  • 135 Degree standard hook workability crossed in the Reinforced Concrete (RC) Structure is improved and it reinforces in one side 90° hook binding. As a result, we proposed a One-touch Rebar Reinforcing Clip(RCC Device) that demonstrates the same performance as the 135° standard hook. It was developed through the evaluation of construction and economic analysis. As a result of analyzing 13 sites applied from June 2020, As expected, most of the cases were applied to the structural supervision or the point of the construction supervisor as an irresistible measure. therefore, Through field performance analysis, Various methods such as the method that the original contractor first purchases and then provides after contract with the partner company were proposed for the use of efficient and voluntary reinforcing clip. As a result, It is expected that the contribution in the field will be very high in terms of quality and process management through active utilization.

  • The purpose of this study is to secure the same or more structural performance and constructability for the details of hooks cross-constructed at 135 degrees used as external-ties standard detail in RC columns, therefore, to the purpose of improving constructability, the clip-type binding implement was suggested and A total of 28 pull-out specimens were prepared with the parameters of concrete compressive strength and clip-embeded length, clip installation location to examine the anchorage behavior of the clip-type binding implement. The experiment was carried out. The results of the experiment confirmed that the anchorage strength of the clip-type binding implement was higher than the details of hooks cross-constructed at 135-degree regardless of the diameter of tie and concrete strength, embeded clip length, clip installation. and The 90-degree end hook with clip-type binding implement was showed a similar an anchorage behavior of 135-degree end-hooked transverse reinforcement, consequently, The 90-degree end hooked with clip-type binding implement is evaluated to be the same anchorage behavior and performance as standard 135-degree end hook detail.

  • Because of the congestion problems, the high-strength reinforcements are expected to be used in nuclear power plant structures in the near future. According to ACI 349-13, it is permitted to use the high-strength(550MPa) hooked bars in design of development length, but there is no special equation for high-strength bars. In order to reflect the anchorage capacity and behavior properties of high-strength bars with large-diameter(43 & 57mm), it is necessary to develope the new development length equation for large-size and high-strength bars.

The results of the analysis confirmed that standard detail column took about an one hour regardless of the diameter of tie. When using the clip-type binding implement, It was reduced to about 50% of the standard detail column. and regardless of the building size, it was most effective for the cost down when using the clip-type binding implement 1ea, it was about 32% fo labor cost reduction effect in comparison with using standard detail. as a result, Using the clip-type binding implement is shown be very effective in the working time and construction cost reduction.

  • Generally, significant amount of reinforcements are used in nuclear power plant structures and it may cause several potential problems during the construction. In particular, it is more difficult to pour concrete into structural member joint area than other areas because of the significant congestion of the joint area due to a lot of hooked bars, embedded materials, and other reinforcements. The purpose of this study is to solve these problems due to the reinforcement congestion by using the high-strength(ASTM A615 Gr.80) headed deformed bars of large-sized diameter(43 mm & 57 mm) in nuclear power plant structures as a alternative of standard hooked bars. In order to use headed deformed bars effectively, It is necessary to find the method how to relax limits on their use while maintaining or improving the anchorage capacity. Therefore, this study will analyze the results of tests planned to evaluate the influence of the restricted variables, such as bar size, yield strength, clear cover thickness.

  • Generally, a lot of reinforcements are used in nuclear power plant concrete structures, and it may cause several potential problems when concrete is poured. Because of the congestion caused by hooked bars, embedded materials, and other reinforcements, it is too difficult to pour concrete into structural member joint area. The purpose of this study is to change ACI 349 Code for using the large-size(57mm) and high-strength(Gr.80) headed deformed bars instead of standard hooked bars in nuclear power plant concrete structures in order to solve the congestion problems.

  • This paper reports the test results of reinforced concrete exterior beam-column joints with high-strength concrete. The main parameters of eight specimens were joint failure modes, the compressive strength of concrete, and the head shapes of steel bars. All specimens were designed according to ACI 352R-02 design recommendations. Two types of failure modes were considered; J-failure and BJ-failure. The longitudinal steel bars were anchored by 90 degree standard hooks or headed reinforcement. Experimental results indicated that the current ACI design recommendation limited by the compressive strength of concrete somewhat underestimated the strength of beam-column joints with high-strength concrete. In the specimens showed joint shear failure, the strength of beam-column joints with headed bars was approximately 10 percent higher than that of joints with 90 degree standard hooks.

  • In ACI 318-19 published recently, the conditions and development length equation to use the headed deformed bars were changed considerably. Although the use of the larger-diameter(No.14 and 18) headed deformed bars isn't yet permitted, the use of the high strength(80,000psi) headed deformed bars is permitted and the effect of bar-diameter($d_b$) on the development length is increased considerably. Therefore, structures using larger-diameter headed deformed bars will be expected to be affected by this code change. We will study the effect of the code change on the development design and find out the design optimization method to minimize the effect of the changed conditions and development length equation.
