  • The aimed of this study is to analyze the qualities of foundry waste sand and the basic physic of the concrete mixed with the foundry waste sand, as a way of study for reusing the foundry waste sand disused in the foundry as the fine aggregate for concrete. According to the experimental results, the foundry waste sand is composed of silica ore whose main ingredient is SiO2 and doesn't produce harmful objects of hydration reaction, and the fluidity of concrete shows a decline with the increase of replacement ratio of foundry waste sand, and the compress strength, the tensile strength, the elastic modulus of concrete containing foundry waste sand are improved at the replacement rate of 25%.

  • The purpose of this study is to choose the right chemical admixture to reduce slump loss of lightweight aggregate concrete. So we compare 3 types of chemical admixture as measuring slump loss from mixing to 60 minutes. The lightweight aggregate of this study is made by clayt and dust from lots of industry. To save natures, we will use many types of industrial wastes and try to spend much making artificial aggregate.

  • The purpose of this study was manufactured and evaluated the bond performance of recycled polyethylene terephthalate(PET) bottle fiber reinforced concrete. Four deformed recycled PET bottle fibers were manufactured and pullout test was conducted in accordance with the JCI-SF 8. Test parameters included four different type of fiber geometry and two types of mortar specimens. According to bond test results, it was found that embossing type recycled PET bottle fiber was significant improving the pullout load and interface toughness.

  • Polymer concrete has more useful than cement concrete in the strength and durability. So, it is widely utilizing as panel for wall, manhole for communication, foundation and underground connection box, etc. But polymer concrete is a defect that is disadvantageous in economical aspect because cost of resin is expensive. Polymer concrete (PC) using unsaturated polyester resins based on recycled polyethylene terephthalate(PET) plastic waste were used in our study for grasping its mechanical properties such as compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength and chemical resistance was tested by dealing with 20% HCl, 30% NaOH. As a result of it, compressive, tensile and flexural strength of PC indicated 752kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 80kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 243kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ kind of satisfaction successively. Also, properties of chemical resistance are superior to those of cement concrete.

  • This paper presents results of an experimental program for evaluating the mechanical properties of green strain-hardening cementitious composite (SHCC) using recycled material. Recycled poly ethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber, fly ash, and recycled sand from waste concrete are used as materials for green SHCC. Test results indicated that average tensile strength of five dumbbell-shaped specimen is 4.76MPa and average compressive and flexural strength of three specimens are 38MPa and 7.40MPa, respectively.

  • Recently, the amount of disposed construction materials like demolished concrete is growing fast and the shortage of natural concrete aggregates is becoming serious. Therefore, recycling of aggregates extracted from the demolished concrete is getting important and use of the recycled aggregates for concrete has been seriously considered. However, the use of the recycled aggregates even for low performance concretes is very limited because there are few rational standard evaluation criteria for recycled aggregates which should be different from that for natural aggregates. In this study, rational evaluation criteria for the recycled aggregates are proposed for their use as concrete aggregates. The study also shows that the performance for both the recycled aggregates and the recycled concrete manufactured with the recycled aggregates can be evaluated effectively according to water absorption ratio of recycled aggregates.

  • The recycled concrete, average compressive strength of which was 2l0kg/cm$^2$ or higher with slump range of 14~18cm, was prepared by replacing 25% and 50% by weight of coarse aggregate with recycled aggregate from waste concrete. Mix design method for crushed aggregates was used and all specimens were cured by normal moisture curing method. A plasticiser and a fly ash were added to the mix to improve performance of recycled concrete. Flexural strength, stress- strain relationship and fracture toughness were evaluated by comparing with those of normal concretes. Recycled concrete showed, in general, lower flexural strength and fracture toughness, and higher strain under the same stress level. Fly ash in the concrete had an effect of reducing the strength and fracture toughness on both normal and recycled concretes. Since fly ash is known to improve many properties of concrete, while reducing strength properties, decision for using fly ash should be made carefully depending on the intended usage of the recycled concrete.

  • As Waste-concretes generated in construction field are increasing, it is becoming difficult and expensive to dispose them. For environmental reasons, many attempts have been made to find ways of reusing these materials. However, very little waste-concrete is currently recycled or reused anywhere on the world. Recycled concrete is mainly used as nonstabilized base of sub-base in highway construction. In this study, in order to promote the reuse of the waste-concretes, no-fines concrete blocks using recycled concrete aggregates were produced and their properties are evaluated. From the test results about strengths, pemeability, and durability, it is known that to use recycled aggregates for construction goods is promising and economical.

  • Waste concrete powder(WCP) has been estimated with a great value-added material as by-product of waste concrete manufactured to fine and coarse aggregate for concrete, because it is able to utilized for cement clinker and concrete admixture. Experimental tests were performed as such plastic viscosity of paste, flow and compressive strength of mortar by surface area of WCP. As a result, flow and 28days compressive strength of mortar was decreased according to increased replacement ratio of WCP as compared to control mortar. Also, plastic viscosity of paste used WCP1 and WCP2 was decreased with increasing replacement ratio, but WCP3 was increased with increasing replacement ratio.

  • At present, about 40 million tons of concrete is dismantled each year, which accounts for the largest portion of the total amount of construction waste with 60.8%. It is known about 97.5% of it is recycled. However, most of the usage of waste concrete is limited to lower value-added business areas, and considering the increasing amount of waste concrete generated due to the deterioration of structures, the need for converting waste concrete to structural concrete is urgent. Therefore, this study aims at estimating the period for the optimum carbonation reforming to improve the quality of recycled aggregate, by making use of the method of accelerated carbonation reforming of the bonding heterogeneous (cement paste and mortar) for the purpose of converting recycled aggregate to structural concrete. Based on the period appropriate for the heterogeneous thickness and each bonding thickness of recycled aggregate which was drawn from previous studies, the changes in the characteristics and physical properties of pore structure according to progress of accelerated carbonation were analyzed. The result shows that with the progress of carbonation, the pore volume and the percentage of water absorption of the bonding heterogeneous decreased and the density increased, which indicates improvement of the product quality. But after certain age, the tendency was reversed and the product quality deteriorated. Synthesizing the results of previous studies and those of the present study, this study proposed 4 days and 14 days respectively for the period for the optimum carbonation reforming of recycled fine aggregate and recycled coarse aggregate.
