Tension tests of six half-thickness concrete containment wall elements were conducted as a part of Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) program. The aim of the KAERI test program is to provide a test-verified analytical method for estimating capacities of concrete reactor containment buildings under internal overpressurization from postulated degraded core accidents. The data from the tests reported herein should be useful for benchmarking analytical method that require modeling of material behavior including concrete cracking behavior and reinforcement/concrete interaction exhibited by the test. Major test variable is compressive strength of concrete, and its effect on the behavior of prestressed concrete panel subjected to biaxial tension is investigated.

In this study, a monotonic loading test to estimate structural capacity of 12 meter long full scale precast pre-stressed concrete beam specimen was performed with a 2,000 kN dynamic actuator. A couple of embedded steel plate was installed at the ends of the beam and specimens were connected to steel girder frame with high tension bolts. Nominal compressive strength of pre-stressed concrete beam and slab were 50 MPa and 24 MPa respectively. Two HD25 tensile steel reinforcements were welded on vertical plate of embedded steel plate. Pre-stressed concrete beam specimen was loaded by displacement control method with a certain loading pattern which was repeated loading and unloading with 10mm increment displacement. About 88.34%, 86.97% and 66.83% of displacement restoration ratios were evaluated at elastic, inelastic and plastic behavior region of specimen respectively.

Hybrid Prestressed Precast Concrete System (HPPC system) is a newly developed frame system that can improve the performance of precast concrete (PC) joints by post-tensioning. In particular, the details proposed in this study can reduce the lifting weight of the PC members and eliminate problems caused by cracks in the joints that occur under service loads. This study performed an evaluation on the negative moment performance of full-scaled HPPC girders. The test specimens were cast with or without slabs, with bonded or unbonded tendons, and had different post-tensioned lengths in tensile section. The test results showed that the specimens with slabs had significantly higher stiffness and strength than those without slabs. There were no differences in the flexural behavior between those with bonded or unbonded tendons, and between those with short or long post-tensioned lengths in the negative moment region.

Post-tensioned prestressed concrete members experience immediate prestress losses as well as time-dependent prestress losses such as creep, dry shrinkage and relaxation. In addition, the stress of the upper and lower parts of the member changes due to the change in dead load due to the replacement of the upper slab and/or pavement. Such changes in fiber stress may affect the safety of the member, and it is necessary to adjust the prestressing force. Therefore, in this study, a screw type of re-tensioning post-tension kit is proposed, and it is verified that the safety against load and the stability against strain are satisfied through the load transfer test specified in EAD160004 and KCI-PS101.

Recently prestressed concrete bridges are generally used instead of reinforced concrete. PSC is more durable than RC because it can reduce crack problems, reinforcement corrosion, leakage and carbonation etc. And also PSC is more effective because there is no crack in tension area, and the entire concrete section is considered in section analysis. And it can reduce section size because vertical component by prestressing force can reduce the shear force. However, using high strength concrete can increase the self weight of bridge because of it's higher density. So the hollowed PPC girder with light weight aggregate can be a alternative. In this study the hollowed PPC girder with light weight aggregate is designed and the performance of hollowed PPC girder is evaluated by experimental tests as well as numerical analysis. As a result, The hollowed PPC girder of light aggregate behaved fully elastically under service load of 110kN, and the plastic behavior was showed after elastic behavior through experimental test, and it can be also estimated by numerical analysis.
An analytical model for predicting the shear strength of prestressed concrete beams without shear reinforcement was developed, on the basis of the existing strain-based shear strength model. It was assumed that the compression zone of intact concrete in the cross-section primarily resisted the shear forces rather than the tension zone. The shear capacity of concrete was defined based on the material failure criteria of concrete. The shear capacity of the compression zone was evaluated along the inclined failure surface, considering the interaction with the compressive normal stress. Since the distribution of the normal stress varies with the flexural deformation of the beam, the shear capacity was defined as a function of the flexural deformation. The shear strength of a beam was determined at the intersection of the shear capacity curve and the shear demand curve. The result of the comparisons to existing test results showed that the proposed model accurately predicted the shear strength of the test specimens.

An analytical model for predicting the shear strength of prestressed concrete beams was developed, applying the previously proposed strain-based shear strength model. In flexure-compression member without shear reinforcement, compression zone of intact concrete primarily resist to the shear force rather than tension zone. The shear capacity of concrete at the compression zone was defined based on the material failure criteria. The shear capacity of the compression zone was evaluated along the inclined failure surface considering interaction with the normal stress. Since the distribution of normal stress varies due to the flexural deformation of member, the shear capacity was defined as a function of the flexural deformation. Finally, the shear strength was determined at the intersection of the shear capacity curve and the shear demand curve. As a result of the comparisons to prior test data, the proposed model accurately predicted the shear strength of specimens.

Until now, we assumed in the time-dependent analysis of concrete structure that tensile creep has same characteristics as compressive creep has. But, in according to results of researches, it appears that tensile creep is different from compressive creep in quantity and in mechanics because tensile creep is affected significantly by micro cracking. The test results indicate that the creep behavior of concrete in compression and tension is rather different. The test data shows that the amount of creep under tensile loading is larger than that under compressive loading. In this paper, a realistic tensile creep model is suggested and incorporated in the formulation. In order to get more accurate results of time-dependent analysis. The present study indicates that the long-term deflection of concrete structures under realistic tensile creep model is somewhat larger than that under ordinary compressive creep model.

This paper contains experimental studies on the flexural cracking behabior of PPC one-way slabs. Three post tensioned bonded PPC slabs with the same prestressing ratio and ultimate moment strength were tested. Based upon test results, this paper also presents the crack width prediction formula PPC slab. According to the crack theory developed mainly in Europe, crack width formula is given as the product of crack spacing and mean steel strain after decompression. Aaaaverage crack spacing formula is composed of many factors mainly such as concrete cover, concrete effective area in tension, sum of reinforcing bars perimeters and mixed reinforcements. In particular, it is very important to specify the bond characteristics of mixed reinforcements, since bond characteristics of PC bars are different from those of non-tensioned deformed bars. For this reason, a reduced bond coefficients for PS bars is employed in this study.
It is quite difficult to predict the flexural strength of post-tensioned members with unbonded tendons (unbonded posttensioned members, UPT members) because of debonding behavior between concrete and prestressing tendons, which is different from that with bonded tendons. Despite many previous researches, our understanding on the flexural strength of UPT members is still insufficient, and thus, national codes use different methods to calculate the strength, which quite often give very different results. Therefore, this paper reviews various existing methods, and aims at proposing an improved rational strength model for UPT flexural members having better accuracy. Additionally, a database containing a large number of test data on UPT flexural members has been established and used for verification of the proposed flexural strength model. The analysis results show that the proposed method provides much better accuracy than many existing methods including the rigid-body model that utilizes the assumption of concentrated deformation and plastic hinge length, and that it also gives proper consideration on the effects of primary parameters such as reinforcement ratio, loading pattern, concrete strength, etc. Especially, the proposed method also well predicts the ultimate stress of unbonded tendons of over-reinforced members, which are often possible in construction fields, and high strength concrete members.
