  • The present study is to investigate the elements of e-learning strategies affecting the levels of participation, achievement and satisfaction for learners who participated in the university blended learning environment. For this, 58 subjects were recruited who participated in the blended learning class at K university. E-learning strategies, achievement and satisfaction levels were measured for data collection, and the level of participation was measured by analyzing the LMS log-in database. For data analysis, first, means and standard deviation were computed to find the level of e-learning strategies of the subjects. Second, linear regression analysis was conducted to find the e-learning strategies that could estimate the levels of achievement, participation and satisfaction. As a result, variables to estimate the achievement level included time management strategy and overload management strategy. Variables to estimate the participation level included self-directed strategy, time management strategy and overload management strategy. Finally, variables to estimate the satisfaction level included multiple discussion management strategy, asynchronous management strategy and sociality. Based on these estimated variables, the author suggested some ideas to increase the educational effectiveness.

  • As information technology(IT) has been rapidly developed, e-learning is also growing to meet the need of lifelong education using internet. However, with the growth of e-learning has come the big problem of high dropout rates. The purpose of this present study was to identify the major factors influencing drop-out in corporate e-learning. 250 employees(persistence: n=157, dropout: n=93) who enrolled an e-learning course in S company were participated in this study. A logistic regression analysis was performed to identify predictors of dropout. It was determined that individual background(marriage, amount of study time, difficult to combine work and family), learners' characteristics and value of the course were able to predict dropout with nearly 75 percent accuracy.

  • Psychological properties of learners have influence on learning behaviors in various ways. The purpose of this study was to examine how the goal orientation of learners affected the learning time distribution method. Regulatory focus and theories of intelligence were measured and manipulated in order to differentiate participants' goal-oriented state. Two variables are known to be key variables influencing learner's goal orientation, inducing the approach-avoidance strategy and mastery-performance oriented attitude. In the experiment, the control focus was divided into two groups based on the inclination test score (regulatory Focus Questionnaire, RFQ), and TOI(theory of intelligence) was temporally induced through manipulation to confirm the interaction between the two variables. Participants were able to determine the order of learning freely by learning a set of Spanish-Korean word pairs and then selecting the items they would like to re-learn. Word pairs consisted of difficult or easy items, and learners could learn the same word many times if they wanted to. In the results, promotion-incremental group showed allocating difficult word-pairs in early time.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine related variables that improve learning outcomes in collaborative learning. Based on literature reviews, emotional intelligence was used as a variable of personal character, communication ability and collective intelligence were used as variables in learning process, and learning satisfaction, and persistence were used as variables of learning outcomes. Data were collected from 3,475 students at A university, and were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results of this study are as follows: First, it turned out that emotional intelligence had a significant and positive impact on communication ability, collective intelligence, learning satisfaction, and persistence. Second, communication ability influenced collective intelligence and persistence positively. Third, collective intelligence influenced learning satisfaction and persistence positively. Fourth, learning satisfaction had a significant and positive impact on persistence. These findings offer basic data for collaborative learning by revealing the structural relationships among related variables that improve learning outcomes in collaborative learning of college students.

  • This study examined the effects of students'perceptions of classroom on self-regulatory strategy use, persistent intention, and achievement in an online Science gifted program. The sample included 434 middle and high school students who participated in the 3-months online gifted program. Participants volunteerly surveyed on their perceptions of classroom (appeal, challenge, choice, meaningfulness, academic self-efficacy), self-regulatory strategy use, and persistent intention. Student achievement data was collected from online learning system. Multiple Regression was conducted to analyze the effect of students'perceptions of classroom on various dependent variables. The results of this study showed that (1) students use of rehearsal strategy was positively related to academic self-efficacy among the sub-variables of students'perceptions of classroom and the use of rehearsal strategy was negatively related to challenge; (2) the use of elaboration strategy was positively related to challenge and meaningfulness; (3) the use of time management strategy was positively related to academic self-efficacy and the use of resource management strategy was positively related to challenge; and (4) students' persistent intention was related to appeal, challenge and meaningfulness, achievement was related to challenge.

  • The purpose of the study is to identify the relationship among the variables related learner's satisfaction, flow experience and self-directedness and verify the path model of causal relationship among those variables in web based computer e-learning. Based on the theoretical rationale, we hypothesized the path model including learner's satisfaction as outcome variable, flow experience and self-directedness as causal and mediating variables. A total of 193 students were participated in this study and the main results showed as follows: 1. Learner's self-directedness showed significant (p<.01), indirect effect on learner's satisfaction mediated by flow experience and the flow experience showed significant (p<.01), direct effect on learner's satisfaction; 2. Among 7 constructs of self-directedness, 'creative approach', 'love of learning', 'self-confidence as a learner' showed significant (p<.01), indirect effects on learner's satisfaction mediated by 'clear goals' construct among flow experience.

  • This study is the subsequent study that has the objectives examining the relationships among 'substantive understanding', 'scientific literacy' and 'learning intention' in computer supported intentional learning environments and inquiry ability, variables for affecting knowledge construction derived from the finding out of the former study. As a result, the current study confirmed in CSILE the close correlation between 'the learning intention for scientific inquiry' and 'substantive understanding', between 'the learning intention for scientific inquiry' and 'scientific literacy'. Another result showed that 'scientific literacy' was the most significant predictor on inquiry ability. Base on the result of this study, the present researcher is about to make suggestions to stimulate learners' scientific literacy in CSILE-based inquiry learning.

  • This study investigates the reasons of dropout in a survey of 348 dropouts from a cyber university located in Seoul, Korea. Most common reasons are time constraints due to work or family-related needs. Difficulties in adjusting to online learning environment and uncertainties regarding the value of a cyber university degree also played important roles. Drop-out students who pointed to these two reasons also suffered from lack of communication and interaction with other students and professors. Efforts to address these issues are in order as well as the development of time-efficient learning strategies and financial aids.

  • This study examined the multi-phrased effects and outcomes of adult female learners who participated in lifelong learning activities, as well as the proposed structural relationships among the five latent variables. Questions established to achieve the purpose of the study are as follow: What effects do the learner's characteristics, lifelong education institutions, learning flow, and learning satisfaction have on the learning come? The participants of the survey numbered 632, but 54 respondents who were unreliable or did not complete their survey were excluded. A total of 578 cases were analyzed for this research. The structural relationships among the five latent variables-learner's characteristics, lifelong education institutions, learning flow and learning satisfaction, and learning outcome of the adult female learners-AMOS 18.0 program were also used for structural analysis. The major findings of this research are as follows. First, the model fitness showed that the hypothetical model provided a reasonable fit to the data ${\chi}^2=224.267$ (df=69, p<.001), RMSEA=.062, TLI=.943, RFI=.920, CFI=.957, IFI=.957, NFI=.939. Second, the learner's characteristics ( =.218, p<.001) and lifelong education institutions ( =.301, p<.001) have a direct effect on the learning outcomes. The learning flow ( =-.149 p=.541) does not have a direct effect on the learning outcome. Learning satisfaction ( =.405 p<.001) have a direct effect on the learning outcome. To put findings above together, in respect to adult female learners' performances, the learning outcomes are influenced directly by the learner characteristics, conditions of the lifelong education institutions, and learning satisfaction, whereas satisfaction indirectly affects the learners' learning outcome.
