Longitudinal Behavior of Prestressed Steel-Box-Girder Bridge (프리스트레스를 도입한 강합성형 교량의 교축방향 거동)

  • To effectively use the cross section of concrete decks, analytical and experimental studies on prestressed steel-box-girder bridges were performed in this study. The method of applying prestress was determined in the analytical study and the longitudinal behavior of the prestressed steel-box-girder bridge was considered in the experimental study. The object model for these studies was a two-span continuous bridge. The method of applying prestress determined herein was divided into two parts: one is that apply prestress to the concrete deck at its intermediate support, and the other is that apply prestress to the lower flange of the steel-box-girder bridge at its end support. The prototype bridge for the experiment was simulated based on the rule of similitude and was fabricated according to construction steps to apply prestress effectively. From the results of the experimental study, it has demonstrated that the prestressed steel-box-girder bridge provides better performance than the general steel-box-girder bridge in view of the increase of the design live load, the reduction of the tensile stress of the concrete deck at intermediate support, and the reduction of the displacement.

A Study on Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Pier Caps Using Prestressed Near Surface Mounted CFRP (프리스트레스가 도입된 표면매립 CFRP를 이용한 교각 두부 보강에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, concrete structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) reinforcements have been commonly used for the bridge and building construction. In this paper, pier caps were strengthened by prestressed near surface mounted CFRP. To verify the effectiveness of the strengthening method, 7 pier cap specimens were fabricated. One specimen was designed for control, two for external prestressing steel strands, two for CFRP plates, and two for CFRP bars. Experimental variables consist of type of reinforcement materials and prestressing levels. The results of laboratory have shown that the ultimate load capacities of prestressed near surface mounted CFRP specimens were about $20{\sim}33%$ greater than that of a control specimen. Also, ultimate load capacities of prestressed near surface mounted CFRP specimens were similar to those of external prestressing specimens with steel strands.

  • 중트럭 통행으로 인한 철근콘크리트 교량바닥판의 열화는 교량구조물을 유지보수하는데 있어 심각한 문제 중 하나이며, 프리캐스트 바닥판을 이용한 교량바닥판의 시공 및 교체 방법이 실용적이며 효과적인 방법으로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 횡방향 ddusruf부에 종방향 프리스트레싱을 도입한 프리캐스트 바닥판의 모델을 제작하여 바닥판간 횡방향 연결부의 강성 평가 및 연결부의 피로 거동을 파악하기 위해서 피로실험을 수행하여 피로하중하에서의 휨강성의 변화, 균열발생 및 파괴하중 등을 측정하였다. 실험결과를 통해서 피로하중하에서 프리스트레스 프리캐스트 부재의 프리스트레스 효과를 평가하였으며, 현장타설에 의해서 시공되는 일반 RC 부재에 비해서 우수한 구조적 거동을 보여주는 적정량의 종방향 프리스트레스 크기를 결정하였다.

  • In this study, the experimental bending behaviors of an H-secti on-steel-beam-attached high-strength steel plate or steel beam were analyzed. Its structural performance was verified by comparing the results of the experiment and the analysis that were conducted. In fabricating an unprestressed composite beam using two members that have different strengths, the generated slip on the joint in proport problem because of the redistribution of force caused by the lose state of the joint.   • Experimental study has been performed in order to investigate the behavior of RC beams strengthened with externally bonded post-tensioned CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) strips. Specimens consist of 9 small-scaled specimens with the different post-tensioning level as a main test parameter. A control specimen and specimens with simply bonded CFRP strips have been manufactured to compare the structural performances of prestressed system. From the test results, it was observed that the specimens strengthened with simply bonded CFRP strips showed debonding failure below 50% of CFRP tensile strength due to premature debonding. On the other hand, all the specimens strengthened with post- tensioned CFRP strips reached the rupture strength of the CFRP strip. The cracking and yielding loads were also increased proportionally to the post-tensioning level, but the ultimate loads were nearly equal regardless of the post-tensioning level.

  • Recent application researches on external pre-stressing method of composite structures have been conducted to explore its advantages. An external pre-stress could improve mechanical behavior and maintenance, and is economically efficient. In this paper, the Incremental Deformation Method (IDM) was proposed to analyze the elasto-plastic flexural behavior of externally pre-stressed composite bridge with consideration for the material's nonlinearity. This method was verified with experimental results.

  • 중트럭통행으로 인한 철근콘크리트 교량바닥판의 열화는 교량구조물을 유지보수하는데 있어서 심각한 문제중 하나이며, 프리캐스트 바닥판을 이용한 교량바닥판의 시공 및 교체 방법이 실용적이며, 효과적인 방법으로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 프리캐스트 바닥판 사이 연결부에 대한 정적실험을 수행하여 실험부재의 탄성영역 및 극한 상태하에서 프리캐스트 바닥판 사이 교축직각 방향 연결부의 강성 및 강도를 평가하였다. 정적실험결과, 무수측 모르나트를 채움재로 사용한 프리캐스트 바닥판 사이 교축방향 연결부는 교축방향으로 적정량의 프리스트레스를 도입함으로서 일반 현장타설 철근콘크리트 바닥판에 비해서 균열에 대한 사용성이 향상되는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpese of this research is to experimentally verify the effect of prestressing on the control of cracks and on the possible increase of load capacity of the members by testing five beams with same cross section and same reinforcement ratio but with different amounts of prestressing. The test results indicate that the ultimate strength of prestressed concrete beams is only slightly higher than that of unprestressed concrete beams. It may be however need more experimental results to come to this conclusion. But it can be clearly seen that the effect of prestressing on the crack width is remarkable and that the reduction of about to 50% in crack width under service loads can be easily achieved by introducing small prestressing (about 25% of a fully prestressing).

Long-term Flexural Behavior of RC Beams Strengthened in Flexure with NSM Fe-SMA Strips (표면매립된 철계-형상기억합금 스트립으로 휨 보강된 RC보의 장기 휨거동)

  • The long-term flexural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with an iron based-shape memory alloys (Fe-SMAs) by a near-surface mounted (NSM) method was evaluated. The pre-strained values of 2% and 4% and introduced prestressing force by an activation of a shape memory effect of the Fe-SMA strengthening material were considered as experimental variables. Deflections at the center of the RC beams were measured for six months after the 1 tonf concrete weight was loaded on the beam. Experimental results show that the deflections decreased because of the increased flexural stiffness of beams strengthened with the Fe-SMA strips. On the contrary, with increased pre-strained values, the deflection increased due to stiffness reduction of the strengthening material. It was confirmed that the specimens incorporating the prestressed force showed the deflection reduction of about 30%, compared to the ones without the prestressed force.

  • Innovative prestressed steel plate girders were presented in this study. Hot-rolled H beams were loaded first, then relatively high-strengthsteel plates were welded on the top and bottom flanges of preloaded H beams. Finally, high prestressed plate (HiPP) girder was manufactured by simply releasing prestresses of rolled beams. To verify prestress distributions induced in this girder, the experimental study was conducted and some guidelines to manufacture these girders effectively were addressed. In addition, methods to determine the allowable bending stress of HiPP girders and to check welding stresses were addressed for design of temporary bridges. The efficiency and effectiveness of the present girder were demonstrated through design examples of temporary bridges adapting the prestress-induced girder or the plate girder of the same section without prestresses. As a result, it has been found to be possible that the span length of HiPP girders for temporary bridges is longer than that of girders without prestresses.
