Concentration estimation of gas mixtures using a tin oxide gas sensor and fuzzy ART (반도체식 가스센서와 퍼지 ART를 이용한 혼합가스의 농도 추정)

  • A fuzzy ARTMAP neural network and a fuzzy ART neural network are proposed to identify $H_2S,\;NH_3$, and their mixtures and to estimate their concentrations, respectively. Features are extracted from a tin oxide gas sensor operated in a thermal modulation plan. After dimensions of the features are reduced by a preprocessing scheme, the features are fed into the proposed fuzzy neural networks. By computer simulations, the proposed method is shown to be fast in learning and stable in concentration estimating compared with other methods.

  • In this paper addresses the low-level behavior of fuzzy control and the high-level behavior selector for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) based on a Fuzzy Artificial Immune Network. The sensing information that comes from ultrasonic sensors is the antigen it, and stimulates antibodies. There are many possible combinations of actions between action-patterns and external situations. The question is how to handle the situations to decide the proper action. We propose a fuzzy artificial immune network to solve the above problem. and the computer simulation for an AMR action selector shows the usefulness of the proposed action selector.

  • Due to the increasing use of very large databases, mining useful information and implicit knowledge from databases is evolving. However, most conventional data mining algorithms identify the relationship among features using binary values (TRUE/FALSE or 0/1) and find simple If-THEN rules at a single concept level. Therefore, implicit knowledge and causal relationships among features are commonly seen in real-world database and applications. In this paper, we thus introduce the mechanism of mining fuzzy association rules and constructing causal knowledge base form database. Acausal knowledge base construction algorithm based on Fuzzy Cognitive Map(FCM) and Srikant and Agrawal's association rule extraction method were proposed for extracting implicit causal knowledge from database. Fuzzy association rules are well suited for the thinking of human subjects and will help to increase the flexibility for supporting users in making decisions or designing the fuzzy systems. It integrates fuzzy set concept and causal knowledge-based data mining technologies to achieve this purpose. The proposed mechanism consists of three phases: First, adaptation of the fuzzy membership function to the database. Second, extraction of the fuzzy association rules using fuzzy input values. Third, building the causal knowledge base. A credit example is presented to illustrate a detailed process for finding the fuzzy association rules from a specified database, demonstration the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • Fuzzy cognitive map(FCM) has long been used as an effective way of constructing the human's decision making process explicitly. By taking advantage of this feature, FCM has been extensively used in providing what-if solutions to a wide variety of business decision making problems. In contrast, the goal-seeking analysis mechanism by using the FCM is rarely observed in literature, which remains a research void in the fields of FCM. In this sense, this study proposes a new type of the FCM-based goal-seeking analysis which is based on utilizing the genetic algorithm. Its main recipe lies in the fact that the what-if analysis as well as goal-seeking analysis are enabled very effectively by incorporating the genetic algorithm into the FCM-driven inference process. To prove the empirical validity of the proposed approach, valid questionnaires were gathered from a number of experts on software sales, and analyzed statistically. Results showed that the proposed approach is robust and significant.

Navigational Path Detection Using Fuzzy Binarization and Hough Transform (퍼지 이진화와 허프 변환을 이용한 주행 경로 검출)

  • In conventional methods for car navigational path detection using Hough transform, navigational path deviation of a car is decided in car navigational images with simple background. But in case of car navigational images having complex background with obstacles on the road, shadows, other cars, and so on, it is very difficult to detect navigational path because these obstacles obstruct correct detection of car navigational path. In this paper, I proposed an effective navigational path detection method having better performance than conventional navigational path detection methods using Hough transform only, and fuzzy binarization method and Canny mask are applied in the proposed method for the better performance. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, I experimented with 20 car navigational images and verified the proposed method is more effective for detection of navigational path.

  • Localization is one of the fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) that forms the basis for many location-aware applications. Localization in WSNs is to determine the position of node based on the known positions of several nodes. Most of previous localization method use triangulation or multilateration based on the angle of arrival (AOA) or distance measurements. In this paper, we propose an enhanced centroid localization method based on edge weights of adjacent nodes using fuzzy modeling and genetic algorithm when node connectivities are known. The simulation results shows that our proposed centroid method is more accurate than the simple centroid method using connectivity only.

  • This paper proposes an AVI system which recognizes the license plate and the driver's face simultaneously using passive AVI techniques. For this, firstly, the pro-processing algorithm independent of the environment is proposed and region extraction of the car number plate and the driver's face is described. Secondly, characters are separated and recognition parameters are extracted from target regions. Thirdly, template matching of car number plate is performed and the fuzzy relation matrix of driver face is made for the final recognition processes. The merits of the proposed system are following : Pre-processing is accomplished regardless of the environment. The application areas of conventional AVI system can be expanded in the content that the driver's face is also recognized in the proposed system compared with only the number plast is recognized in the existing systems.

  • The purpose of this paper is to classify the types of input characters,printed Hangul characters,using Maximum Run Length Projection(MRLP)that is used to extract features of input character.Because the number of Hangul characters is large and its structure is complex,there exists close similarities among characters.This paper,therefore,tried to increment the type classification rate using fuzzy resoning.The Maximum Run Length Projection is very immune to noise,and also useful to extracting the demanding information efficiently.In a test case with the most frequently use 917 printed Hangul characters,it achieved 98.58%correct classification rate.

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 기동을 하는 기동표적의 추정된 잡음을 분석하여 표적의 기동패턴을 분석하는 알고리즘을 제시하고자 한다. 기동표적의 추정위치와 측정치에서 발생하는 잡음을 가속도와 순수 잡음으로 분리하고 분리된 성분을 분석하여 표적의 기동 패턴을 인식하고 동시에 추적을 실시하는 알고리즘을 구성한다. 잡음의 분리는 퍼지 클러스터링(FCM : Fuzzy C-means Clustering) 기법을 이용하여 적절한 추정값을 이용한다. 추정된 표적의 속도와 가속도, 잡음을 재 구성하여 기동표적의 기동패턴을 분석하고, 동시에 추적을 실시한다. 위의 과정을 통해 가속도를 분리한 후 비선형성을 지닌 기동표적의 기동패턴을 선형화 하여 칼만필터를 이용 잡음을 분리하고 가속도를 다시 보상하여 추적 알로리즘을 구성한다. 그리고 제안된 알고리즘의 수행 가능성을 보여 주기 위하여 몇 가지 예를 제시하였다.
