A Research on the PMO Functions and PMO Management Level to Increase the IS Project Performance (정보시스템 프로젝트 성과 향상을 위한 PMO 기능과 관리수준에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, the IS project is getting more and more complicated and large-scaled. Many researchers and practitioners are interested in the IS development methodologies, automated tools and techniques to decrease project failure and to increase IS project performance. This research is to seize the management level of PMO affecting on the IS project, as a new method to increase the IS project development performance. As a result of surveying the present PMO operation state with banks which are the leading industry to accept the PMO in Korea, technology support management and infrastructure management are the core functions to affect the IS performance including schedule management, quality management, and user and stakeholders' satisfaction. Also, the PMO management level is the important point of IS project success. Among the 5 levels PMI suggested, PMO can implement the project effectively at least at the third level. Korean companies introducing the PMO have to do research the PMO core functions and the management levels according to the project scale, and review the distinctive features of their organization to increase the maturity of IS project. This research has been proved through the Full Structural Equation Model. The results show that the five core functions of PMO have relationship with the IS project performance.

An Analysis of Team Performance based on Member Formation: Approached by the Three Triads of Enneagram (팀원 구성에 따른 팀 프로젝트의 성과 분석: 에니어그램의 3 중심 성격유형을 통한 접근)

  • In engineering education, team projects play an important role to increase students' capability of solving problems and teamworking. Student achieves a success experience, which in turn provides self-efficacy, through successfully performed project. This paper deals with an analysis of team performance variation in accordance with the team member formation. Team members are categorized into three different charater types based on the three triads of Enneagram. The analysis result shows that the team performance varies with the member formation pattern.

  • IT 관련 프로젝트를 진행 시 프로젝트 진행 도중 예상치 못한 많은 문제에 봉착하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 IT 프로젝트 대부분이 도입, 사용하는 요구사항분석-설계-개발-테스트-배포-유지보수단계 중 개발단계 및 유지보수 단계에서 발생할 수 있는 문제점에 초점을 맞추었다. PMG 란 Project Management Negotiator 의 약자로서 개발 시 고객의 요구사항이 변경되면 고객과 개발자 간의 개발에 소요되는 난이도, 일정, 비용에 따른 관점이 다를 수 있으므로, 이러한 차이점을 서로 이해 할 수 있는 범위 내에서 감소시킬 수 있는 모델을 제시한다. 또한 제시한 모델에 근거한 매핑테이블과 프로세스를 개발하고 실제 pilot 시스템을 구축하여 효용성을 검증한다. 제시한 프로젝트 관리 협상 모델을 통하여 일정에 차질 없는 프로젝트가 수행 가능하며 비용절감 및 고객만족 효과를 거둘 수 있다. 결과적으로 일정, 비용 측면 및 고객 만족 세 가지 측면에서 기존의 프로젝트 개발 방법론보다 더 나은 일정준수, 효율성, 정확성 등의 정량적, 정성적 만족을 확보할 수 있다.

  • This paper, which was performed for an environmental analysis step in the information strategy planning, proposes the capable method of building a foundation which can improve the quality of results. An existing environment analyzing method is composed with external environment analysis, internal capacity analysis and information direction deriving activity. At the first stage of environment analysis, with current state analysis, preparation of interview with major stakeholder of project, carrying out the interview, added the activities to gain initial direction of the information. Then it applied a key-questioning of convergence scenario-based analysis for external environment analysis and internal capacity analysis. Performing the external environment analysis and internal capacity analysis with analysis model, convergence application of scenario-based analysis model was enabled to verify information direction on the initial setting. The result was applied at actual project site and was enabled to perform the project quickly, and to improve the quality of project results.

  • Project delivery systems determine the relationship, responsibility, authority and the scope of works of those involved in project, hence, optimum project delivery system should be selected to so that construction project would be executed successfully, Until now, the traditional design-bid-build mainly has been used for public projects, but the government is making efforts actively to introduce other methods such as design-build, alternative bidding by its policy. However, delivery systems should be determined through considering physical projects characteristics, owner's goals, external factors, etc, rather than government' policy. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to propose objective delivery system selection criteria and delivery system selection model, which help owners to select the suitable delivery system through quantitative and reasonable manner.

  • Becoming construction projects larger and more complicated, and utilizing more varied and complex contracting and delivery systems in the industry, integrating information and managing constructability from project inception to completion became the most critical tasks for the successful project management. However, current industry practices of constructability analysis which are too much dependent on field engineers and managers' experiences, are not performed efficiently and also not managed effectively. Then the scope, method, and procedure in performing analysis tasks are not certain as well as not systematic, In addition, due to using 2D based drawings and documents, information required at project phases for the analysis is inconsistent and inaccurate. This study aims to suggest the use of BIM technology and functions for solving various problems of current constructability practices. In particular, constructability analysis tasks performed at design and construction stages are identified and their adaptability, applicability, and benefits of BIM are investigated through interviews on constructability and BIM professionals in the industry.
