  • 울산항은 우리나라 최대의 산업지원항만이며, 물동량 처리면에서 국내 3위를 점하는 위상을 확보하고 있다. 또한 액체화물 처리량은 국내 1위이며, 울산항 전체화물 처리량 중 액체화물 처리 비중이 2010년 기준 79.4%로 압도적이다. 그러나 항만의 난개발로 인해 일반화물과 액체화물이 같은 부두에서 처리되고 있는 경우도 있으며, 항만시설 부족으로 인하여 체선과 체화현상이 극심하다. 본 연구는 울산항 항만운영 활성화 방안으로 포항항과 연계하여 항만 배후에 위치하는 국가산업단지의 특성에 맞추어 일반화물을 포항항으로 이전하였을 때의 효과를 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on the Traffic Flow and Navigational Characteristics for the Ship's Routing of Po-hang Port (포항항 항로지정을 위한 주요 통항로 및 통항 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The approaching waters of Po-hang port will be increased the traffic volume and passage of larger vessel according to the opening of Young-il new port in 2006. But the adjacent area of Po-hang port still exist the danger elements of safe navigation, the disordered navigation and traffic congestion. Therefore the safety of traffic must be improved in Po-hang vicinity area. This paper describes the status of marine traffic flow and navigational characteristics based on the marine traffic survey using the exclusive software, and the results of marine traffic survey classify into the ship's types and tonnage and track history of passing ships through the statistical method. Finally the examinations of main traffic route, traffic flow and navigational characteristics are discussed, and these results can be utilized the best design of ship's routing at the Po-hang approaching water.

  • The traffic volume will be increased and the traffic of larger vessel could be multiplied in the Pohang port by the opening of the Young-il new port in 2006. Unfortunately, however, potential danger factors to the safe navigation, disordered navigation and traffic congestion are still existing in the Pohang port and approaching waters. This paper describes the status of marine traffic flow and navigational characteristics based on the marine traffic survey using the exclusive software, and the results of marine traffic survey classify into ship's type, size and track history of passing ships through the statistical methods. Finally the examinations of marine traffic route, traffic flow and navigational characteristics are discussed. These results can be used for the best design of ship's routing at the Pohang waters.

  • Pohang port have specified 19 anchorage and 3 quarantine anchorage, but this anchorage is insufficient required anchorage because the average daily use of more than 40 vessels, also Pohang anchorage have geographical characteristics that are open to offshore northeast direction.   • The physical characteristics and contaminant level of the dredged material generated by the channel maintenance and water quality improvement was analysed in a series of the study of the beneficial uses of dredged material in harbor. Dredged materials were sampled at Kunsan, Kohyun, Samchunpo, and Pohang Harbors and tested in the laboratory(leaching Test). From the experimental results, the specific gravity does not shows large differences, while almost grains are composed of silts and oyster shells except Pohang harbor containing gravels. The COD release rate and ignition loss is high in Kunsan dredged materials because of the watershed pollutants loads. The nutrient release rate is also relatively high. The release concentration of the heavy metals shows the highest values on Zn, Pb, Cd, Cu constituents at Kohyun, Kunsan, Samchunpo, Kunsan, respectively.

A Study on the Improvement for Port Placement of Response Vessel (방제선 배치 항만의 개선 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate port use and the distribution of risk factors in 15 major ports in Korea, delineating the risk of each port after classifying the ports into four risk groups based on estimated risks. The placement of response vessels is then analyzed accordingly. Based on the results, danger was estimated to be especially high in ports where large-scale petrochemical facilities are located, such as Yeosu Gwangyang ports (1.85), Ulsan port (1.33) and Daesan port (1.25). The ports showing the next highest degree of danger were Pusan (0.95) and Incheon (0.83), which have significant vessel traffic, followed by Mokpo (0.71) and Jeju (0.49), which expanded their port facilities recently and saw an increase in large vessel traffic. Next is Masan (0.44), for which many fishing permits in the vicinity. When the relative ratios of each port were graded based on the Yeosu Gwangyang Ports, which showed the highest risk values, and risk groups were classified into four levels, the highest risk groups were Yeosu Gwangyang, Ulsan, Daesan and Pusan, with Incheon, Mokpo, Jeju, and Masan following. Pyeongtaek Dangjin, Pohang, Gunsan, and Donghae Mukho were in the mid-range danger group, and the low risk groups were Samcheonpo, Okgye, and Changsungpo. Among these, all response vessel placement ports specified by current law were above the mid-range risk groups. However, we can see that ports newly included in mid-range risk group, such as Mokpo, Jeju, and Donghae Mukho, were excluded from the pollution response vessel placement system. Therefore, to prepare for marine pollution accidents these three ports should be designated as additional response vessel placement ports.

The Seiches At Pohang Harbor (포항항의 해면부진동 현상)

  • A statistcal investigation was made on the seiches at Pohang harbor, east of Korea, based on the data of observations for the year 1973 and 1974. Pohang harbor has a most remarkable seiches comparing to the major harbors in Korea. The frequently observed conspicuos seiches at the harbor have a period of 20 to 24 minutes mostly and 60 to 84 minutes in the next place. Maximum height of seiches were 50cm in 1973 and 60cm in 1974, respectively, which were occured at the expansions of cold-dry continental high pressure and on the following day of passages of lowest pressurs. Minus tides at Pohang were occured more frequently than that of seiches and the minus tides falled more greatly at the time of seiches.

  • The aim of this study is identifying characteristics of spatial distribution using submerged debris data on the bottom of sea ground. Marine debris is classified into floating and submerged debris. These are polluting marine environment, ecology and habitat by floating and submerged. Also it takes a lot of money when it is to process the waste flowing into the ocean. In this study, it is used data of submerged debris by side scan sonar on the bottom of sea ground in Pohang port. Submerged distribution map is made to identify spatial classified characteristics of SMD(submerged marine debris) using by position and weight per area of SMD.
