Analysis of FRP-Confined Concrete According to Lateral Strain History (횡변형률 이력에 근거한 FRP-구속 콘크리트의 해석)

  • The proposed method, capable of predicting various stress-strain responses in axially loaded concrete confined with FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymers) composites in a rational manner, is based on the fact that the volumetric expansion due to progressive microcracking in mechanically loaded concrete is an important measure of the extent of damage in the material microstructure. The elastic modulus expressed as a function of area strain and concrete porosity, the energy-balance equation relating the dilating concrete to the confining device interactively, the varying confining pressure, and an incremental calculation algorithm are included in the solution procedure. This procedure enables the evaluation of lateral strains consecutively according to the related mechanical model and the energy-balance equation, rather than using an empirically derived equation for Poisson's ratio or dilation rate as in other analytical methods.

  • A liquid nitrogen engine is a highly clean power engine, which does not emit any hazardous substances in its fumes. Additionally, it has an advantage over electric vehicles, as its energy density is larger than that of a battery. The use of an existing liquid nitrogen engine is typically limited to the reciprocation type. In this study, the concept of a nitrogen engine equipped with a scroll expander is introduced. The engine's efficiency was shown to increase when the scroll expander was utilized in the engine, while also adding to the simplification of the structure. Therefore, compared to the existing reciprocation-type engine, the engine with the scroll expander has the potential to be both technically and economically more competitive. In this study, the performance of a liquid nitrogen engine equipped with a scroll expander was analyzed while altering the injection pressure profile of liquid nitrogen.

Study on Sebsea Pipeline Thermal Expansion (해저송유관의 열팽창 고찰)

  • Nearshore and offshore pipelines are often applied to carry oil, gas, water and combined products. The thermal and pressure gradients of the fluid inside pipeline cause pipeline expansion. This expansion produces stress to connecting structures with pipeline. Should this stress exceeds the yield strength of connecting components or the allowable displacement of the system, a damage can occur. As most pipelines contain hazardous and toxic fluids, the damage usually leads to fatal accidents involving great economic loss as well. Even subsea pipelines can be easily applied to transport liquid type fluid without time and space constraint, they should be designed and maintained carefully to be functional safely during design lifetime. In this paper, various theories estimating pipeline thermal expansion are investigated and the effects of pipe components to expansion are studied.

Experimental Study on Tension-Hardening and Softening Characteristics in Reinforced Mortar with CSA Expansion Agent (CSA 팽창재를 혼입한 철근보강 모르타르의 인장 경화-연화 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Expansion agent is a very effective admixture for prevention of cracking due to autogenous/drying shrinkage and this can induce internal chemical prestress to embedded reinforcement. In this paper, tension-softening and hardening in cement mortar with steel and CSA expansion agent are experimentally evaluated. Cement mortar with steel reinforcement is prepared and tensile strength test is performed for evaluation of cracking and tensile behavior. In spite of slightly reduced strength and elasticity in CSA mortar, significantly increased tension-hardening behavior is evaluated in CSA mortar with induced chemical prestress. Furthermore previous tension softening models are compared with the test results and improvement are proposed.

  • 산화비스무트는 리튬이온과의 반응에서 현재 상용화된 그래파이트보다 높은 이론용량을 가지고 있으나, 리튬이온과의 반응에서 비교적 큰 부피팽창 특성을 가져 리튬이차전지의 음극재로서 상용화가 어려운 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는, 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 양극산화법을 통해 충 방전시 부피팽창 변화가 매우 적은 타이타니아 나노튜브를 제조한 후, 그 위에 스프레이 방법으로 산화비스무트를 코팅하여 두 물질의 복함체를 만듦으로써 용량과 구조적 안정성을 향상시키는 방법을 소개한다. 음극재의 구조적 특성은 고분해능 주사전자현미경 (HR-SEM), 고분해능 엑스선 회절분석기(XRD)를 통해 조사하였으며, 전기화학 임피던스 분광법 (EIS), 순환전류법 (CV), 충 방전 싸이클 분석을 통해 리튬이차전지의 작동원리와 보다 향상된 성능을 규명하였다.

Fine Structure of Suxtaglomerular Cells in Streptozotocin-treated Normal and Genetically Diabetic KK Mice (Streptozotocin이 정상 ICR 생쥐 및 유전성 당뇨병을 가진 KK생쥐 사구체곁세포의 미세구조에 미치는 영향)

  • 당뇨병유발제인 streptozotocin이 생쥐 신장 사구체곁세포의 미세구조에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 알아보고자 일반계통인 ICR생쥐와 유전성 당뇨병계통인 KK생쥐에 streptozotocin을 투여하여 경시적으로 각 동물의 신장 사구체곁세포의 미세구조의 변화를 관찰하였다. Streptozotocin을 투여한 ICR생쥐의 사구체곁세포는 3일째부터 과립형질내세망의 미약한 팽창과 과립내에 대소 공포의 출현 및 용해소체가 간혹 관찰되었다. 그후 시간이 지남에 따라 더욱 심하여 특히 2주 및 4주에서는 과립형질내세망의 팽창, 사립체, 골지장치 및 리보소곤 등이 소수 출현하였는데 비해 대소 용해소체는 많이 관찰되었으며 심한 탈과립으로 인해 세포질내 과립의 면적이 현저히 감소되었다. 그러나 KK생쥐의 실험군에서는 전 실험군에 걸쳐 퇴행성변화가 적었으며 ICR 생쥐 실험군에 비해 그 영향이 훨씬 적었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 보면 정상 ICR생쥐에 streptozotocin을 투여하자 되면 ICR생쥐 사구체곁세포에서 과립의 유의한 감소 및 세포내 미세구조의 퇴행성변화가 뚜렷한데 비해 KK생쥐 실험군에서는 ICR생쥐 실험군에 비해 손상을 적게 받았는데 이는 KK생쥐가 갖고 있는 당뇨병에 대한 내성에 의해 영향을 적게 미치는 것이 아닌가 추측된다.

Effect of Hydration on Swelling Properties and Shear Strength Behavior of MgO-sand Mixture (수화 반응에 따른 MgO-모래 혼합물의 팽창 특성 및 전단 거동 변화)

  • Swelling properties and shear strength behavior of MgO-Sand mixtures with hydration procese of MgO are compared according to different MgO contents (WMgO/WTotal=0, 30, 50, 70, 100%) in this study. The specimens are prepared by mixing with crushed MgO refractory bricks and silica sand. After hydration, the particle size and the specific gravity of MgO were decreases. Through microstructure observation and X-ray diffraction analysis, it is confirmed that MgO changes from the cubic structure of Periclase to the hexagonal cubic structure of Brucite after hydration. As the MgO content increases, both swelling rate and swelling pressure of the mixtures increase. WMgO/WTotal=30% specimen shows relatively low swelling pressure and swelling rate because produced Mg(OH)2 mainly fills the pores between sand particles. However, in the case of MgO more than 50%, swelling pressure and swelling rate increase significantly because Mg(OH)2 fills the pores of sand particles at first and then either pushes out sand particles or Mg(OH)2 particles after filling the pores. As a result of the direct shear test, before hydration, the mixtures show a dilative behavior on high MgO contents and a contractive behavior on low MgO contents. However, after hydration, the behavior of all mixtures changes to contractive behavior. The threshold fraction of fine (i.e., Mg(OH)2) contents of the hydrated MgO-Sand mixtures reveals approximately 60% compared with normalized shear strength.

  • In the design of injection molds, the temperature distribution and deformation of the mold is one of the most important parameters that affect the flow characteristics, flash generation, and surface appearance, etc. Plastic injection analyses have been carried out to predict the temperature distribution of the mold and the pressure distribution on the cavity surface. As the input loads, we transfer the temperature and pressure results to the structural analysis. We compare the structural analysis results with the thermal expansion effect using the actual flash and step size of a smartphone cover part. To reduce the flash problem, we proposed a new mold design, and verified the results by performing simulations.
