However, when we take a look at domestic condition we come to know that Korean juvenile publishing has been occupied mostly by the studying book. Also, the cautious book selection by the well educated parents in l990's has brought up the change of juvenile publishing world. Such a presen t condition bears of juvenlie publi.,;hing world. Such a present condition bears problem, which is the checking 190 translat.ions among the published picture- books of the last ye ar children's book Nevertheless, there was a sucessful domestic planned creative picture book last year. That is "Puppy s shit", which was sold out 15 000 copies and be st se ller of children's book. Whe n we take a look at the commercial success of "Puppy s shit", it is possible that domestic work holds a position in the publishing market. "Puppy s shit" is the story about valuable nature with Korean styled illustration, which tells the prefemece of Korean book in do mestic pu blis hin f.i market. With the motto "Finding prospect of the Korean creative children's book", this paper was went throu gh. By searchinf.i for creative com ponent.s of picture-book planning such as theme, story, illustration, and edit design through the foreign picture-book "What 1 want. to know from the little mole is who made it on top of his head"-and domestic creative picture/book 'Puppy's shit", this study tried to tell a couple of things like followings publication of Korean creative picture book in t.he world. professional and more artistic inner fabric and originality(the relatio nship be tween stort and illu,tration), improvement of illustration through new formative language with well expressed con ten t, planning improvem ent of Korean creative pictive picture book including literary, artistic and educative component and finally examples of planning, artict and educative component and finally example, of planning the good book with a story and illu,;tration which can in the long run improve the value of life for the children.h can in the long run improve the value of life for the children.

Comparison of the nutrient components of figs based on their cultivars (품종별 무화과의 영양성분 비교)

  • In this study, the proximate compositions, minerals, free amino acids, total polyphenol and flavonoids of figs were analyzed according to their cultivars. The proximate compositions showed moisture at 85.37~87.28%, crude ash at 0.38~0.43%, crude lipid at 0.20~0.26%, crude protein at 0.39~0.81%, carbohydrate at 11.23~13.66% and crude fiber at 5.12~7.55% (dry base). The amount of the following minerals in the figs were highest, in this order: K > Ca > Mg > Na. The total polyphenol contents were highest in this order: Dauphine (198.91~261.64 mg/kg), Banane (211.07 mg/kg) and Horaish (169.90~174.33 mg/kg). The total flavonoid contents were highest in this order: Banane (84.52 mg/kg) > Dauphine (60.47~68.71 mg/kg) > Horaish (44.12~44.60 mg/kg). The quercetin contents were highest in this order: Dauphine, 2.40~3.54 mg/kg; Banane, 3.54 mg/kg; and Horaish, 2.40~2.75 mg/kg; but the flavonoid contents were lowest in this order: Dauphine, 1.11~1.16 mg/kg; Banane, 1.14 mg/kg; and Horaish, 1.09~1.11 mg/kg. The free amino acid content of the figs was 199.70~328.77 mg/100 g; their essential free amino acid contents, 46.45~67.46 mg/100 g; and their GABA (${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid) contents, 13.57~26.69 mg/100 g.

Understanding Biotechnology: An Analysis of High School Students' Concepts (생명공학의 기본 개념에 대한 고등학생의 이해도 조사 및 개념 분석)

  • Biotechnology is the process of using biological system for the production of materials. Genetic engineering, a subset of biotechnology, is the process of altering biological systems by the purposeful manipulation of DNA It is a new field in biology and no topic in biology is more likely to impact our personal lives and is therefore more worthy of our attention and understanding. The purpose of this study was to investigate students' understanding of the concepts of biotechnology, and a test tool which is made up of 20 basic questions was developed for the study. The subject of this study was high school students and the sample size was 486. In order to find out the source of students' misunderstanding, we also analysed high school textbooks and teachers were given the same tool applied to students. Two-way ANOVA was used for the analysis. Major findings of this study are as following; 1. Mean score of students was 41, and there was a significant difference between the scores of boys and girls(p<0.05). Female students scored higher than male students. The variables "region" and "major" had no significant influence. 2. Students' the most misunderstood concepts were "monoclonal antibody" and "gene cloning". Many students thought that a plamid DNA originally has a useful DNA in it, which is apparently wrong. 3. Mean score of teachers was 82, and the variabes of gender and career did not have statistically significant influence on the result(p>0.05). 4. Teachers got the lowest scores on the concepts of "gene therapy", "the accomplishment of biotechnology in agriculture and medicine", and "plasmid DNA". The results of item analysis implied that teachers' misunderstanding might be a part of the sources of students' misunderstaning. 5. Out of 18 basic concepts selected in the study, only 10 concepts were explained well enough in most textbooks. The results of item analysis indicated that textbooks also could be a part of the source of students' misunderstanding.

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the developmental Process of interaction and attitude of children through instruction for “making fabric doll”. Based on the theory of “Waldorf Education”, instruction of 8 hours for 3 weeks exercised against 40 children(18 boys, 22 girls) of 6th grade, especially focused two group(10 children), in K elementary school in Chunchoen. The results of the study by qualitative research method through observing, recording, interpretation are as follows 1. The changes in interaction among children were observed in increase of quantity and quality of conversation among children, of reliability and dependence among children, of intimacy and cooperation among children, and of intimacy between teacher and children. 2. The changes in the attitude toward instruction were observed in increase of confidence and satisfaction, of active and attentive attitude to instruction via more interest about own fabric doll, of positive attitude through attachment to the doll. Therefore, the instruction of “making fabric doll” based on “Waldorf Education” seems to be efficient to child development and Practical Arts Education.

Onion Beverages Improve Amyloid β Peptide-Induced Cognitive Defects via Up-Regulation of Cholinergic Activity and Neuroprotection (양파(Allium cepa L.) 음료의 콜린성 활성 증가 및 뇌신경세포 보호로 인한 Amyloid β Peptide 유도에 대한 인지장애 개선 효과)

  • To examine the cognitive function of onion (Allium cepa L.) beverages (odourless and fortified), we analyzed in vitro neuronal cell protection against $H_2O_2$-induced cytotoxicity and performed in vivo tests on amyloid beta ($A{\beta}$)-induced cognitive dysfunction. Cellular oxidative stress and cell viability were evaluated by DCF-DA assay and MTT assay. These results show that fortified beverage resulted in better neuronal cell protection than odourless beverage at lower concentration ($0{\sim}100{\mu}g/mL$). Fortified beverage also showed more excellent acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity ($IC_{50}$: 4.20 mg/mL) than odourless beverage. The cognitive functions of odourless beverage and fortified beverage in $A{\beta}$-induced neurotoxicity were assessed by Y-maze, passive avoidance, and Morris water maze tests. The results show improved cognitive function in both groups treated with beverages. After in vivo tests, cholinergic activities were determined based on AChE inhibition and acetylcholine levels, and antioxidant activities were measured as SOD, oxidized glutathione (GSH)/total GSH ratio, and MDA levels in mouse brain tissue. In a Q-TOF UPLC/MS system, main compounds were analyzed as follows: odourless beverage (five types of sugars and three types of phenolics) and fortified beverages (six types of phenolics and two types of steroidal saponins).

An Analysis of Middle school Technology Teachers' Stage of Concerns about Maker Education By Concerns-Based Adoption Model (관심기반수용모형(CBAM)에 의한 중학교 기술교사의 메이커 교육 관심도 분석)

  • In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, maker education is drawing attention as a method of student-led education. At a time when interest in maker education is also growing in technology education, figuring out what stage of concern(SoC) a middle school technology teacher is critical to effective implementation. This study analyzed SoC in maker education by layer sampling among 400 middle school technology teachers using Concerns-based adoption model. SoC was then obtained by measuring the origin using the SoCQ and then presenting it as a SOCQ profile. Gender, training experience with two lower variables were analyzed using t verification, working cities, teaching experience with more than three lower variables were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Studies showed that SoC in maker education of middle school technology teachers showed the most similar characteristics to that of non-users. The difference in concern depending on gender was that male teachers were more concerned in maker education than female teachers. The difference in concern depending on the working city was that teachers working in the township were more concerned in the maker education than teachers working in the large city, and the difference in concern depending on the teaching career was higher among teachers with middle experience than those with low and high experience. There was also a higher stage of concern in maker education than in teachers without training experience. Therefore, it is necessary to provide middle school technology teachers with an introduction to the maker education and various information, teaching, learning and evaluation data to enhance overall concern and to support the use and evaluation of the maker education in the classroom by providing various teacher training and consulting on the maker education in the future. Further, through further study, we should conduct study that analyzes both Stage of Concern, Level of Use and Innovation Configuration, to put in the effort for effective settlement of maker education.

A Study on How Reading Comic Books Affects Creativity (만화 읽기가 창의력 향상에 미치는 연구)

  • This study is intended to reveal reading comic books helps improve creativity. Though the long-lasting negative recognition towards comic books has positively changed these days, we need a ground upon which the social recognition needs improvement in that children's comic books have been used as a learning tool. Its introduction points out that there has been shortage of empirical researches on comic book reading, and as one of the empirical research methods, presents a method of comparative analysis on comic book reading, school study, and creativity tests via survey. The theoretical background in the 2nd chapter, first, puts emphasis on the significance of the creativity theory among all the other theories related to creativity, which focuses on problem-solving capacity. Second, it theoretically reviews the meaning which 'fun' and 'interest' have in development of creativity in the context of developmental process of the modern educational theories. Third, it empathizes that traits of reading comic books start off with 'fun' and 'interest', that awareness of reality gets expanded via the process of characters making their way through a strange world with empathy and absorption, and that comic book reading has to do with creativity. Fourth, it presents a model questionnaire with which to study relationship between comic books and creativity in an empirical way. The analysis on the survey outcome in the 3rd chapter shows, first, that smart students read many comic books, not to mention that studying helps improve creativity, which indicates above all, comic book reading and improvement of creativity are not negatively related, but are mutually complementary. Second, that creativity enhanced by reading comic books is higher than that enhanced by studying, which may mean comic book reading is more effective than studying in developing creativity. It has drawn a conclusion based upon these results, that reading comic books bears positive efficacy on both studying and developing creativity. Standing on this conclusion, it proposes it necessary to develop methods by grades of educating how to read comic books and to provide a recommended list of comic books to read.

Bioinformatic Analysis of the Canine Genes Related to Phenotypes for the Working Dogs (특수 목적견으로서의 품성 및 능력 관련 유전자들에 관한 생물정보학적 분석)

  • Working dogs, such as rescue dogs, military watch dogs, guide dogs, and search dogs, are selected by in-training examination of desired traits, including concentration, possessiveness, and boldness. In recent years, genetic information has been considered to be an important factor for the outstanding abilities of working dogs. To characterize the molecular features of the canine genes related to phenotypes for working dogs, we investigated the 24 previously reported genes (AR, BDNF, DAT, DBH, DGCR2, DRD4, MAOA, MAOB, SLC6A4, TH, TPH2, IFT88, KCNA3, TBR2, TRKB, ACE, GNB1, MSTN, PLCL1, SLC25A22, WFIKKN2, APOE, GRIN2B, and PIK3CG) that were categorized to personality, olfactory sense, and athletic/learning ability. We analyzed the chromosomal location, gene-gene interactions, Gene Ontology, and expression patterns of these genes using bioinformatic tools. In addition, variable numbers of tandem repeat (VNTR) or microsatellite (MS) polymorphism in the AR, MAOA, MAOB, TH, DAT, DBH, and DRD4 genes were reviewed. Taken together, we suggest that the genetic background of the canine genes associated with various working dog behaviors and skill performance attributes could be used for proper selection of superior working dogs.

Comparison of Mathematics and Science Teachers' Perception on the Korean Gifted education of Institutes for the Gifted education in the City Office of education and Science High School (시교육청 영재교육원과 과학고 영재교육원 수학, 과학 교사의 영재교육에 대한 인식 비교 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate Korean mathematics & science teachers' perception on the special education for the gifted, and to investigate if there are differences on their perception about it among the mathematics & science teachers when their affiliation institutes for the gifted are different. Their affiliation institutes for the gifted education are divided into two groups, which are the city office of education, and science high school. The research problems of this study are as follows. Firstly, are there any differences of their perception according to their affiliation institutes for the gifted education are divided into two groups, which are the city office of education, science high school? Secondly, are there any differences of their perception according to their affiliation institutes for the gifted education are divided into two groups, which are the mathematics teachers, science teachers? For the study, 26 mathematics teachers & 36 science teachers were sampled from the Institutes for the Gifted Education in Busan Metro-city & the Busan Science High School. and then 34-item-questionnaire developed by the author was administered to them. The research results are as follows. Firstly, the question as to participation in special education for the gifted in mathematics & science, the positive answer has been dominant. Teachers who were going to participate in special education for the gifted in mathematics & science have answered affirmatively. Secondly, perception of the organization of a class of the gifted in mathematics & science is very different between the group of institutes for the gifted education in the city office and the group of institutes for the gifted education in the science high school. Thirdly, perception of selection of gifted students for special education for the gifted in mathematics & science is very different between group of the mathematics teachers and group of the science teachers. Fourthly, 46.7% of the total agree with management of the gifted education in the science high school, 46.7% of the total agree with separation of management about mathematics & science.

Christian Education with the Socially Disadvantaged in and after the Covid-19 Pandemic (사회적 약자와 함께 하는 기독교교육)

  • This study was conducted to pursue Christian education with the socially underprivileged in the era of the Corona-19 pandemic. Corona-19 is a disaster which is caused, destroyed and exploited by human being. At the time of the indiscriminately spreading global pendemic, we must work together to overcome our selfish self-centeredness and make an attempt for everyone in need. It is a study on how humans can help each other survive in the era of Corona-19 and its post-corona. The problem is that there is too much discrimination between the state, race, and economic capacity, and in the end, the extreme discrimination of capitalism is appeared in society and across the country. There is no significant difference in the confirmation rate when Corona-19 infiltrates, but there is a big difference between those with and less in mortality. As a result, today's reality is that people who have a hard time living because they have less usually are far more vulnerable to blocking and defeating virus attacks. Unfortunately, this is the current situation. From the standpoint of a large discourse, attention is paid to climate change and ecological environment, and as a micro discourse, a number of societies who live with tremendous discrimination according to the gap between the rich and the poor (it is gender, race, disabled, nationality) that exist in almost all countries on the planet. We need attention to the weak. To this end, discourses on vaccine inequality, discourses on the needs of the disabled, discourses on different racial damages, discourses on polarization and dystopia, and discourses on educational inequality were treated as the reality faced by the socially underprivileged in the Corona 19 pandemic. To explore Christian education with the socially underprivileged, to explore ways of sharing, giving, and solidarity for win-win, discourse on inter-dependence and mutual responsibility of mankind, direct counter-measures for the socially underprivileged, and critical literacy education. He proposed a discourse on Korea, a discourse on Homo sapiens, which must return to being a part of creation, and finally a theology of friendship with the weak. Christian education based on Bible words must go forward in the era of the Corona 19 pandemic, hungry, naked, nowhere to go, sick, but dying because of being unable to get a remedy. He emphasized the need to establish a caring theology of friendship and pursue a life in which thought and practice harmonize. Thus, the paper proposed the spirit of Christian education not only doing something for the socially weak, but with the socially weak in the daily life.
