  • 최근 영상 데이터를 사용하여 서비스를 하는 분야가 늘어감에 따라 그 중 보안과 관련하여 영상데이터 내에 존재하는 객체를 추출하여 추적하는 방법에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 발전하고 있다. 최근에는 프레임버퍼링을 사용하여 초당 30프레임 이상의 영상을 처리하는 경우가 많다. 하지만 영상을 통한 객체 추적의 경우 빠르게 객체를 인지하여 움직임을 추적할 수 있는 기술이 드물다. 본 논문에서는 저속 처리되는 문제를 극복하기 위하여 프레임 버퍼링을 사용하여 객체를 추적할 때 차영상의 히스토그램을 사용할 것을 제안한다. 이에 따라 히스토그램을 사용하는 객체추적 시스템을 설계 및 구현하고, 본 추적능력을 검증한 결과 2배에 가까운 성능이 향상됨을 얻었다.

An Efficient z-Buffer Algorithm using Temporal Coherence (시간 일관성을 이용한 효율적인 z-버퍼 알고리즘)

  • We present a method that enhances the rendering speed of z-buffer algorithm using temporal coherence between two contiguous frames on fixed viewing conditions. Conventional z-buffer algorithm stores depth value for each pixel on a view plane while rendering some polygons, then it determines the visibility of the remaining polygons based on the stored depth values. If we can get color and depth information for some polygons without rendering, it is possible to generate an image by rendering only the remaining ones. In case of high frame rate, we can find the fact that sets of static polygons of the two contiguous frames are almost the same. This temporal coherence enables us to get the color and depth information of static polygons efficiently. Our algorithm stores color and depth information of static polygons and reuses it for generating the next frame. This method can be easily implemented since it does not require complex data structure and modification for conventional z-buffer algorithm. Also it is adequate for hardware implementation.

  • In the existing frame-layer rate control for H.264, buffer status and content complexity are used improperly, causing quality fluctuations of high-motion video at low bit rates and high frame rates (under 19.2 kbps at 30 fps). We propose an enhanced H.264 frame-layer rate control scheme to obtain steady video quality and stable buffer management. Experimental results showed that the proposed scheme performed better than existing schemes.

  • ATM Form has defined the guaranteed frame rate (GFR) service to provide minimum cell rate (MCR) guarantees for TCP traffic in ATM networks and allow it to fairly share residual bandwidth. GFR switch implementation consists of the frame-based generic cell rate algorithm (F-GCRA) and a frame forwarding mechanism. The F-GCRA identifies frames that are eligible for an MCR guarantee. The frame forwarding mechanism buffers cells at a frame unit according to information provided by the F-GCRA and forwards the buffered cells to an output port according to its scheduling discipline. A simple GFR mechanism with shared buffer with a global threshold is a feasible implementation mechanism, but has been known that it is insufficient to guarantee the MCR. This paper has estimated performance of GFR service for TCP traffic over ATM switches with the simple FIFO-based mechanism

  • The limitation of real-time video conferencing system is that the delay of network and buffering and the transmission of user information are not efficiently performed between systems, so real - time performance is not guaranteed completely. In order to overcome this problem, the study on the extension of the network infrastructure and the jitter delay is actively carried out, but the study on the buffering delay is insufficient. In this paper, we propose a frame-rate control buffer management (FRCB) scheme to solve the problem caused by buffering delay. The FRCB is used to prevent overflow and underflow of the buffer by adopting the two-stage buffer threshold of Fast-play THreshold (FTH) and Slow-play THreshold (STH). Therefore, it showed better performance than jitter buffer even under high CPU load, and showed that it is suitable for high quality real time video conferencing.

  • Rel-time application programs have constraints which need to be met between media-data. It is client-leading synchronization that is absorbing variable transmission delay time and that is synchronizing by feedback control and palyout control. It is the important factor for playback rate and QoS if the buffer level is normal or not. This paper, The method of maintenance buffer normal state transmits in multimedia server by appling feedback of filtering function. And synchronization method is processing adaptive playout time for smooth presentation without cut-off while media frame is skip. When audio frame which is master media is in upper threshold buffer level we decrease play out time gradually, low threshold buffer level increase it slowly.

A Buffer Size-based Retransmission Persistence Control for ARQ Protocols (버퍼 크기 기반 자동재전송 프로토콜의 재전송 지속성 제어)

  • This paper proposes a retransmission persistence control scheme for automatic retransmit request (ARQ) protocol to improve the reliability of a wireless link. Most existing ARQ protocols adopt a fixed retransmission persistence. If the ARQ protocol sets the retransmission persistence too low, there is a limitation in providing transmission reliability. On the other hand, if the ARQ protocol sets the retransmission persistence too high, it increases transmission delay and jitter. In order to figure out the problem, the proposed scheme considers the number of frames in the buffer in controlling the retransmission persistence; it improves the throughput of ARQ protocol by increasing the retransmission persistence when the number of frames is small and decreasing otherwise. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme decreases the transmission delay and jitter significantly comparing to the existing schemes.

HDTV Image Compression Algorithm Using Leak Factor and Human Visual System (누설요소와 인간 시각 시스템을 이용한 HDTV 영상 압축 알고리듬)

  • DSC-HDTV image compression algorithm removes spatial, temporal, and amplitude redundancies of an image by using transform coding, motion-compensated predictive coding, and adaptive quantization, respectively. In this paper, leak processing method which is used to recover image quality quickly from scene change and transmission error and adaptive quantization using perceptual weighting factor obtained by HVS are proposed. Perceptual weighting factor is calculated by contrast sensitivity, spatio-temporal masking and frequency sensitivity. Adaptive quantization uses the perceptual weighting factor and global distortion level from buffer history state. Redundant bits according to adaptation of HVS are used for the next image coding. In the case of scene change, DFD using motion compensated predictive coding has high value, large bit rate and unstabilized buffer states since reconstructed image has large quantization noise. Thus, leak factor is set to 0 for scene change frame and leak factor to 15/16 for next frame, and global distortion level is calculated by using standard deviation. Experimental results show that image quality of the proposed method is recovered after several frames and then buffer status is stabilized.

  • 다수의 사용자 요구에 의한 비디오 타이틀을 실시간으로 제공해야 하는 VOD 서비스는 서버/클라이언트 양쪽에서 서로의 상태를 제어하여 비디오 프레임을 송수신하는 메카니즘이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 VOD 서비스 구현의 일환으로 네트워크의 변화에 따라 동적으로 변하는 클라이언트의 버퍼 상태를 감시하여 서버에 제어신호를 발하고, 이에 따라 MPEG의 역 하이브리드 부호화로 프레임을 드로핑 전송하는 정책을 제시하여 최소한의 프레임 분실 및 파기를 방지하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 패킷 CDMA 망에서 버스트 트래픽 서비스를 위한 MAC 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안한 프로토콜은 임의 접속에 의한 패킷 충돌을 줄이기 위하여 코드 상태 감지 및 예약 기법을 사용한다 이를 위하여 기지국에서는 매 프레임마다 예약된 코드의 상태를 방송하고, 단말기는 이를 기반으로 임의의 예약되지 않은 코드를 선택하여 프리앰블을 전송한다. 기지국으로부터 코드 예약에 대한 응답을 수신한 단말기는 남은 프레임 동안 패킷을 전송한다. 한편 전송할 패킷이 단말기 버퍼에 남아있는 경우, 기지국에서는 코드의 상태를 예약상태로 방송하고, 단말기에서는 다음 프레임에서 예약한 코드를 통하여 남은 패킷을 전송한다.
