Experimental Study on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Ducted Fan for a Small UAV (소형 무인기 추진용 덕티드 팬의 공력특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The experimental analysis on a ducted fan for the propulsion system of a small UAV were performed. To investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of the ducted fan, flow fields at inlet and outlet were measured using a hot-wire anemometry. Thrusts were measured with the six-component balance with due regard to the cross wind. To reproduce the cross wind effect, the ducted fan was aligned to $90^{\circ}$ rotated direction against flow direction in the wind tunnel. In this paper, the variation of the flow fields and thrust according to the cross wind were analyzed.

  • 저소음 팬의 설계는 팬 성능의 저감 없이 이루어져야 한다. 마라서 저소음 팬 설계는 기본적으로 다분야간 설계 최적화 또는 다목적 설계 최적화의 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 요구를 수행하기 위해 반응면 기법을 저소음 축류 팬 설계에 적용하여 보았다. 또한 이러한 설계 단계에서 필요한 수백가지 시험 결과를 효과적으로 구하기 위해 효율적인 유동 해석 툴과 소음 해석 툴을 개발하여 적용시켰다. (중략)

  • In this paper, the performance analysis is experimentally carried out in order to select the best cooling fan and shroud considering both cooling performance and noise reduction. 4 cooling fans have been tested in the fan tester and the real excavator. In order to obtain the performance of the cooling fans, flow capacity has been estimated by measuring flow velocity using a hot wire anemometer, and noise radiation has been also measured to estimate the fan noise. Characteristics of a box-type and a streamlined shroud have been examined by changing the immersion depth of cooling fans. Based upon the results, the best cooling fan is selected. Finally, the criterion to select the best cooling fan has been set up.

  • The dynamic characteristics of a ducted fan in hovering condition were investigated. The section properties of the fan blade were calculated, and a simulation model was developed according to the rotor system components. Dynamic analyses were conducted relative to the rotational speed and the collective pitch. The proposed ducted fan system showed less aero-elastic instability within the designated operating ranges. To verify the analytical approach, a rotating test stand of the ducted fan was set up. A functional test of the assembly was carried out to determine the kinematics and interference between components. The non-rotating and rotating normal frequencies were measured by excitation of the collective pitch using hydraulic actuators. The results indicated a correlation between the test equipment and the simulation model.

  • Recently, there has been a growing global interest in environmental conservation, and the field of electric power equipment has been working to become more environment-friendly. Accordingly, the low noise cooling fan of power transformers was developed through the improvement of blade shape. These are expected to apply to existing power transformers and low noise transformers. It is essential for low noise fan to possess good cooling performance as well as low audible noises. But, there was not analysis on the audible noise level and the cooling performance for low noise cooling fans until present. In this paper, we measure the audible noise level and the flow rate of low noise cooling fans to inspect the performance, Also, we confirmed that the low noise cooling fan is available to apply to power transformers through temperature rise tests of power transformers.

  • 저소음 팬의 설계는 팬 성능의 저감 없이 이루어져야 한다. 따라서 저소음 팬 설계는 기본적으로 다분야간 설계 최적화 또는 다목적 설계 최적화의 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 요구를 수행하기 위해 반응면 기법을 저소음 축류 팬 설계에 적용하여 보았다. 또한 이러한 설계 단계에서 필요한 수백가지 시험 결과를 효과적으로 구하기 위해 효율적인 유동 해석 툴과 소음 해석 툴을 개발하여 적용시켰다. 마지막으로 이렇게 설계된 팬을 실제 크기로 제작 측정 비교 분석하여 적용된 기법을 검증하며 문제점에 대해 고찰해 보았다.

  • Wind tunnel test for a small scale electric ducted fan with a 104mm diameter was conducted to analyze the aerodynamic characteristics when it was used as a propulsion system of tilt-propeller UAV. Experimental conditions were derived from flight conditions of a sub-scaled OPPAV. Forces and moments of the ducted fan model were measured by a 6-axis balance and 3-dimensional wake vectors which could induce an aerodynamic influence in the vehicle were measured by 5-hole probes. Thrust and torque on hover and cruise conditions were measured and analyzed to drive out the operating conditions when it was applied in the sub-scaled OPPAV. On transition conditions, thrust keep its value with tilt angle variation below 40° and increase after that. But, sideforce increase constantly until 75°. The maximum axial velocity in the wake on hover and cruise conditions was around 60m/s and tangential velocity was around 12m/s. The position of the maximum axial velocity and vortex center move off the fan rotation center line as the tilt angle increases.

  • This study aims to improve the flow and noise performances of an axial-flow fan for cooling the machine room in a refrigerator by using airfoil-cascade analysis and surface ridge shape. First, the experimental evaluations using a fan performance tester and an anechoic chamber are performed to analyze the flow and noise performances of the existing fan system. Then, the corresponding flow and noise performances are numerically assessed using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and the Ffowcs-Williams and Hawkings (FW-H) equation, and the validity of numerical results are confirmed through their comparisons with the experimental results. The analysis for the flow of a cascade of airfoils constructed from the existing fan blades is performed, and the pitch angles for the maximum lift-to-drag ratio are determined. The improved flow performance of the new fan applied with the optimum pitch angles is confirmed. Then, the fan blades with surface ridges on their pressure sides are devised, and the reduction of aerodynamic noise of the ridged fan is numerically confirmed. Finally, the prototype of the final fan model is manufactured, and improvements in the flow and noise performances of the prototype are experimentally confirmed.

  • 세계가 점차적으로 "전화(電化)"됨에 따라 전기 에너지의 효과적인 분배와 사용이 급격히 중요하게 되었다. 일반 도체를 통한 전류의 흐름은 도체의 저항에 의해 줄열을 발생시켜 전기 에너지의 손실을 일으키고 결국은 에너지와 경제적 자원의 낭비를 초래하게 된다. 초전도체의 저항은 직류 전류에서는 0, 교류 전류에서는 거의 0이기 때문에 초전도체를 이용하면 전력 소자 및 기기의 부피와 무게를 현저히 줄일 수 있는 반면에 모든 전기 시스템의 효율을 향상시킬 수 있고, 에너지 사용의 절감에 따라 환경 문제에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 사고 전류 제한기의 설계에 있어서, 권선형태에 따른 솔레노이드 마그네트와 팬케이크 마그네트를 설계, 제작하여 자장 특성 및 한류 특성을 비교 하였다. 2세대 고온 초전도 선재로 불리는 YBCO 박막형 초전도 선재를 이용하여 동작 전류 증대를 위한 다병렬 솔레노이드 마그네트와 다병렬 팬케이크 마그네트를 제작하였다. 이를 이용하여 440 V/ 630 A급 초전도 사고 전류 제한기와 2 kA 급 대전류 통전 사고 전류 제한 모듈을 설계, 제작하여 단락 특성 시험을 수행하였다. 한편, 자장 응용 기기에 적용 가능한 더블 팬케이크 마그네트를 제 2 세대 초전도선재를 이용하여 설계, 시작하였다. 2세대 선재는 1세대 선재에 비하여 20 T 이상의 외부 자장에 대한 특성이 우수하여 고자장 마그네트 시스템에 더욱 적합하다. 이에 초전도 마그네트 보호를 위한 상전도 영역 전파 실험을 수행하여 CC 선재의 안정도를 측정하였다. 또한 영구전류모드 운전과 플럭스 펌프를 통한 전류 충전에 대한 연구도 병행하였다.
