The Effects of Educational Context Variables on Achievement and Interest in Mathematics in High and Low Achieving Students (수학 성취와 흥미에 영향을 주는 변인의 성취 집단별 차이)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of educational context variables on achievement and interest in mathematics in high and low achieving students in Korea. Students participated in TIMSS 2015 in Korea were divided into two groups according to their achievement in mathematics. And the effects of educational context variables on achievement and interest in mathematics were analyzed in each group using the Hierarchical Linear Model(HLM). Main findings of this study are as follows. First, variables which influence achievement also influence interest but any variables which influence interest don't influence achievement in upper-group students. Number of Books and Students' Perceived Mathematics Lessons have strong influence on achievement and interest in both fourth and eighth grade students. Second, variables which influence achievement or interest in mathematics in lower-group also influence achievement or interest in mathematics in upper-group students. But any variables which influence achievement or interest in upper-group students don't influence achievement or interest in lower-group students. For examples, Parents' Education, Students' Perceived Mathematics Lessons have effects on upper-group students' achievement. Number of Books, Home Learning Environment, and Numeracy Activities Before School have significant effects on the achievement of fourth grade students. Students' Perceived Mathematics Lessons is the variable that influence on the interest of both fourth grade and eighth grade students. This study suggests the ways to improve mathematics teaching and learning based on these results.

A Study on Oral Health Knowledge, Recognition, Practice and Satisfaction of Patients by Applying a Targeted Program within a Dental Hygiene Process (치위생과정에서의 일부 프로그램 적용에 따른 환자의 구강건강지식, 인식, 실천과 만족도 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate a clinical preventative care program, based on a dental hygiene process (accessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation; ADPIE) in a dental clinic, by analyzing patient recognition, knowledge, practice, and satisfaction with respect to oral health. The collected data (in percentages) were analyzed Fisher's exact test and paired t-test using IBM SPSS ver. 21.0 (IBM Co., USA). This study demonstrated a significant difference in oral health knowledge, recognition, and practice before and after the clinical preventive care program (p<0.05). The results were significant in the individual preventive plan within the planning stage, and in the professional teeth cleaning implementation stage (p<0.05). This result can be attributed to the sympathy of the dental hygienist (p<0.05). There was a positive correlation between recommending dental checkups and regular checking of the (r=0.552, p<0.05), undergoing radiography (r=0.434, p<0.01), following an individual preventive plan (r=0.568, p<0.01), undergoing proximal machine teeth cleaning (r=0.437, p<0.05), following tooth brushing instructions (r=0.552, p<0.05), and the evaluation results (r=1.000, p<0.05). Our results demonstrate, that the clinical preventive care program, based on dental hygiene, is an effective program. Given the positive effect of dental revisits and patient recommendations promoting dental hygienists, it is hoped that this preventative program will be widely used.

A Study on the Child Care Providers' Perception on the Seoul-Type Child Care Accreditation System (서울형 어린이집 공인인증에 대한 보육시설 종사자의 인식연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the perception of directors and child care providers regarding the Seoul-type Child Care Accreditation and its operating system. The objects were 309 directors and child care providers at accredited Seoul-type child care centers. The collected data was analyzed using frequency, percentiles, and ${\chi}^2$. The results are as follows: First, the majority of directors and child care providers perceived 'the preparation for effective quality control of child-care service' as the primary purpose of the Seoul-type Child Care Accreditation. Many of them responded that the child care centers meeting the purpose of accreditation would be 'private' and 'home-based' ones. Seoul-type Child Care Accreditation was easier to pass compared to National Child Care Accreditation. The directors and child care providers perceived that the accreditation will narrow the gap between public and private child care centers. Second, in operating customized child-care service, most directors preferred 'submits only the same plan as that of a designated one', but most child care providers preferred 'assessment after providing customized child-care'. For the reliable child-care service and accounting management system, both subject groups showed general satisfaction with 'current system'. Third, both subject groups responded that 'overtime pay for child care providers' and 'government's consistent child-care policy' were what they desire most to improve Seoul-type Child Care Accreditation.

  • 시각과 관련된 정서 연구 중에서 색에 대한 연구나 움직임에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어져 왔으나 정적인 형태 자체에서 감성을 불러일으킬 수 있는가에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 2차원적인 형태 중, 모든 형태의 기본이 되는 3가지 기본적인 도형(삼각형, 사각형, 원)을 중심으로 도형의 물리적 속성에 따른 감성 차이가 있는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 도형의 물리적 속성은 물체 인식과 시각 디자인에서 중요시되는 요소인 방향성, 정형성, 비례, 예리함을 중심으로 감성이 어떻게 달라지는지를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 방향성, 정형성, 비례, 예리함에 따라 도형에 따른 감성의 차이가 모두 존재함을 알 수 있었다. 도형간의 차이는 쾌 불쾌 차원에서는 원으로 갈수록 쾌함을 확인했고 각성 차원에서는 삼각형으로 갈수록 각성이 높아짐을 알 수 있었다. 방향성은 수평, 수직보다 기울어진 형태에서 쾌하고 각성이 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 비례는 너비와 높이의 비가 1:1 일 때 각성이 가장 낮고 쾌한 정도가 상대적으로 가장 높음을 알 수 있었고 비정형 도형일수록 불쾌하고 각성이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 도형과, 방향성 비례 그리고 정형성간의 상호작용 측면도 살펴보았고 어떤 요소가 더 영향을 미칠 수 있는지도 살펴보았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 도형이 어떤 속성이 이러한 감성을 불러일으키는 요인인지를 알아보기 위한 추가실험도 실시하였다. 그 결과 도형의 속성 중 모서리의 예리함이 감성차이를 불러일으킬 수 있는 요인이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었고 선 형태와의 상호 작용 시 예리함이 감성에 더 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인임을 추론할 수 있었다. 이러한 도형이 주는 감성 연구는 도형의 감성적인 평가 과정이 인지와 정서간의 관계를 설명해 줄 수 있는 내용이 될 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 아울러 기본이 되는 도형의 형태로부터 감성의 차이가 있음을 확인함으로써 제품의 물리적 디자인에 대한 가이드라인을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이라 예상된다. 특히 각성 상태가 인지적 수행에 중요한 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 사실로부터 학습도구에서의 도형의 효과적인 사용을 제안하고자 한다.

Music Therapists' Perceptions on Professionalism (직업전문성에 대한 음악치료사의 인식)

  • This study investigated how music therapists perceive the professionalism of the profession. A total of 98 certified music therapists completed the online survey for a 46.7% response rate, and 78 questionnaires were included in the analysis after excluding incomplete responses. The results of this study demonstrated that music therapists show a high level of standards for music therapy professionalism in general. Meanwhile, the respondents gave their lowest rating on the perception of their occupation as a social service addressing the needs of society. The majority of respondents rated the level of their professionalism as high and they tended to identify individual competency as the most important factor. Also, there were significant differences in perceived professionalism depending on the length of clinical practice and level of education. These results indicate that the quality of training may contribute to a high level of perception on professionalism. Also, lower levels of perception on social aspects of the professionalism support the need for continuing education to broaden the understanding of professionalism. Given the importance of professionalism in enhancing the quality of care for clients and expanding the profession, further studies were suggested to increase understanding of the music therapy professionalism and propose strategies for maintaining the professionalism of music therapists.

Criticism on Cho Ji-hoon's Recognition of Han Yong-un (조지훈의 한용운 인식방법 비판)

  • Cho Ji-hoon was a leading figure on the discussion of recognition on Han Yong-un, particularly the post-liberation period. During the Japanese colonial era, he addressed Han Yong-un as the representative of national poet, and evaluated Han's poems as the models of rebellious nationalistic poetry. Such evaluation by Cho set the precedent of basic perspectives and methodologies on how to recognize Han Yong-un in the present day. This paper analyzes three studies on Han Yong-un, conducted by Cho ji-hoon. We also examine how Cho created his logic of recognizing Han as a national poet, and his poems as nationalistic poetry. Accordingly, this paper has separated recognitions on poet studies and work studies, and further explored how each recognition has consistency with Cho ji-hoon's historical and literary perception. As a result, the following has been concluded: the basis of Cho ji-hoon's recognition on the life and works of Han Yong-un was premised on Cho's understanding of the world from a standpoint of history of ideas, the concept of nation was regarded as an absolute value that binds disparate ideas together, and the combination of nationalism and poetry has been expressed through the logic of nationalistic poetry and the notion which equalizes the poet to a classical scholar. It was further concluded that such equalizing logic contains some logical contradictions derived from integration between universal rights and national sovereignty, and nation and Buddhism. Therefore, it can be said that other possible interpretations on the role of a poet were not fully discussed, but remain bounded. Last but not the least, this paper critically tries to perceive Cho's recognition on Han Yong-un, and accentuates the necessity of new interpretations of Han's poems, apart from those based on nationalism.

Subjectivity study on the perception types of body shape in the pregnant women

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the subjective evaluation and the characteristics of each type of maternal self-awareness. It was to provide the basic data necessary for the development of clothing that can improve the satisfaction of the body shape of pregnant women. This study was conducted with Q methodology, and was performed for pregnant women over 6 months. Analysis was done with QUANL program. The recognition types of body shape of pregnant women was analyzed as three types: thin limbs and central hemispherical abdominal body shape, under abdomen protruding body shape, and thick upper arm and central abdomen protruding body shape. The thin limbs and central hemispherical abdominal body shape were considered to be normal, with the lowest BMI index before pregnancy. And the limbs were thin and the other parts were not overweight, but recognized that only the belly came out. The under abdomen protruding body shape was overweight with the highest BMI index before pregnancy. In addition to the circumference of the chest and hips, the body was gaining weight and was perceived to have a belly drooping down. The thick upper arm and central abdomen protruding body shape recognized that the middle part of the abdomen protruded like the first type, but it was different from the first type because the upper arm was thickened. In the future study, it would be a meaningful study to compare and analyze the difference with the recognition body of this study through analyzing the actual body shape of pregnant women.

Implementation of an Artificial Odour Recognition System with Unsupervised Clustering Methods (Unsupervised clustering 방법을 갖는 인공 냄새인식 시스템의 구현)

  • We have been designed and constructed an artificial odour recognition system(electronic nose system) using metal oxide type sensor array for recognizing and analyzing various odours. We proposed an unsupervised clustering method based on Euclidean distances in order for human observer to examine easily multi-dimensional data, which has been measured from an array of sensors. This is a combination of Principal Components Analysis(PCA) used as a starting point for Sammom Mapping Method(SMM). No prior assumptions are made of the classes in which odour belong, and the error due to dimensional reduction at the PCA can be minimized without the disadvantages of rotation of clusters when the order of data sets in a data base was changed in the SMM. An artificial odour recognition system with the proposed unsupervised clustering method was applied to assessment of odour differences of Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) and Korean whiskies respectively, and demonstrated the best performances throughout the experimental trails.

Secondary School Home Economics Teachers´ Educational Needs Analysis on Teaching Competency (중등학교 가정과 교사의 교수 능력에 관한 교육 요구 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to general needs and identify the educational needs for teaching competency of home economics teachers. based on their perception on teaching competency revealed in Previous studies. Data were collected from 1,104 schools selected by stratified sampling. based on school district, ranking and size. The 616 items of survey materials were collected from 417 schools and the levels of importance and performance were measured on Likert scale with 7- and 5- points, respectively. The analysis reveled that the educational needs for improving teaching competency were high in the following three areas out of seven areas. 1) interfacing ability with the local community and diverse human resources. 2) ability managing space and materials for learning 3) ability diversifying lesson development and evaluation ability. In addition. diversifying and professionalizing present development program for home economics teachers made higher score than improving education program for home economics teachers. These two needs of teachers showed significant differences according to their educational experiences and foundation types of their schools.

  • This study is a basic study of the stone cultural landscape resources of Jeju Island with the value of world heritage. It has the ultimate purpose of providing basic resources for the advantages of various Jeju local resources and future conservation and management. Literature research and field survey were conducted to derive the landscape characteristics of Jeju stone cultural resources. and Research for recognition of stone cultural resources and image analysis were performed in parallel. Accordingly I would like to consider the recognition of the Jeju stone cultural landscape held by Korean and Chinese. As a result of the research, Stone is a typical local resource in Jeju, and the greatest feature of the stone was its natural nature. and In the image of the cultural resources of stone, he highly appreciated the image of "Harmonious", "Attractive" and "Unaffected". Recognized Field walls as "Beautiful" and Dolhareubang as "Familiar". And the most preferred stone cultural resources in Korea and China are surveyed in order of Field walls and Dolhareubang, and you can see that there is a difference between them in the evaluation.
