Effect of Liner Component Coatings by Oxidized Starch on Properties of Corrugated Board (라이너지의 산화전분 코팅이 골판지의 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • Coating was carried out on liner components of B flute, single-wall corrugated board(SK180/S120/K200) to examine the effect of liner component coatings by oxidized starch on the properties of corrugated board. Both bursting strength and edgewise compression strength(ECS) of corrugated board were improved by coating of its liner components with oxidized starch. Bursting strength of corrugated board rapidly increased with an initial increase of coating weight, but as the coating weight further increased, there was no increase in bursting strength. The results showed 30.3% improvement for $2.32g/m^2$ coating on outside liner component, 36.8% improvement for $4.84g/m^2$ coating on inside liner component and 39.9% improvement for $7.16g/m^2$ coating on both liner components in bursting strength of corrugated board. Regardless of treated liner components, ECS of corrugated board was improved by coating of oxidized starch, and especially greater improvement was accomplished when corrugated board was coated on inside liner component or both liner components at low level of coating weight - 11.3% improvement for $1.58g/m^2$ coating on Inside liner component and 11.9% improvement for $2.99g/m^2$ coating on both liner components.

Landscape Changes Assessment of the National Road-Focused on the National Road in Suburb Areas- (국도의 경관변화 평가-교외지역 국도를 중심으로-)

  • In this study, landscape changes were examined by periods through the analysis of visual quantity on the landscape components of national road including the mountains, the sky, road pavements, street trees, paddy fields and dry fields, billboard, telegraph pole, building, structure, slope, guard fence, soundproof wall, and median strip etc. For this, subject national road in suburb arreas was selected to grasp its landscape characteristics, and divisional criteria of landscape type of the national road were suggested to look into the trend of landscape changes by periods. Findings of this study are as follows:1.Divisional criteria of landscape type of the national road include location and geometry, structure, land use, perspective, and surrounding buildings of the national road. 2.The highest visual quantity was found in road pavements by periods among landscape components of the national road. It was found that this result has a thread of connection with previous study emphasizing the importance of road geometry as one of landscape components, and road geometry shall be regarded as a visually significant component in analyzing and evaluating landscape of the national road. 3.Most distinguished factors of landscape changes of the national road by periods were median strip(F=33.296) and street tree(F=32.881), and then the sky(F=24.735) and mountain(F=23.477) showed similar level of statistically significant difference. However, statistically significance difference was not found in buildings and structures. 4.It was shown that natural elements decreased gradually but structural landscape made of artificial elements became the main in construction of the national road. This result implies that although the scenic and ecological soundness is recognized in construction of the national road, it is not out of the limitation of functionalities that is, access and mobility.

Effect of Latent Heat Material Placement on Inside Temperature Uniformity of Insulated Transfer Boxes (단열용기의 잠열재 배치에 따른 내부 온도 균일성에 대한 영향)

  • An optimized design of the transportation insulated box must be considered to control the thermal damage in order to maintain the fresh condition for temperature-sensitive medicine and frozen food safety. The inside temperature of the insulated box is a natural convection enclosure state, thermal stratification naturally occurs as time passes in case of with outside heat load. The latent heat material (LHM) placement inside the box maintains the target temperature of the product for temperature fluctuations during transport, and LHM application is a common and efficient method. In this work, inside temperature stratification in an insulated box depending on the LHM pack position is numerically simulated and experimented. The insulated box is made up of vacuum insulation panel (VIP), and LHM modules are placed over six faces inside the box, with the same weight. The temperature curves for 72 hrs as experiment results clearly show the temperature stratification in the upper, middle, and lower at the LHM melting time region. However, the temperature stratification state is uniformly changed in accordance with the condition of the upper and lower placement weight of the LHM pack. And also, the temperature uniformity by changed placement weight of LHM has an effect on maintaining time for target air temperature inside the box. These results provide information on the optimized design of the insulated box with LHM.

  • Airport GIS is a comprehensive information system to improve security and efficiency of airport. At the initial stage to make it real, the current status of domestic and international regulations along with relevant standardization bas been reviewed. Gimpo Airport becomes a test-bed to get some ideas about how to bring the airport GIS into workflow by building service model and basic design based on current status and demand analysis of the airport. The 6 service models primarily brought into the project are as follows: (1) Local vehicles safety management in airside, (2) Intelligent traffic control between flights and vehicles at main cross points, (3) Dynamic safety management against FOD in airside and breakage on pavement, (4) Special support vehicle management such as deicing remotely controlled, (5) Response and support for fire vehicles and ambulances of signatory institutions in emergency. The upcoming research topic aims at drawing a specific design and building integrated system in the future.

  • Recent development in Japan on jumbo formulation of pesticides for paddy application by hand throw was reviewed. In addition, the diffusion of liquid formulations in water was examined to establish the research strategy for the jumbo formulation. Research on jumbo formulation in Japan has been focused on gas-generating formulations and self-emulsifiable formulations. Although continuous efforts to minimize the problem of pesticide deposit on the treated site have been made for the gas-generating formulations, much work is still needed to establish a generally acceptable formulation method and to commercialize a herbicide formulation. The self-emulsifiable jumbo formulations have recently been investigated. These formulations could simply be processed and showed relatively high biological efficacy. The emulsifiable concentrate was more diffusible than the suspension concentrate in water. The diffusion of the emulsifiable concentrate was not greatly disturbed by floating obstacles. And the diffusion rate was high when the specific grabity was lower than one.

Positive Study of How Green Zones in the City Effect the Relief of Micro-Climate Control (도시녹지가 미기상조절에 미치는 실증적 연구)

  • This study observed the temperature and humidity within the green zone to understand the effect that land coverage and the structure of forests have on the relief of micro-climate control. Based on this set of data, this study interpreted, through the regression analysis, the relevance of land coverage of the green zone with temperature and distribution of humidity, as well as the amount of green with the relief of microclimate control. The results of the study demonstrated that high temperature regions were formed in barren areas, and low temperature regions in forests or near the water. In particular, low temperature was found in areas covered with tall and small trees, the water surrounded by forests and areas enclosing small rivers. Furthermore, mechanisms causing low temperature were, among others, the ratio of land coverage (forest, grassland, water). In fact, the temperature reduction effect varied in accordance with the types and ratios of the land coverage. Humidity also showed a close correlation with the distribution of temperature high temperature areas had low humidity and low temperature areas had high humidity. Such a phenomenon.

Vibration Characteristics and Drop Impacts of Bear Glass Bottles During Truck Transit (트럭 운송시 맥주용 유리병의 진동 및 낙하 특성)

  • There has been an increasing demand on measurement of the vibration levels in commercial truck shipments, where all packaged products are exposed to some levels of random vibration and shock. In this study, bear glass bottles loaded at the front, middle, and rear positions of 11 tonne truck bed was shipped from Kwangju to Waegouan. Vertical direction vibration levels were analysed and matching laboratory random vibration test was performed using power spectral density (PSD) profiles derived from truck transit records. Also, the effects of drop hight on glass bottles were evaluated. As expected, the maximum vibration levels were recorded at the rear of truck bed. No breakage of bottles were observed during truck transit and laboratory random vibration testing set at 0.52 $G_{rms}$. In drop test, glass bottles were not damaged by bottom side impact, while short side drop impact caused about twice higher bottle breakage rate than that of long side drop impact at 30 cm and 40 cm drop hight.

  • Triangle-shaped island was been used for the exclusive separation between the right-turn and the through flow. However, in case that existing Triangle-Shaped Island is built at the intersection of narrow road. there are more possibilities of traffic collision trespassing into the opposite lane. Accordingly, separation of the opposite lane is required so as to prevent the intrusion of the large-sized (a heavy) vehicle into the opposite lane turning at the intersection. This study showed the comparison between intersection composed of existing Triangle-Shaped Island and the intersection with Drop Island is added. First of all, in the safety aspect, a method to decide location and shape of Drop Island considering turning trajectory of the large-sized (the heavy vehicle) is addressed. The guideline on the placement of drop island install location and method to decide form the consider heavy truck's turn trajectory in safety side. As a conclusion. we analyzed that drop island is relatively superior to existing Triangle-Shaped Island in terms of driver, ease of driving, driving pleasantness, pedestrian, widening and economic performance aspect.

Effect of Onggi on Bread Quality (옹기가 빵 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • How do we use onggi, Korean earthenware, for container of dough during fermentation instead of stainless steel container? How does it affect the flavor of bread if onggi tray is used in baking instead of steel tray? We tried to confirm those. As a result, the characteristics of onggi made positive effect on dough in fermenting room. The time, when the temperature of the center in the dough is equilibrated to that of surface on the dough, take shorter in onggi than in stainless steel. It could make the temperature of dough maintained evenly with little deviation, which could result in shorter fermentation time. Volume and surface color of the bread baked on onggi tray were better than on steel tray. The bread baked on onggi tray got higher score on overall acceptability in sensory test than on steel tray. Therefore, if onggi is used during baking, it could produce better quality of bread like making positive effect on fermented foods.

Characteristics of Solid Culm and Solidness Variation in Winter Wheat and Triticale (Solid형 맥류의 줄기의 특성과 Solidness 변이)

  • To evaluate the suitability of solid-culm crops for silage, culm characteristics and the variation of solidness in several solid-culm and hollow-culm cultivars of wheat and triticale were examined both in the field and greenhouse. The degree of culm solidness and the voiume of air space in each internodes were measured at heading. The solidness of solid-culm were increased by the development of pith connected with vascular bundles. There was a variation in solidness among the crops tested. The degree of solidness in hollow -culm crops was 14.6% and 15.0% for 'Wonkwang' wheat and 'Shinkihomil' triticale, whereas in solid-culm crops the degree was 77.0-100% for durum wheats, 61. 0-95.8% for bread wheats and 18,7-57,0% for triticales. For 'Golden ball' which had the most solid culms among durum wheats tested higher solidness was observed in the greenhouse than the field, in the high internodes than low ones and in tiller culms than main stems. The solid-culm crops had a smaller air volume in internodes (1.01-2.30ml) than did 'Shinkihomil' (4.85ml) and this characteristics was considered to be advantageous for air removal and lactic fermentation at ensilaging.
