  • The railway signal ing system consists of several vital computerized equipments. Now the project for development of signal ing system for the next-general ion high-speed train is progressed according to the consortium. The developing signal ing system by this project, kTCS(Korean Train Control System), is composed of kTCS-CTC, kTCS-IXL, kTCS-ATC and etc. The KTCS signaling has to be operated as a integrated system by interface between each signaling. To achieve these, communicat ion protocols between each signal ing have to be designed and message codes are defined. In this paper the configuration of integrated kTCS system and designed communication protocol is presented.

  • The study was carried out about the design of power Car for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The running resistance accounts toy the greater part of overall resistance to front hue motion. So, The Power Car's shape has to be mainly determined by aerodynamic considerations. In the train configuration of the KHST, the front and rear power cars assume the role of a locomotive. They accommodate all the machinery for providing traction. The train is controlled and monitored from power cars. This report was descrived, which focuses on aerodynamics, mass balance, the car body and the layout of the equipment that is fitted into power car.

  • The study was carried out about the design of the propulsion and the control systems for Korean High Speed Train. The propulsion system was studied to run the maximum operating speed of 350km/h, The capacity of the main equipment is decided for the train to run tile maximum operating speed of 350km/h with the configuration of 2 power cars, 4 motorized trailers and 14 intermediate trailers. The control system was studied to two parts the supply and the control of high and low voltages used at train, The performance study of control system would be continued to update through system analysis according to propulsion system developing.

  • The transmission system of high speed train serve in the severe condition compared with those of other trains, namely, they have to transmit high power to run with high speed and they have to make maximum use of the limited space. To clarify the strength of gear for Korea High-Speed Train, a bending fatigue test of gear specimen is performed and compare with actual gear's. From this result, specimen test is useful to infer S-N curve and endurance limit of actual gear that much time and expense are consumed.

  • This study was carried out about the system engineering, the design, and Mock-up for the development of passenger car of Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The design was studied to carbody section & lay out, ring, fitting, carbody, electrical system based on Korean-TGV. The design of aluminium alloy carbody which was enabled to reduce the weight of carbody structure and was studied with construction of air-tightness. Air pressure controlled system provided to comfort passenger due to a reduction of difference pressure between inside and outside of passenger room on running of the tunnel. The Interior design was performed in order to satisfy high speed and comfort to study by the modern design. The electrical system was designed two parts of logic and network for high reliability of train.

  • In this study, the crashworthiness of KHST is evaluated by analysing a nonlinear spring/bar-damper-mass model using 1 dimensional collision dynamics. The numerical results show that KHST can easily absorb kinetic energy at lower impact force and acceleration in heavy collisions, when compared with KTX. Also, in a light collision like a traint-to-train accident at speed under 8 kph, the carbody and components of KHST can be protected without any damage except a energy absorbing tube to be replaced easily. However, KTX may be much damaged in the light collision because there is no energy absorbing tube. In conclusion, the crashworthy performance of KHST has been much improved than that of KTX, although there remains something to be improved for a better performance.

  • This paper evaluates crashworthiness of KHST carbodies under the SNCF accident scenario (collision against a movable rigid mass of 15 tons at 110 kph) and the scenario of train-to-train collision at 30 kph. The numerical results show that the final design of the KHST power-car doesn't have a good response on crashworthiness. So an improved design has been suggested for it. The improved design has shown good performances in the viewpoint of energy absorption and survival space at several numerical simulations, such as the accident collided against a deformable dump truck of 15 tons at 110 kph, the driver's dummy analysis, and the accident of train-to-train collision for the first three units at 30 kph.

  • The utilization of System Design Data(SDD) based upon Model Based Systems Engineering(MBSE) process is as important as the building of them. This paper describes the development and the utilization of a report template which can extract and modify data we need from SDD. A report template is defined as a set of elements in the Reporting Facility and is created by placing a sequence of Reporting elements onto a Behavior Diagram-like structure called a ReportNet. We focus on the development of a report template to secure and validate requirements traceability.

  • An inverter-driven induction motor is usually adapted to the traction motor for a high speed drive system requiring safety, reliability, performance, compact size owing to the space and weight alloted for attaching to train, etc. and AC Traction motor for G7 train will be operated in the worst condition such as mechanical vibration, limited mounting space, severe thermal stress, inverter with non-sinusoidal voltage waveform, dust and so on. therefore, design procedure must be carefully carried out wi th considering the motor size, vibration and thermal expansion of rotor bars, insulation system, reliability of frame, as well as output characteristics. In this paper, we will inform the characteristics and design of the traction motor for G7 train and also analyze the test result of it.

  • We have been developing the pantograph for Korean High Speed Train for the last five years. To fulfil the following requirements at designed speed of 350km/h : 1) contact loss less than 1 %, 2) aerodynamic noise less than 91dB, 3) average uplift force less than 200N, the pantograph has been modified two times since the first prototype pantograph was manufactured, By means of the following up characteristic test, low speed wind tunnel test, and high speed wind tunnel test for the prototype pantographs, we found that the aerodynamic uplift force did not exceed l60N at speed up to 350km/h and the aerodynamic noise was less than 88dB, that the following up characteristics of the prototype pantograph was excellent.
