향을 수립할 예정이다. 앞으로 담배연기 없는 맑은 화성시를 위하여 금연 버스 정류장과 금연아파트 및 금연 금연성공자 사례집 발간 등으로 슬로건을 앞세운 다양한 사업을 통하여 화성시의 금연율 향상 및 건강증진을 기대해본다.

Lactic Acid Fermentation of Chestnut Broth (밤 용액의 젖산발효)

  • For lactic acid fermentation of chestnut broth,10 strains of bacteria were isolated from human feces and commercial yogurt,6 of which were identified to be Bifidobacterium and the rest isolated from Acidities of the chestnut broths fermented by these strains were lower than yogurt, but more than two times higher than yogurts made from seeds or vegetables including soy milk. To stimulate acidity of the fermented broths, addition of yeast extract and tryptone peptone were the most effective at the concentration of 0.2 and 0.4%, respectively, while glucose addition above 0.5% up to 8% did not increased the acid production except a few strains of Lactoba- Cillus. Among the tested fruits and vegetables, carrot juice supplementation was the most effective in acid produc- tion by most of the tested strains. Saccharification of chestnut broth by hydrolyzing process greatly increased the acid production at 25% of cooked chestnut. However, compared to the results from the 8% of unhydrolyzed chest- nut, the net increase in acid production by hydrolysis was not much stimulative.
