A study on the method of conducting a large container vessel safely to the newly built container pier to get alongside in busan harbour (부산항 콘테이너부두에 대형 콘테이너선의 안전접안조종을 위한 연구)

  • In this paper, the authors calculated manoeuvring motions of a large container vessel approaching to the newly built container piers to get alongside to her berth in Busan harbour. The motion calculations were done by using fixed coordinate system and the object of the calculations is to check the manoeuvring motions are safe or not for berthing the large vessel to her berth. The result of calculations manifested that a large container vessel can get alongside to the piers without any difficulty under normal weather conditions by using 2 Z. Peller tug boats of 4500 H.P. each and also these demonstrated it is difficult to conduct and get her alongside to the piers under rough weather conditions of wind force 16.9m/sec or more. Under rough weather conditions of 6 by beaufort scale the average wind velocity is about 13.5m and if we add 25% increase of the normal velocity to it, the wind will becomes a gust of 16.9m/sec. So it is advisable to avoid conducting a large container vessel to the pier under the rough weather conditions of 6 or more by beaufort scale. Also, I is better to use 3 Z. peller tug boats of 4500 HP. each under the above mentioned rough weather in a case of unavoidable circumstances.

Development of Slender Aerodynamic Girder for Suspension Bridges (현수교 세장 내풍 단면의 개발)

  • This study intends to develop an aerodynamic girder for suspension bridge with width corresponding to 1/70 of the main span length. In the first step of present study, parametric study for the effects of major structural properties on aerodynamic stability of bridges was performed. The span length and natural frequency of bridges were found to be free from girder width, girder height, and aspect ratio of width to height. The empirical equation according to confidence interval was proposed to estimate the natural frequencies of bridges from span length. From the sensitivity analysis, it was revealed that the torsional frequency was dominant parameter among various structural properties that affected flutter velocity mostly. The final aerodynamic bridge section which satisfied the flutter criteria was found from section wind tunnel tests for 30 cross sectional models. The aerodynamic stability of the developed cross section was verified by multimode flutter analysis. The present economical cross section can be used for long span suspension bridge.

Development of a Program for Calculating Typhoon Wind Speed and Data Visualization Based on Satellite RGB Images for Secondary-School Textbooks (인공위성 RGB 영상 기반 중등학교 교과서 태풍 풍속 산출 및 데이터 시각화 프로그램 개발)

  • Typhoons are significant meteorological phenomena that cause interactions among the ocean, atmosphere, and land within Earth's system. In particular, wind speed, a key characteristic of typhoons, is influenced by various factors such as central pressure, trajectory, and sea surface temperature. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding based on actual observational data is essential. In the 2015 revised secondary school textbooks, typhoon wind speed is presented through text and illustrations; hence, exploratory activities that promote a deeper understanding of wind speed are necessary. In this study, we developed a data visualization program with a graphical user interface (GUI) to facilitate the understanding of typhoon wind speeds with simple operations during the teaching-learning process. The program utilizes red-green-blue (RGB) image data of Typhoons Mawar, Guchol, and Bolaven -which occurred in 2023- from the Korean geostationary satellite GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK-2A) as the input data. The program is designed to calculate typhoon wind speeds by inputting cloud movement coordinates around the typhoon and visualizes the wind speed distribution by inputting parameters such as central pressure, storm radius, and maximum wind speed. The GUI-based program developed in this study can be applied to typhoons observed by GK-2A without errors and enables scientific exploration based on actual observations beyond the limitations of textbooks. This allows students and teachers to collect, process, analyze, and visualize real observational data without needing a paid program or professional coding knowledge. This approach is expected to foster digital literacy, an essential competency for the future.

진해만 태풍 피항 실태와 사고 감소를 위한 VTS 관제 조치

  • 매년 우리나라 태풍 내습 시에는 진해만으로 피항 선박이 폭주하여 피항선박들의 피항지에서의 해양사고 사고 발생 가능성이 매우 높은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 진해만의 태풍 피항지로서의 특성과 피항선박들의 실태에 대해서 조사 분석하였다. 또한 피항지에서 체류하는 동안 발생한 해양사고 유형을 분석하여 유사사고를 예방하기 위한 대책을 검토하였다. 특히 VTS의 관제를 통한 해양사고경감 방안을 제시함과 동시에 피항선박들 및 선사 및 관련 기관들의 적극적인 협력이 절대적으로 요청되고 있음을 밝혔다.

A Study on the Anchoring Safety Assessment of E-Group Anchorage in Ulsan Port (울산항 E 집단정박지 묘박안전성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study suggests the minimum critical external forces based on the assessment of anchoring safety to single anchor situation for representative 8 number of ships in E-group anchorage of Ulsan port. Assessment of anchoring safety is compared holding powers of anchor with external forces of wind, wave and current. Holding powers was reflected materials of seabed, equipment numbers regarding anchor and chain weight, also external forces acting on a hull was calculated considering projected wind area and wetted surface area to the full and ballast conditions respectively. The results of anchoring safety assessments to single anchor showed that the minimum criteria of dragging anchor is a little different from ship's type, size and loading conditions. Bulk carrier can be dragged over the 15m/s of winds and Tanker can be dragged over the 13m/s of winds in case of less than 2knots of currents speed.

  • 다양한 배출원을 통해 외부로 발산되는 악취유발물질이 생활환경에 미치는 영향을 객관적으로 조사하고 평가하기 위해서는 인간의 감각기관을 이용하는 관능측정법과 화학성분을 분석하는 기기분석법을 동시에 적용하는 것이 필요하다. 그러나 인간의 감각기관을 이용하여야 하는 관능측정법의 경우 판정인이 장시간에 걸쳐 악취현상을 평가할 수 없다는 한계를 갖고 있으며, 기기분석법의 경우도 측정방법의 특성상 장시간 동안 시료를 채취하기 어려운 문제점을 갖고있어 풍향 및 풍속 등 기상조건에 따라 순간적으로 감지되는 취기수준이 다른 악취현상을 명확하게 규명하는데 일정부분의 한계를 갖게된다.   • 맑은 날에도 엷은 상층운이나 난류의 방해로 관측 품질이 저해되는 등 천문 분야는 대기환경에 민감하나, 하층 대기 상태에 비중을 두는 동네예보만으로는 천문 분야의 기상정보에 대한 수요를 충족하기에는 한계가 있다. 이에 천문 관측 환경에 보다 특화된 별밤예보를 개발하여 천체 관측 가능성과 천문 관측 자료의 품질을 좌우하는 대기상태를 UM 국지모델 생산자료를 바탕으로 예보하고자 한다. 예보 요소는 하늘상태(운량), 시상(seeing), 투명도, 암도(darkness) 및 대기청명지수, 풍속, 기온, 습도이다. 대기청명지수는 일반인이 관찰하기 좋은지 여부를 한 눈에 알 수 있게 운량과 투명도, 암도를 종합한 지수로 10~100까지 10단계로 제공할 계획이다. 하늘상태와 풍속, 기온, 습도는 $5{\times}5km$격자마다 제공되는 기상청 동네예보에서 천문대와 가장 가까운 격자의 예보치를 추출하였다. 시상은 대기의 난류 정도에 좌우된다. 그러나 충북의 고층기상 관측자료가 없어서, 시상 예보식을 만들기 위해 UM 국지모델에서 제공하는 각 등압면의 기온과 바람벡터로부터 정적 안정도(온위 경도)와 연직 바람시어를 유도한 뒤, 다중회귀분석으로 시상 예보식을 구하였다. 또한 대기청명지수는 청주기상지청에서 관측한 운량과 밤하늘 밝기 자료를 종속변수, 별의 개수를 독립변수로 하는 다중회귀예측식을 구하였다.

  • Numerical analysis has been performed to investigate the rotor speed and pitch range variations when the airspeed is increased in autorotation. Transient Simulation Method(TSM) was used to obtain the steady states of autorotation. The rotor blade was analyzed by the two-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes solver in order to adapt to the airspeed increase and the results were used in the transient simulation method. Meanwhile, the Pitt/Peters inflow theory was used to supply the induced velocity fields. For the prescribed torque equilibrium state, the combinations of velocity, shaft angle, and pitch angle were produced to investigate the rotor speeds and variable ranges. The rotor tip Mach number and rotor speed were correlated and the trim range of pitch angle was observed with respect to the shaft angle decrease.

  • Risk analysis of highway sign supporting structures and sound barriers was done. Stochastic wind load was modeled by using extreme value distribution from site measurement and the variability of structural parameters was considered. Limit state functions were defined to assess structural stability by wind and risk of highway facilities was analyzed by combining wind hazard. According to the numerical analysis results, sound barrier post shows significantly higher risk than highway sign supporting structures. This is caused by the fact that the design codes of the structures are different. To distribute wind induced risk in highway structures, unification and improvement of design codes are required based on risk assessment.

Structural Safely Analysis of a Modified 1-2W Type Greenhouse Enhanced for Culturing Paprika (착색단고추 재배용 1-2W형 개조온실 구조의 안정성 검토)

  • This study was performed to check the structural safety of modified 1-2W Greenhouses to be utilized fur growing Paprika. This type of greenhouse was derived from being remodeled by enhancing the column height of conventional 1-2W type greenhouses. According to the results of structural analysis performed by SAP-2000, there was not significant change in critical snow depth in spite of increasing the column height of 1.2 m by welding. But the critical wind velocities were shown to be $26.0\sim4l.0m/s$, which were $3\sim18%$ lower wind velocities compared with those critical velocities estimated for typical type of 1-2W greenhouse. Under the wind loads, those maximum section forces such as shear force, axial force, and bending moment, together with the deformed frame shape of strained greenhouse, were almost similar in both typical type and modified type. Maximum bending moment of column was found at eave's height of column on windward side. Under the snow loads, those maximum section forces such as shear farce, axial force, and bending moment, together with the deformed frame shape of strained greenhouse, were almost similar in both typical type and modified type. Maximum section forces except axial force was found at eave's height of column. Maximum axial force was found at inner column. Soil bearing capacity together with the total foundation resistance against wind upheaval was found to be consistently safe enough to resist to both wind load and snow load.
