Undisturbed Sampler for Characterizing the Behaviour of Weathered Granite Residual Soils (화강풍화토의 거동 특성 규명을 위한 비교란 시료채취기 개발)

  • In Korea, granite is abundant and occupies around two-thirds of the country's ground. Bven though weathered granite residual soils are widely distributed, undisturbed sampling of this soil is extremely difficult because of the particultate structure. This difficulty has kept away the researchers from investigating !he deformational characteristics of weathered granite residual soil. Thus, a special undisturbed sampling device was developed and undisturbed samples were prepared for triaxial compression (TX), resonant column(RC), and torsional shear (75) tests. Local deformation transducer (LDT) was fabricated for internal strain measurements during TX tests. Both undisturbed samples and statically compacted samples of same density were tested by using TX with LDT, RC, and 75 test equipments. The behaviour of statically compacted specimens was almost the same as that of undisturbed samples in the strain ranges below 1 percent. The stiffness and strength decreased with increasing degree of weathering. In case of undisturbed specimens, strains at failure are widely varied from 2 percent to 11 percent, and planes of failure are irrelevant to the angle of internal friction due to the inhomogeneous nature.

  • The fullsized drawbar pull test is carried out in Yeog-gol area to find out the effect of test vehicle's trafficability with the variation of density and water content at the weathered granite soils and water content at the clayey soils. According to the results, it is found that the behavior of optimum drawbar pull is effected not only by water content but also by density. This paper showed the method of determination of optimum points at a curve of drawbar pull varying with the conditons of soils. And it also showed the optimum drawbar pull coefficient and optimum slip varying with the density of the weathered granite soils.

  • Increasing demand of rational analysis of dynamic soil behavior subjected to repetitive loading has evolved soil dynamics which is essential for proper design and/or analysis of dynamically loaded soil structure. In this paper, the stress-strain behavior of weathered granite soil under cyclic loading is stud- ied by measuring the strength and the strain before and after application of at least 11, 000 cycles of repetitive load. Relationships are suggested for predicting results of soil dynamics from those of soil statics.

  • 본 논문은 지하수 흐름하에서의 풍화 잔류토의 세립자 유동특성을 파악하기 위한 수치모델을 개발하고, 실내에서 실시한 수리 모형실험을 통하여 수치모델의 적합성을 규명하였다. 한국의 풍화 잔류토는 점토와 모래의 중간 상태의 특성을 보이는 관계로 기존의 토립자 유동모델중 점토 또는 모래에 적합한 모델에 의해서는 정확한 유동특성의 파악에 한계가 있었다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 한국의 풍화 잔류토에 적합한 세립자 유동모델을 제시함으로써 풍화 잔류토를 대상으로 시공되는 굴토공사, 댐 축조공사, 그리고 터널공사시 지하수 유입에 따른 세립토사의 유실특성을 이론적으로 규명하였고, 현장에서 배수재로 광범위하게 쓰이고 있는 토목섬유인 부직포의 투수 및 배수특성을 검토하였다

  • 국내 토층 사면을 대상으로 강우에 의해 발생되는 침투수 거동 특성을 분석함으로써 지속적인 토층의 물성 변화 계측을 통해 산사태 예 경보시스템을 구축이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 산사태 예 경보시스템 구축의 사전 단계로써, 국내 대표적인 지질 매질인 화강암 풍화토, 편마암 풍화토와 주문진 표준사에 대해 공극률과 체적함수비 등의 토질 물성 변화를 고려한 실내 보정실험을 수행하였다. 실험조건은 공극률, 체적함수비 변화에 대한 측정센서의 측정 정밀도 향상과 이를 통해 국내 현장토에 대한 고유 보정기법을 제시하기 위함이다. 측정센서는 각 실험 조건별 물성 변화에 따라 전압을 측정함으로써 현장토에 대한 물성치와 상호 분석이 가능하도록 하였다. 주문진 표준사 뿐만 아니라 국내 현장토인 화강암 풍화토와 편마암 풍화토에 대한 체적함수비에 대한 보정식도 함께 제시하였다.

Characteristics Changes of Weathered Soil by Weathering (풍화에 따른 풍화토의 특성 변화)

  • Since weathered soils are made by weathering process, the characteristics of weathered soils are strongly related to the originated rock and its forming process. Investigations on the originated rock and the weathering environments that decide the forming process are indispensable for the appropriate analysis on weathered soils. In this study, forming process of weathered soil is investigated by geological viewpoint. Test results show that weathering of rock is closely related to the distribution of rock-forming mineral and forming process. Weathered granite soils have the isotropic in-situ stress state and shearing behavior caused by the non-directional characteristics of originated rock. And weathered gneiss soils have the directional characteristics that mechanical behavior is determined by internal discontinuities. It it proved that the weathering resistance of Quarte is greater than that of feldspar and mica, and it is concluded that the thickness of weathered region is greatly influenced by the distribution of rock-forming mineral.

  • The successful execution of shield tunnelling depends on the cutting ability of cutter. So the selection of shape, size and material of cutter according to geology condition is important work. Since shield tunnelling method was first invented in 1881, the cutting tool for rock has been developed owing to various experiments and researches, the study for soil, however, is insufficient. This paper introduces the shield tunnelling that will be carried out on weathered rock section (920m) of Seoul Subway Line 7 Extension C703. The shape and the material of cutter are discussed required for execution without replacement of cutter tool as well as for advance of excavation efficiency. In addition the estimation method of cutter abrasion in case of excavation on weathered soil is proposed and verified. Specially, the coefficient of abrasion for different soil and cutter is proposed by means of investigation into construction example of foreign country.

A Study on the Failure Mechanisms of the Mixed-face Tunnels in Decomposed Granite (화강토지반내 복합막장터널의 파괴메카니즘 연구)

  • 서울지하철 터널의 상당 구간이 막장면이 풍화토에서 풍화암까지 변화하는 복합화강토지반에 건설되어 왔다. 화강암풍화지반은 심도에 따라 강도의 변화가 크며, 수위가 높고 투수성 지반인 특징을 갖는다. 터널은 주로 비원형 배수터널로 설계되고 NATM 공법으로 시공되었다. 이와 같은 여건의 터널현장에서 발생하였던 붕괴사례를 조사한 결과, 대부분의 붕괴가 터널 어깨 부근으로부터 시작되었고, 구조적으로 완전하지 않은 라이닝, 그리고 지하수와의 연관성 등의 공통적 특징이 확인되었다. 이러한 터널문제는 지반조건, 시공조건, 터널형상 등 경계조건이 복잡하여 한계평형 해석과 같은 종래의 해석적 방법으로 터널안정을 검토하기가 용이하지 않다. 그 가장 큰 이유중의 하나는 터널의 파괴메카니즘에 대한 분명한 정보를 알 수 없는데 있다. 파괴메카니즘의 조사에는 전통적으로 원심모형시험법이 많이 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 화강토지반내의 터널처럼 복잡한 경계조건을 갖는 터널문제에는 적용하기 어렵다. 따라서 이에 대한 하나의 대안으로서 본 논문에서는 지반거동의 비선형성을 고려하는 Coupled 수치해석법을 이용하여 파괴메카니즘을 조사하였다. 수치해석결과의 증분변위벡터, 누적소성편차변형률 그리고 속도특성치(velocity characteristics)의 분석을 통해 실제 붕괴사례와 잘 일치하는 명확한 파괴메카니즘을 파악할 수 있었다. 이로부터 복잡한 경계조건을 갖는 터널 문제의 안정해석을 위한 파괴메카니즘을 조사하는 수치해석적 접근방법을 제시하였다.

Evaluation Methods of Weathering Degree for Korean Decomposed Granite Soils (국내 화강풍화토 지반의 풍화도 평가방법)

  • In this study, decomposed granite soil samples were taken from 16 different regions and their weathering properties were investigated by testing their physical and chemical properties. According to the results, the Chemical Weathering Index (CWI) ranges from 15.5 to 30 in general and 12 out of the 16 regions show over 20 in CWI. The 12 regions are categorized into complete granite soil areas by Sueoka's classification. CWI, Li. $SiO_2,\; \DeltaS/S$ and SAR are all correlated significantly and used as indicators by which the degree of weathering can be judged. The degree of weathering can be measured especially through Li or $SiO_2$ which is considered as an easy approach of geotechnical classification. Also, the relationship between the value of N and Li is regarded as a good indicator in estimating the degree of weathering.
