The purpose of this study is to analyze the difference of economic condition of students, that is, the difference of basic information utilization ability stemming from education gap. First, we investigated information literacy for high school freshmen who can control the difference of information utilization education experience by school. In doing the research, 629 high school students in the metropolitan city were surveyed using web. we analyzed the educational gap between schools depending on their economic conditions and analyzed the correlation between education gap and basic information utilization ability. As a result, it was found that there is a very significant negative correlation between the ratio of students who get support for school expenses and basic information utilization ability. Second, regression equation was produced through regression analysis of information literacy regression to analyze the effect of educational gap on basic information literacy. In addition, it seeks to consider alternatives that can improve the inequality of information literacy which is derived from education gap.

This study explores the effectiveness and applications of event collection programs, which are integrated programs with event experience and collection experience as a cooperation model that combines school education and library resources as course-related materials. For the purpose, a triangulated analysis with both quantitative and qualitative data was conducted. As a result, This study examined an event collection program's effectiveness which were positive effects on the participated students' reading and perceptions on the roles of their school libraries. The event collection supported the students to self-construct their knowledge by exploring information with the provision of a collection with various materials on a topic, which would be hardly provided within the traditional library subject classification, and that the event collection program could be a useful tool for self-directed reading due to its promotion of interaction, sharing, and participation among materials and the participated students by functional factors of experiential marketing.

Melvil Dewey has been evaluated as a person of library movement, a man of thought, and a pioneer. However, the life-long achievements as a teacher has not been considered in the domain of library science. The foundations of Dewey's thought of public library can be divided into two categories: school education and home education. Based on these two types of education, Dewey established the major role of public libraries in supporting the life-long education of the public. Regardless of the great achievement of Dewey in education, few research has been conducted. The purpose of this research is to consider the role of libraries from the perspective of life-long education based on the thought of Dewey.

The purpose of this study is to examine the images of libraries and librarians in Korean children's literature. For this purpose, fourteen children's fictions that the main background is library are analyzed. Library's role appeared in the children's fictions is focused on reading books. In the children's fictions, librarians are usually women and described as friendly and active people. And their role is shown as strongly committed to children's reading activities. Library services and activities for information literacy education and cultural development of children is hardly reflected in the fictions. It implicates that the libraries and librarians in children's literature is very reflective of those in the real world.

The aim of this study is to investigate the library related campaign promises of the candidates for the heads of metropolitan governments and the superintendents of education between 1st and 6th nationwide local election in Korea. To do this, the library related campaign promises of 346 candidates were analyzed by analysing the official gazettes for elections digitally archived in National Election Commission of Korea. As a result, the campaign promises of the candidates were insufficient both in quality and quantity. The candidates for the heads of metropolitan governments showed low ratio of the library related campaign promises, excessive concentration on construction or installation of libraries and higher preference for small libraries than public libraries. The candidates for the superintendents of education showed relatively balanced distribution of the election promises on library fields. But the campaign promises related public libraries were insufficient and the campaign promises of school libraries did not reflect the major elements of school libraries and the context of school libraries in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to identify how teacher librarians perceive the importance of each job and the expected job of other teachers and students, and to obtain basic information on their job recognition and to derive their jobs to be improved. To this end, after modifying the 25 jobs selected by Lim Jeong-hoon et al.(2021), 210 librarian teachers were measured for their own importance by job, the expected importance of other teachers and students, and the level of evaluation of their own performance ability. As a result of the analysis, teacher librarians recognized 'reading education and literacy education' as the most important, but recognized 'library event' as the most important task expected of other teachers and students, and recognized that 'library usage guidance' was the most outstanding. In addition, there were nine jobs that needed to be improved.

This study outlined the services of the P Public Library and some other libraries in California, USA for benchmarking to develop the public library services in Korea. The school library media specialists offer the users assistance in using information resources and instructional media by assessing, evaluating and selecting the most appropriate materials for the present educational situation in school. The format of the information media and the scope of the media center collection have constantly been changed by information technology. Media specialist has to know the selection criteria to be capable of providing any media format in the technological society, particularly of providing instruction software(courseware), multimedia, hypermedia and digital reference service to maintain the school library media center as one of the user oriented educational information centers. This paper presents the selection criteria for the instruction media by media format as one of the useful guidelines to the media specialist.

The purpose of this study is to develop the public library programs that support the needs of multicultural families by examining the details of their information needs, focusing on the children's education issues of multicultural families. For this purpose, the data on experiences and needs related to the education of multicultural families' children were collected through in-depth interviews with married immigrant women. The study found the following six types of children's education-related needs of multicultural families: 1) Lack of understanding about the educational system and situation of Korean schools, 2) Their children's needs for language and learning 3) Their children's Bilingual education 4) Educational information for the role of parents, 5) Prejudice and discrimination against their children at school 6) Supporting library awareness and experience of mulitcultural families. Based on these needs, the following programs were suggested: 1) Parent role program for children's education, 2) Children's learning program, 3) Children's language education program, 4) Multicultural understanding education, 5) Library user education and guidance.
