  • This study aimed to provide a desirable way to design culinary education programs at university by investigating the relationship between student satisfaction with education and job preference based on their high schools. The results of this study showed that a high percentage of students decided to choose culinary arts as their major by themselves. Most students found a career in the culinary field demanding, nevertheless, they appeared to have a strong desire to take up the challenge. Students from culinary high schools showed low satisfaction with their practical cooking courses, while students from vocational high schools seemed to be highly satisfied with those same courses. On the other hand, students from academic high schools showed a high satisfaction with their theory courses, which factored into their decision to choose culinary arts as their major. However, there appeared to be no significant difference in job preference according to the students. Most students, regardless of satisfaction with their education, considered working abroad. On the basis of these results, it is suggested that a culinary training program in universities should be divided tin three groups; academic, vocational & culinary. Each group to have classes in theory, practical and English designed with respect to their prior high school training. In addition, an opportunity for overseas employment should be offered to all three categories.

As a result of the study, the average motivation was 101.29±12.18 points, learning commitment was 72.02±8.03 points, and academic achievement was 31.31±4.06 points. The relationships among learning motivation, learning commitment, and adaptation to college life showed significant positive correlations. In the results of multiple regression analysis, factors influencing the academic achievements of nursing students were found to be learning motivation and learning commitment. Therefore, in order to increase academic achievement in nursing college students, it is necessary to develop a specific strategy to improve learning motivation and to develop various activities and programs to immerse students in learning.

  • Korean youth spend tremendous time in school for preparing for college admissions. Their academic achievement and overall satisfaction with their lives are affected by how well they adapt to life in school. Successful adaptation to school is important enough to affect a student's future social life. One of the factors that affect adaptation to school is the psychological condition of adolescent anxiety. Anxiety is known to be related to behavioral problems, and problems with psychological and emotional adaptation. This condition is dramatically increased in adolescents.Parental conflict in particular is known to be a major factor in affecting youth anxiety. As parental conflict became more severe, children felt more negative emotions such as anger, sadness and worry. Moreover, when a child's issue caused the parental conflict, there were more side effects in the emotional condition of the child. This study shows how parental conflict affects a child's anxiety and a child's school life. This problem is analyzed through structural equation modeling.

Second, students with school maladjustment obtained understanding about their family of origin and confidence for forming their future families. Third, advance learning about meanings and roles of being a parent provided students with opportunities to know importance of responsible sexual behavior. Fourth, practices of basic care with a replica of a new-born baby enhanced participation and concentration level of students with school maladjustment which became extremely effective in obtaining necessary knowledge for the basic care. Fifth, information provision for parent roles according to children's different developmental levels let students recognize that parent's roles change as their children grow and opened a way to grasp the need of parent education. Sixth, education and repetitive practices on reflective listening helped students enhance communication skills which entailed expanding their human relations. Seventh, passing-down of emotion and understanding on child abuse allowed students recognize risks of child abuse as well as the importance and need of skills for controlling emotion. This study sheds lights on the feasibility and effectiveness of a parenting education program for maladjusted or vulnerable students as an effective program for school drop-out prevention.
