崔基哲박사의 약력 및 업적

  • 우리 나라 생물학계의 원로 중의 한분인 서울대학교 사범대학 교수 최기철 박사의 회갑을 충심으로 축하합니다. 최박사는 1910년 10월 16일 충청남도 대전시에서 탄생했으며, 1931년에 당시 서울에 있던 경성사범학교 연습과를 졸업하셨읍니다. 선생께서는 그 당시부터 생물학에 각별한 취미와 관심을 가지고, 정열을 기우렸으며, 그후 여러 곳에서 교원생활을 하시면서 학문연구에 몰두 했던 것입니다. 우리나라 생물학계의 선배 중에는 졍규적인 고등교육을 받지 못하고 독학으로 노력하여 학문적으로 대성한 분이 몇분 계신데, 우리 최기철 박사도 그 카테고리에 드는 분이라고 하겠읍니다. 선생께서는 늘 정열과 노력으로 일관했으며, 대학 출신 못지않게 학문적인 터전을 닦았던 것입니다. 선생의 공적은 점차로 학계와 당국의 인정을 받게 되어, 1935년에는 일본 문부성 시행인 중학교 교원 검정시험에 합격하셨으며, 1956년에는 우리나라 문교부로부터 대학교수 자격을 획득하였고, 또 1966년에는 서울대학교에서 이학박사의 학위를 받으셨읍니다. 그 동안 여러 차례에 걸쳐 관계국제학술회의에 참석하심은 물론, 1957년에는 미국에 건너가 Peabody 대학과 Vanderbilt 대학에서 자신의 주전공인 동물생태학을 연구하셨으며, 이듬해인 1958년에는 Woods Hole에 있는 세계에서도 가장 유명한 해양생물학 연구소를 두루 시찰하셨읍니다. 또 선생께서는 흥지사 발생인 동물생태학을 비롯하여 16편의 저서 및 학술조사보고서를 세상에 내놓았으며, 한편 한국동물학회지에 발표한 [바지락의 치패에 천공하는 복족류에 관한 연구]를 비롯한 9편의 학술논문을 학계에 발표한바 있읍니다. 끝으로 선생의 가족관계를 살펴 본다면 80이 되신 자당이 아직도 생존해 계시며, 부인과 슬하에 장남 최남석군을 필두로 9남매의 자녀를 거느리고 계신 누구보다도 다복한 분이기도 합니다. 특히 자녀 중에 장남인 남석군은 일찌기 서울대학교 공과대학을 거쳐 미국유학을 하여 공학박사의 학위를 얻고 현재 미국 브르크린 대학교 공과대학 조교수로 있으며, 다음 차남인 신석군은 서울대학교 사범대학 생물학과를 나와 대학원에서 아버지와 같은 전공인 동물태생학을 연구 했고, 현재 충남대학교 전임강사로 있읍니다. 여기 최기철 박사의 회갑을 당하여 선생의 약력과 업적을 소개하여 그간 우리 나라 교육계 및 생물학계에 끼친 공로를 찬양하며, 선생의 앞날에 더욱 다복하실 것을 바라는 바입니다.

Teacher Education using Online Learning Community: Success factors driven from the analysis of representative cases in the U.S.A. (온라인학습커뮤니티를 활용한 교사교육: 미국의 사례 분석에 기초한 성공 요인)

  • As the use of Internet becomes popular along with the rapid progress of digitalization, educators increasingly pay attention to online education as a method to complement the current educational system. Especially the Online Learning Community(OLC) has been successfully utilized for teacher education in many advanced countries including the U.S.A.. Considering such trend, this research analyzed representative cases which used the OLC for teacher education in the U.S.A. and explored major factors for successful construction and management of the OLC. Among various cases, five OLCs operated by universities and research institutes were selected, and special aspects of these OLCs were compared and analyzed. On the basis of the five case studies, this research suggested ten factors to be implemented for the successful construction and management of the OLC for teacher education.

  • Within a context of rapid technological change and shifting market conditions, the education environment requires new paradigm of education delivery In accordance of such a technological progress, distance education system, which makes the loaming take place at anytime anywhere, overcoming barriers of time, or distance, is emerging as a mainstream of education delivery replacing the convectional one way delivery system from instructor to learners. This Paper aims to introduce the development principle and algorithm about Instructional System Design(ISD) module, a part of a total solution for distance education services. It was developed on Linux, a free Unix-type operating system. Linux supports so various network protocols, sharing the network resources in a smooth way, that it is able to integrate with other operating system very easily, especially with Windows NT or Windows 2000 servers. In terms of quality, it never falls behind the windows products which are commercially available only, It is a right operating system for the such a school environment that is usually limited in budgets. The development environment of the distance education solution to which ISD module belongs is composing of Apache server for web server, Java bean based on components for ISD module, PHP, server-side scripting language, for HTML documents and MySQL for DBMS.

  • In order to utilize Sphinx Puzzle in shape education or deductive reasoning, a lesson employing Dienes' six-stage theory of learning mathematics was structured to be applied to students of 6th grade of elementary school. 4 students of 6th grade of elementary school, the researcher's current workplace, were selected as subjects. The academic achievement level of 4 subjects range across top to medium, who are generally enthusiastic and hardworking in learning activities. During the 3 lessons, the researcher played role as the guide and observer, recorded observation, collected activity sheet written by subjects, presentation materials, essays on the experience, interview data, and analyzed them to the detail. A task of finding every possible triangle out of pieces of Sphinx Puzzle was given, and until 6 steps of formalization was set, students' attitude to find a better way of mathematical deduction, especially that of operational thinking and deductive thinking, was carefully observed and analyzed.

Developing Mathematical Learning Project Using Pyramid (피라미드를 소재로 한 수학 학습 프로젝트 개발)

  • Mathematical learning via projects, which enables the reconstruction of curriculum through integration and emphasizes the process of solving problems by posing questions, has attracted the attention of the department of mathematics. This research is aimed at exploring the link between mathematics and project learning by analyzing an example of student-oriented project 'the secrets of pyramid' focused on understanding 'triangle' specifically designed for forth graders. From 115-hour process of subject-oriented project, this study reinterpreted the mathematical meaning of only 24 hours directly related to mathematics, especially to figure exploration. Consequently, this problem solving involved a variety of geometric activities as a process, such as measuring an angle, constructing a triangle, etc. Thus students attempt to actively participate in the process, thereby allowing them to learn how to measure things more accurately. Moreover, project learning improved students' understanding on not only plane figures but solid figures. This indicates that by project learning, learning from given problems or contents can be extended to other mathematical areas.

Metaphors on Mathematics Teaching (수학 수업을 보는 관점으로서의 은유)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate mathematics teaching of an elementary school teacher and to understand the meaning of it. This study was a qualitative case study using by analyzing metaphors. The notion of metaphors was newly set up. Traditionally, it had been regarded as a mere tool for better understanding, but it was recognized as the primary source of all of our concept(Sfard, 1998). The subject of this case study was a researcher 'I' and also an elementary school teacher. The three selves named Mee1, Mee2, Mee3, respectively. Mee1 was the 'I' who developed the 4th graders' activities on mathematical patterns in 1996 and wrote mathematics textbook for the 4th graders in 1998-1999. Mee2 was the 'I' who taught mathematical patterns to her students in 2002. Mee3 was the 'I' who criticized the teaching of Mee2 in 2005. [ADVENTURE], [HIDE-AND-SEEK], and [FIREWORKS DISPLAY] were deter-mined to be key metaphors of mathematics teaching. [ADVENTURE] of Mee] was focused on profound understanding of mathematics, [HIDE-AND-SEEK] of Mee2 on construction of mathematics, and [FIRE-WORKS DISPLAY] of Mee3 on making meaning and participating in communities. Studies of metaphors give us the power of understanding mathematics teaching and also generate it. And viewing mathematics teaching via metaphors makes teaching studies open to new ways.

적외선 광대역 고분산분광기 IGRINS 개발 현황

  • 한국천문연구원은 미국 텍사스대학교와 공동으로 근적외선 광대역 고분산 분광기 IGRINS (Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph)를 개발하고 있다. IGRINS는 R=40,000의 높은 분광분해능으로 H-밴드 ($1.49\sim1.80{\mu}m$)와 K-밴드 ($1.96\sim2.46{\mu}m$) 전체 분광스펙트럼을 한 번에 관측할 수 있다. IGRINS를 구성하는 핵심 부품은 실리콘 담금격자 (Silicon Immersion Grating)와 VPH (Volume Phased Holographic) 격자, 그리고 HAWAII2RG 적외선 센서이다. 실리콘 담금격자를 사용함으로써 적외선 분광기의 크기를 일반적인 격자를 사용한 것보다 2-3배정도 줄일 수 있게 되었다. IGRINS는 개발 후 미국 맥도날드 천문대에 3년간 장착하여 관측연구에 활용될 예정이다. 이후 IGRINS는 4미터급 이상의 망원경에 장착될 예정이다. 한국천문연구원은 IGRINS 국제공동 개발을 위하여 2009년 8월 텍사스 대학과 양해각서(MOU)를 교환하였으며 현재 개념 설계를 끝내고 기본 설계를 진행하고 있다. 기본설계검토 회의 (Preliminary Design Review)은 12월에 실시할 예정이다. 또한 과학연구 활용 극대화를 위하여 사용자 그룹을 조직하였으며, 여름학교를 열어 적외선 분광 연구에 대한 교육을 실시하였다. 이 발표에서는 IGRINS의 개발 현황을 보고하고, IGRINS의 설계와 활용 분야에 대하여 소개한다.

  • In this academic paper, we introduce a bread board simulation which is developed based on HTML language. this program is developed because actual electronic practices have some problems. Electronic circuit practice using bread board is widely practiced in colleges or high schools in South Korea, but actual electronic circuit practice needs lots of consumable stuff, and they are needed to be purchased and managed continuously. Besides, composing complicated electronic circuit restricts the efficiency of studying. Therefore, we propose breadboard simulation program which helps to resolve those problems.

An Analysis of Cultural Contents in High School English Textbooks (고등학교 영어교과서의 영미문화 내용분석: 2011년 개정 영어과 교육과정 중심으로)

  • In a EFL situation, most Korean students and teachers are exclusively dependent on English textbooks to acquire the cultural factors of English. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze cultural elements in the English Textbooks. The results of the study are as follows: First, although all of the textbooks contain the culture part at the end of each lesson, it is insufficient for students to build a cultural schema. Second, in the analysis of cultural types, three types of cultures are presented in a similar percentage. Third, the culture elements were analyzed based on the 7th national curriculum revised in 2011. The most dominant is the culture regarding arts and literature. Forth, in nationality analysis, universal culture takes up the largest portion. Therefore, it is required more efforts to improve students' knowledge of the American and English culture.

A study on the Image for Dental Hygienists and Influence Factor in Academic High School Students (일부지역 인문계 고등학생의 치과위생사 이미지 및 영향요인 분석)

  • The aim of this study was to examine the image for dental hygienists and influence factor in academic high school students. A self-reported questionnaire was surveyed by 211 high school student in G area. the data were analyzed for frequency analysis, average, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson's correlation coefficient by using SPSS 21.0 program. In case of general high-school students, occupational and business images were higher significantly. The social images were higher significantly in case of having introduction or explanation for dental hygienists. In addition, the self-esteem showed significant differences depending on the oral condition. There were positive correlations among the occupational, business, personal, social images of dental hygienists and self-esteem. Multiple regression analysis showed that highest in occupational images.
