  • The purpose of this study was to determine postoperative quality of life(QoL), thyroid specific symptoms(TSSs), self care compliance, anxiety and depression in patients with papillary thyroid cancer and to identify factors influencing their postoperative QoL. 154 patients were surveyed using structured questionnaires and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. The mean score of postoperative QoL in the subjects was 2.72 and the postoperative QoL score of social/family well being subscale showed the lowest score. Most of the subjects suffered from TSSs such as fatigue, cold intolerance, and mood swings. The most frequent activity for self care compliance was taking thyroid hormone(100%) and OPD follow up was the second activity(99.4%). Anxiety score was 45.3 indicating a medium level however 63% of the subjects were evaluated as depression status. Postoperative QoL in thyroid papillary cancer patients showed significantly negative correlations to TSSs, anxiety, and depression (r=-.573, p<.001; r=-.739, p<.001; r=-.742, p<.001). The factors influencing postoperative QoL were TSSs, anxiety, and depression, which explained about 64.9% of the variance. Thus to improve postoperative QoL in patients with papillary thyroid cancer, health care providers should relieve negative emotions related to long term cancer management, develop the support system and provide practical information to apply patients' physical, and psychological symptoms control.

  • The virtual community has been recognized as an effective marketing tool and has been an important motive of using internet to Internet users, but very few attempts have been done for the development of virtual community success. Although many studies have been made on influencing factors of virtual community success, the comprehensive studies have never been done so far. Therefore, this study focused on developing the comprehensive model and verifying empirically. This study proposed five influencing factors(Virtual Community Operational factor, Characteristics of Users, Usefulness, Trust, Commitment) that affect virtual community success and three success factors(Sense of Virtual Community, Loyalty, Purchasing Intention) by carrying out literature review extensively and suggesting the relationship among factors. The relationship among factors were empirically validated by structural equation modeling. The data used in this study were collected from 292 users of the existing virtual communities. As the result of statistical analysis. It was found that Virtual Community Operational Factor and Characteristics of Users statistically significantly influenced Virtual Community Success. Also, it was shown that the intervening effects of Usefulness, Trust and Commitment were statistically significant, but that the relationship between commitment and Loyalty was not statistically significant. Finally, it turned out that the causality among success variables of Virtual Community was supported, but that sense of Virtual Community was required to be measured by new measurements.

  • The cracks in the pavements result from drying shrinkage, temperature change, repeated traffic loadings and so on. The reduction of soil support, spatting and many local failures are caused by water and incompressible foreign materials infiltrated into the cracks. In order to reduce this kind of problems the crack width must be controlled and managed by the accurate measurement. The current method is a visual survey using a microscope, which requires traffic blocking. The purpose of this study is to find the best condition to measure accurate crack width using automated pavement condition survey equipment running at the similar speed as other vehicles. In this study pavement surfaces are filmed on an enlarged scale by the camera with a zoom lens, and then the proper focal distance is determined according to the crack width through a pilot survey. The conditions for measurement of the accurate crack width using the image processing technique are suggested by comparing crack widths surveyed using a microscope in the field with those computed by various factors in the image processing program, STADI-2. In conclusion, the camera with a focal distance of 75m could detect crack range of 0.5mm$\sim$1.2mm In width with an accuracy of 80% for CRCP. The camera with a focal distance of 12.5mm could detect crack range of 1.8mm$\sim$3.3mm in width with an accuracy of 90% for asphalt pavement.

  • Traditionally, keyboards have been one of the most frequently used input devices for information processing using computers. As most computers adopt the Microsoft Windows for their operating system however, the usage of mouse has recently increased to a great extent. Moreover, the mouse has been used as the leading input device in such areas as industrial design and computer aided design. Excessive uses of mouse may cause a severe pain and fatigue on neck and upper limb due to the intensive and repetitive use of corresponding muscles, which renders a decline in efficiency and leads to musculoskeletal disorders. The main purpose of this study is to find the best working conditions to prevent musculoskeletal disorders when using mouse in a neutral posture. Utilizing electromyogram amplitude and Borg's scale, the role change and strength imposed on the muscles were measured and analyzed with and without the forearm support concerned. Also investigated were the effects of changes in elbow forearm supporter.

  • While multiple medication is an important global medication safety issue, ununified concomitant medication by multiple prescriptions may cause more severe problems by the fact that those are neither intended nor watched. This could cause therapy duplication and severe drug interaction and etc. Korean Government made region wide scale programs twice to detect such problems and give warnings to pharmacists and doctors through the internet system in 2009-2010, which are called Drug Use Review Services Pilot Project. This study is an analysis and comparison of the results of the two DUR pilot projects. There were 5.0 and 4.2 cases of severe drug interaction by the concomitant medication of multiple doctors' prescriptions per 10 thousand prescriptions, while only 0.37 and 0 cases by the medication of same doctor's prescription(s). There were 426 and 381 cases of drug duplication by the concomitant medication of multiple doctors' prescriptions per 10 thousand cases, while only 197 and 23 cases by medication of same doctors' prescription(s). Doctors' participation to those projects improved at Jejudo the later one compared to Goyangsi the former, which means the efforts of them to make less prescription problems succeeded to decrease the number of cases caused from same doctor's prescription. But they could not decrease the number of problem cases caused from concomitant medication by multiple doctors prescriptions enough. The findings support the issue of strengthening and widening the project nation wide and the issue of recommending the patients to designate their own pharmacy, which can provide them counseling for unified and safety controlled medication.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of supportive nursing intervention on patient's response of anxiety in emergency room as the suspected experimental research sequentially designed for the unequal control group. This study collected the data from 100 patients including 50 patients of experimental group and 50 patients of control group in emergency room of the only one university hospital from July 12. to September 30, 1999. This study used questionnaires that Kim, Jung Taek and Shin. Dong Kyun revised the measurement of STAI(State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) of Spielberger(1972) to measure their anxiety with using physical. spiritual. and informative support of the supportive nursing intervention, and measured blood pressure. pulse and respiration by physiological response of anxiety. After then. this study analyzed the frequency and percentage by using SPSS 7.5 program, $x^2-test$, t-test and ANCOVA. The results are as follows: First hypothesis : the point of STAI of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention(F=22.943, p=.000). Second hypothesis : the sistolic blood pressure of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention(F=42.603. p=.000). Third hypothesis. the diastolic blood pressure of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention(F= 18.482, p=.000). Fourth hypothesis: the pulse of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention. Fifth hypothesis : The respiration of experimental group who received the supportive nursing intervention during emergency room staying will be lower than that of control group without the supportive nursing intervention. In the above-mentioned result. the supportive nursing intervention was considered to be useful intervention that raised the effect on patient's response of anxiety during emergency room staying.

  • We analyzed the unit cell performance against the cathode porosity, which is supposed to be closely related with active sites for the cathode reaction. In order to fabricate the unit cells with different porosity in the cathode layer we changed the mixing ratio of fine and coarse LSCF cathode powders. The final porosity of each cathode layer was 14, 23, 27, $39\%$ respectively. According to the electrochemical analysis of unit cell performance via DC current interruption and AC impedance method, the electrodic polarization resistance was diminished as the cathode porosity increased. The decrease of polarization resistance was attributed due to the increase of active reaction sites and the enhancement of overall unit cell performance could be explained in the same line.

  • In this research, $5\times5cm^2$ unit cells were fabricated via liquid condensation process and uniaxial pressing followed by the screen printing of electrolyte and cathode layer. The SOFC stack was assembled with unit cells, gasket-type sealant and metal interconnect. The stack was designed to have a single column with internal-manifold and cross-flow type gas-channels. The SOFC stack produced 15 W, which is $50\%$ of the maximum power being expected from the maximum power density of the unit cell. Controlling factors for the proper operation of the SOFC stack and other designing factors of stack manifold and gas channels were discussed.

  • Science teachers need to understand what science is, how students learn, how to teach science effectively, and the rationale for their teaching methods. Along this line, this article discusses constructivist learning theory as an alternative to the traditional pedagogy and the origin of various versions of constructivism. Constructivism is defined and used in a variety of contexts including philosophical constructivism, constructivist research paradigm, sociological constructivism, and educational constructivism. Educational constructivism (or psychological constructivism) can be divided into three distinct versions (i.e., individual, radical, and social constructivism) depending on unique ontological and epistemological beliefs that underlie each version. Each version of educational constructivism supports different conceptions of science teaching and learning that are consistent with its specific ontological and epistemological beliefs. In this article, the main tenets of each version of educational constructivism are examined with regard to ontological beliefs, epistemological commitments, and pedagogical beliefs. In addition, two major criticisms on constructivist pedagogy as well as implications for research methods for each version are also discussed.
