The panels are used as a composite part of the completed deck. They replace the main bottom transverse deck reinforcement and also serve as a form surface for the cast-in-place concrete upper layer that contains the top of deck reinforcement. In this paper, three types of the detail for joints was selected and their structural performance in terms of strength and crack contral was investigated through static tests on composite beams. Form the results, the validity of loop joints for continuity of half-depth precast deck was observed and especially an overlapping length of loop joint and transverse reinforcement were checked. The results suggest that increasing the loop overlapping length increases the flexural strength of half-depth precast deck with loop joints. In terms of crack contral, the loop joint with transverse reinforcement showed better performance.

As the half-depth precast concrete decks are increasingly applied to the construction sites, researches on connection details have been increased. For design of concrete bridge deck with half-depth precast panels, it is required to provide appropriate details of transverse loop joints between panels. In this paper, the structural performance of precast decks was evaluated to investigate continuity of the proposed loop joint details. From the results, the validity of the joints for the continuity of deck was observed in the aspect of flexural strength and crack control. The ultimate strength increased 1.52 times as the reinforcement spacing in the joint was reduced. In terms of crack control, direct crack width calculation for the loop joint showed appropriate results comparing with measured crack width.

Through this research safety factors were analyzed for concrete precast panels in road pavement which happens in lifting, moving, and installing. Two half size of full-scale precast concrete panels were made while one full-scale precast concrete panel was made. A series of strain gages for concrete and steel were installed and measured in lifting and transporting. Measurement results indicate that in case of 60 degree of lifting, small scale panel in dynamic motion produces about 3.54 times of strain compared to the static condition. However strain measurement of full-scale concrete panel in lifting and transportation does not yield any big difference compared to the small scale panels in the static condition. From this experimental results safety of the full-scale concrete panel was attained for the lifting system adopted in this research.
Micro-cracks with a width less than 0.1 mm in precast concrete panels do not cause structural problem, but they can cause problems in long term durability and concrete surfaces aesthetic, requiring additional repair costs. In this paper, polymer cement concrete is used to increase flexural tensile strength and to prevent micro-cracks due to construction loads on LB-DECK panels. Using 5% polymer-cement ratio, the panel crack moment is increased by improving flexural tensile strength and controlling visible micro-cracks during construction stage of LB-DECK.

The fire performance of RC slabs with half-depth precast panel after exposure to the ISO-834 fire standard without loading has been experimentally investigated. During heating, according to the ISO 834 fire curve, concrete spalling was observed for concrete without PP(polypropylene) fibers. No spalling occurred when heating concrete containing PP fibers. The maximum temperature of RC slabs with PP fibers with half-depth precast panel was lower than that of concrete without PP fibers. The ultimate load after cooling of the RC slabs that were not loaded during the furnace tests was evaluated by means of 3 points bending tests. The ultimate load of the RC slabs without PP fibers showed a considerable reduction (around 32.5%) of the ultimate load after cooling if compared with of RC slabs with PP fibers. The ultimate load of the RC slabs with half-depth precast panel with PP fibers is higher than that of a full-depth RC slabs with PP fibers. Also, the addition of PP fibers and the use of half-depth precast panel improve fire resistance.

This paper presents the results of an experimental study carried out Prestressed Concrete Slab System of WAffle Shape(WAS), was perfomed in order to inverstigate it connection shear behavior according to primary paramaters: connection interval, filling matarial. Specimen is produced in Precast Concrete factories and it comprised one WAS panel and two half WAS panels and then it is filled with packing. Within the ranges of the parameters of the connection details used in this test, connections can develop greater shear strength than the nominal shear strength and the design service load for parking structures.

The objective of this study is to verify whether the composite action is sufficiently strong to withstand at the interface and the structural behavior of LB-DECK panel with field concrete slab strengthened with main reinforcing bars. Static and fatigue tests are performed for LB-DECK panels with varied shapes and amounts of rebars, and the results are compared with those of field concrete panel(FCP). The test results indicate that the LB-DECK panel with 1.5 times of more rebars inside significantly increase the overall stiffness. LB-DECK penel usually shows on average 52.1 percent of improved stiffness compared with the FCP. The fatigue test results also show that the LB-DECK panel can withstand two-million cycles of repeated loads without any damage.

This study aims at developing a new seismic resistant method by using precast concrete wall panels for existing low-rise, reinforced concrete beam-column buildings such as school buildings. Three quasi-static hysteresis loading tests were performed on one unreinforced beam-column specimen and two reinforced specimens with U-type precast wall panels. Seismic resistant test of anchored and welded steel plate connections manifested an average of 2.8 times increase in the maximum loading (average 591.8 kN) in comparison to unreinforced beam-column specimen. The maximum drift ratios were also shown between 1.4% and 2.7%. An analytical study was performed while assuming the RC column on the right side and the vertical element of the reinforced PC panel to behave in completely composite manner and the RC column on the left side and PC panel to behave in completely non-composite manner when loading was exerted from upper right end of RC frame of specimen to its left side. It was found with the assumptions that the overall flexural behavior in principle agreed with the experimental result.

As the height of the modular buildings increases, their stability becomes more and more dependent on the core. All traditional construction methods in structural concrete and steel can be utilized for cores in modular buildings but a core system with dry connection is more desirable to complete a greater degree of factory finish and faster erection of modular buildings. In order to do that, the hybrid PC(precast concrete) panel, which has a pair of C-shaped steel beams combined at the top and bottom of a concrete wall, was developed, In this study the cyclic lateral loading test on the hybrid PC panel is carried out and the panel configurations are examined to enhance the structural performance in comparison with the RC wall. Experimental results show that the strength of hybrid PC panel is about 70% of thar ot RC wall and the anchorage of vertical reinforcing bar welded to C-shaped steel beam needs to be improved.

A concrete core is used widely as lateral stability systems in high-rise modular buildings. As an alternative to traditional cast in-situ core, the precast concrete(PC) method can accelerate the construction of reinforced concrete cores. A core composed of precast elements differs from a in-situ core in having connections between the precast elements. The typical vertical connection between PC panels is consisted of shear keys, loop bars, lacer bars and grout. In this study, the effect of vertical connection components on shear strength is investigated experimentally. The test results show that the contribution to the shear strength is greater in order of grout strength, shear keys, lacer bars and loop bars. In addition, the numerical models to estimate the shear strength according to two crack patterns in the vertical joint of the PC panels are derived. The feasibility of the numerical models is evaluated by comparing the estimated shear strength and the test results.
