Study on the Development of Highly Efficient Compatibilizer for Polymer Alloys (고분자 알로이용 고효율 상용화제의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Poly(alkyl acrylate-g-caprolactone) graft copolymers were prepared, and they were applied as compatibilizing agents for polycarbonate (PC) / poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) (ABS) blends. The incompatible poly(alkyl acrylate) segment was incorporated into the graft copolymer in order to localize the copolymer at the PC/ABS interface. The blend containing 1 phr of the copolymer showed remarkable improvement in impact strength as well as in elongation at break. Impact improvement was more pronounced with a thinner test specimens of 1/8 inch thickness. Morphological study showed that the presence of the graft copolymer led to a smoother PC/ABS interface due to the interfacial enrichment of the graft copolymer.

Oil Absorptive Properties of Polypropylene Knit Fabric Treated with Oleophilic Acrylic Resin (친유성 아크릴 수지로 처리된 폴리프로필렌 편직물의 유흡착 성질)

  • Two types of oleophilic acrylic prepolymers were prepared by the solution copolymerization of either ethyl acrylate (EA) or lauryl acrylate (LA) with hydroxy ethyl acrylate (HEA). For the formation of oil-absorbent materials, a mixed solution of the prepolymer and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) as a cross-linker in toluene was applied to polypropylene knit velvet fabric through the conventional pad-dry-cure procedure. The gel fraction of the crosslinked resin, EA-HEA-HDI, increased with increasing feed ratio of HEA to total acrylate or HDI concentration. The oil absorbancy and retention ratio of the prepared materials were compared according to the add-on ratio of resin to fabric, and were assessed with n-decane, toluene, soybean oil, lubricant and bunker C oil as test oils. The optimal oil absorbancy of the materials were observed at around 6% of the add-on ratio for all these oils except for soybean oil. On the other hand, the oil retention ratio increased as the add-on ratio increased. Futhermore, heavier and more viscous oil generally showed higher oil retention ratios. In addition, the oil absorbancy of the materials treated with LA-HEA-HDI resin was higher than that treated with EA-HEA-HDI resin, which showed that the acrylic resins are more absorptive with increasing length of their side alkyl chain.

Quality characteristics, acrylamide content, and antioxidant activities of Nurungji prepared using different grains (곡물 종류를 달리하여 제조한 누룽지의 품질 특성, 아크릴아마이드 함량 및 항산화 활성)

  • We determined the quality characteristics, acrylamide concentration, and antioxidant activity of Nurungji prepared using white rice, brown rice, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) brown rice, oats, and barley. The moisture content of Nurungji prepared using white rice was the lowest (1.48%) and the highest (6.53%) was obtained in barley Nurungji. The brightness (L*) of white rice Nurungji was the highest, whereas that of GABA brown rice Nurungji was the lowest. The acrylamide concentration was the lowest (37.24 ㎍/g) in white rice Nurungji and the highest (255.50 ㎍/g) in oats Nurungji. The levels of total polyphenol and total flavonoid were the lowest in white rice Nurungji and high in oats and GABA brown rice Nurungji. The antioxidant activity was higher in Nurungji prepared using oats, GABA brown rice, brown rice, and barley than that using white rice. It is necessary to select an appropriate grain when preparing Nurungji by considering the amount of acrylamide produced.

  • 내열성복합재료와 Steel 구조물 사이의 좁고 긴 원통형 공간을 내열성 폴리우레탄 재료로 충전하는 연구를 수행하였다. 충전재료를 결정하기 위하여 3종의 폴리우레탄과 에폭시수지를 선정, 시험하여 내열성, 흐름성, 접착성, 경도측정 등을 통하여 최종 결정하였으며 선정된 폴리우레탄을 충전하기 위하여 Resin Transfer Molding(RTM) 방법을 사용하였다. 충전 공정의 적용여부를 판단하기 위하여 아크릴을 이용한 RTM치구를 설계, 제작하여 시험하였다. 충전된 조립체는 비파괴 검사를 통하여 접착, 기공 등을 검사하였으며 지상연소시험을 통하여 내열성능을 평가하였다.

  • 1. 서론 : 이온 복합막은 투과증발을 통한 유기수용액의 탈수에 있어서 높은 수투과유량과 선택도를 나타내는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 장시간 운전시에 이온 복합막은 막표면에 있는 금속 counterion이 feed에 씻겨버리기 때문에 분리능의 급격한 감소를 띠게 된다. counterion이 유기물일 경우에는 막속으로 확산되어 우기농축물에 포함될 문제가 있다. counterion이 고분자이면, 막 효능의 안정성이 증가되지만 막 제조과정이 다소 어려워진다. 아크릴산과 스티렐폰산을 포함하고 있는 개질 PAN막을 이용한 피리딘 수용액의 탈수에 관한 이전의 연구에서, 피드내의 피리딘과 막내의 산 기능기 사이에 형성된 in-situ complex가 막의 투과물사이에 특별한 반응이 없거나 막과 주요 투과 물간에 수소결합이 있는 막보다 더 좋은 탈수 효능을 나타냄이 확인되었다. 본 연구에서는 포스페이트를 함유하고 있는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 막의 제조와 피리딘 수용액의 탈수 효능에 대해 언급할 것이다.

Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(urethane-ethyl acrylate) Hybrid Emulsion (폴리(우레탄-에틸 아크릴레이트) 혼성 에멀젼의 합성과 물성 비교 연구)

  • Poly(urethaneethyl acrylate) hybrid emulsions were synthesized to improve their thermomechanical and solvent resistance properties. In the synthesis, dimethylol propionic acid was used to impart hydrophilicity to the hybrid polymers, and ethyl acrylate monomer was added to the polyurethane prepolymer after neutralization with triethylamine. After dispersion of the neutralized prepolymer, chain extension was carried out with ethylene diamine. Consequently, poly(urethaneethyl acrylate) hybrid emulsion was prepared via soap free emulsion polymerization of ethyl acrylate with reduction-oxidation initiator couple of t-butyl hydroperoxide/sodium bisulfite at $50^{\circ}C$. Tehsile strength, 100% modulus, elongation, and solvent-resistance properties of the hybrid emulsion were measured and compared with those of polyurethane homopolymer, poly(ethyl acrylate) homopolymer, and simple blended samples.

  • Poly[1-(cholesteryloxycarbonyloxy)ethylene](PCOE) and poly[1-(cholesteryloxycarbonylheptanoyloxy)ethylene] (PCOSE) were prepared by reacting poly(vinyl alcohol) with cholesteryl chloroformate or 8-cholesteryloxycarbonylheptanoly] chloride (CH8C), and their thermal and optical properties were investigated. CH8C formed a monotropic cholesteric phase whereas PCOE and PCOSE exihibited enantiotropic cholesteric phases. Like in the case of CH8C, the optical pitch $(\lambda_m)$ of PCOSE decreased with increasing temperature. PCOE, contrast with PCOSE, did not display reflection colors, suggesting that the helical twisting power or the cholesteryl group highly depends on the length or the spacer joining the cholesteryl group to the main chain. The mesophase properties of PCOE and PCOSE were entirely different from those of poly $(cholesteryl-\omega-acryloyloxyalkanoates)$. The results indicate that the mode of chemical linkage of the side chain group with the main chain plays an important role in the formation, stabilization, and temperature dependence of $\lambda_m$ of the cholesteric mesophase.

Small Angle X-ray Scattering Studies on Deformation Behavior of Rubber Toughened Polycarbonate (소각 X-선 산란을 이용한 고무입자로 강인화된 폴리카보네이트의 변형에 관한 연구)

  • In order to study the toughening mechanism of rubber modified polycarbonate, the sequence of development of micro-voids was investigated by real-time small angle X-ray scattering with Synchrotron radiation (SR-SAXS). The used test method was wedge test. The scattering intensity increases with increasing penetration depth of wedge, i.e. applied strain. The increase is due to the micro-void formation during deformation. This micro-void was uniformly developed in matrix and was different from large-void due to internal cavitation of rubber particle and/or debonding between rubber particle and polycarbonate matrix. The micro-void was developed at the critical strain and the radius of micro-void is around $600{\AA}$. Above the critical strain the size of micro-void remains almost constant with increasing applied strain. However, the population of micro-void increased with applied strain.

  • A conductive poly(acrylonitrile)/polypyrrole composite fabric was prepared. A conductive composite was prepared by the impregnation of PAN fabric into a mixed solution of pyrrole and oxidant in order to induce the in-situ polymerization of a conducting polymer into the matrix fabric. In the composite formation, the reaction condition was optimized to achieve the best properties, and the effect of the externally-added arylsulfonate dopants on the physical properties was examined. As a result, the best properties of electrical conductivity, thermal stability, and fastness to washing, was observed in the composite containing an antraquinonesulfonate (AQSA) dopant.
