Packet Buffering and Relay Method for Reliable UDP based VLBI Data Transmission (신뢰성 있는 UDP 기반 VLBI 데이터 전송을 위한 패킷 버퍼링 및 중계 방안)

  • UDP is an unreliable data transmission protocol, in contrast to TCP, which implements reliable data delivery based on flow control and retransmission methods. However, the TCP operation algorithm for guaranteeing reliability is inefficient in improving transmission performance, and above all, there is no need to transmit data using the TCP method for fields that do not require perfect integrity. In this paper, we intend to discuss ways to improve the stability while maintaining the existing performance of UDP. To this end, a program applied with packet buffering and relaying techniques was developed, and the performance and stability of the experiment were verified.

Improving The Performance of Scalable Reliable Multicast over Wired and Wireless Networks using a Retransmission Function (재전송 기능을 이용한 유무선 통합망에서의 Scalable Reliable Multicast 성능 개선)

  • This paper presents a method to improve the performance of Scalable Multicast Protocol deployed in wired and wireless network by adding retransmission function on base stations. When using Scalable Multicast Protocol over wireless and wired networks, packet drops on the wireless link produce the initiation of retransmission request packets and the implosion of retransmission packets, which deteriorate the multicast session performance. The efficient reliable multicast mechanism in wireless networks utilizing the retransmission function on the base station is addressed in this paper. We explain the design of a retransmission function which improves the performance of Scalable Multicast Protocol sessions in wireless and wirednetwork. The main idea is to cache Scalable Multicast Protocol packets at the base station and perform local retransmissions across the wireless link. ARENA has been used to simulate and to get performance for reducing signaling overhead and processing delay through the comparison of the proposed function to the Scalable Multicast Protocol.

A Cooperative ARQ Scheme for Single-hop and Multi-hop Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks (단일-홉과 다중-홉 수중 음향 센서 네트워크에서의 효율적인 협력 재전송 기법)

  • We propose an efficient cooperative ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest) scheme for single-hop and multi-hop underwater acoustic communications, in which cooperative nodes are used to provide more reliable alternative paths for a specific source-to-destination connection. This alternative path has higher channel quality than that of the direct source-destination path. In addition, during a packet-relay through multiple hops, the typical acknowledgement (ACK) signal is replaced with overhearing data packet returned back from the next hop. The usage of overhearing as an ACK improves the system performance. In this paper, we evaluate the proposed scheme by comparing it with a conventional S&W ARQ in terms of throughput efficiency. Computer simulation results show that the proposed cooperative retransmission scheme can significantly improve the throughput by increasing the probability of successful retransmission.

Transmission status monitoring method for improving the performance of MPTCP in Bufferbloat environment (Bufferbloat 환경에서 MPTCP 성능 개선을 위한 전송 상태 모니터링 방법)

  • Multipath TCP (MPTCP) can be expected to provide improved network performance because it transmits data through multiple paths. However, Bufferbloat, which unexpectedly occurs in the transmission path, degrades not only the performance of the corresponding path but also the performance of other paths, so that the performance is worse than that of a single TCP. In this paper, we propose the transmission status monitoring method at the sender's MPTCP level and also HoL packets retransmission algorithm in order to solve the Bufferbloat problem. The proposed algorithm enables Bufferbloat detection by the sender side independently, and it can resolve the HoL blocking problem by identifying the HoL packet in the proposed transmission status monitoring buffer and retransmitting it to the normal path. Simulation results based on NS-3 show that the proposed algorithm achieves the improved throughput performance up to 22.8% compared to the existing MPTCP, and the average number of queued packets in the sender and receiver's buffers is decreased to 44.3% and 9.2%, respectively.

  • 패킷 재배치(packet reodering)는 전송한 패킷의 순서가 처음과 다르게 뒤섞여 수신지에 도착하는 현상을 의미한다. 패킷 재배치는 불필요한 재전송이나 불필요한 혼잡 제어를 수행하여 TCP의 성능을 저하시킨다. 패킷 재배치에 의한 TCP 성능 저하를 막기 위해 다양한 접근 방법이 소개되었다. TCP-DAD는 기존 TCP에서 3으로 고정된 중복 응답 임계값을 동적으로 조절하여, 잘못된 혼잡 제어를 예방하고 있다. 일반적으로 전송한 패킷의 수가 많을 때, 패킷 재배치를 경험할 확률이 높으며, 패킷 재배치에 의해 잘못된 혼잡 제어가 일어날 가능성 많다. 고속 네트워크 환경에서는 혼잡 윈도우 크기 변화의 폭이 매우 크다는 점을 고려할 때, 중복 응답 임계값을 조절하는 TCP-DAD는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 고속 네트워크 환경에서의 패킷 재배치 현상으로 인한 TCP 성능저하를 완화하기 위한 새로운 알고리즘 TCP-DT를 소개한다. 이는 중복 응답 수에 의존하지 않고 타이머를 통해 혼잡 제어를 수행하는 메커니즘 이다. 본 논문은 NS-2를 사용하여 고속 네트워크 환경에서의 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 TCP-DT의 성능 향상을 증명하였다.

Distance Ratio based Probabilistic Broadcasting Mechanism in Mobile Ad Hoc Network (모바일 애드 혹 네트워크에서이격 비율에 근거한 확률적 브로드캐스팅 기법)

  • As broadcasting in Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is the process that a node sends a packet to all other nodes in the network. it is used for routing protocols such as Ad hoc On demand Distance Vector (AODV) to disseminate control information for establishing the routes. In this paper, we propose Probabilistic Broadcasting mechanism based on Distance Ratio between sender and receive node in MANETs. The proposed approach is based on the combination of probability and distance based approach. A mobile node receiving broadcast packets determines the probability of rebroadcasting considering distance ratio from sender. The distance ratio of a node is calculated by the distance from sender and the length of radio field strength. As a node with high distance ratio is located far away from sender, rebroadcast probability is set to high value. On contrary, the low rebroadcast probability is set for a node with low distance ratio which is close to sender. So it reduces packets transmission caused by the early die-out of rebroadcast packets. Compared with the simple flooding and fixed probabilistic flooding by simulation, our approach shows better performances results. Proposed algorithm can reduce the rebroadcast packet delivery more than 30% without scanting reachability, where as it shows up to 96% reachability compared with flooding.

A re-route method for reliable data transport in Ad Hoc Networks (Ad Hoc 망에서 신뢰성 있는 데이터 전송을 위한 경로 재설정 기법)

  • An ad hoc network is infra(Base Sstation or Access Point) free wireless mobile communication technology. Mobile nodes function as routers and servers in ad hoc networks. Many routing protocols for ad hoc network have been proposed. If any route is broken owing to moving node, source must repair broken route again. But route repair technology after route collapses is not suitable to transmit real-time data packet for QoS guarantee. So this paper presents route repair technology that prevents route from breaking. If intermediate node moves to critical section, the node issues handoff packet and sends the packet to the next node. After next node receives handoff packet, the node broadcasts route request packet to the previous node for intermediate node. Finally, even if intermediate node moves out of the routing region, the source can continuously transmit data packets to the destination through the new path.

  • WBAN(Wireless body area network)에서 사용되는 저 출력 센서 디바이스는 상당한 패킷 손실률을 발생시키며 데이터의 신뢰성을 떨어뜨리는 원인이 된다. 기존의 IEEE 802.15.4 MAC 프로토콜은 데이터 오류 발생 시 수신한 전체 데이터를 재전송하기 때문에 불필요한 에너지 소모와 오버헤드가 발생된다. 특히 WBAN 환경에서 인체 내부에 이식되는 디바이스의 경우 배터리 교체의 어려움과 초 저전력을 요구하기 때문에 노드의 수명 유지를 위해 사용되는 전력 소모량도 중대한 문제가 되고 있으며, 전체 데이터를 재전송하는 기존의 방식에서 발생하는 에너지 소모는 노드의 수명을 단축시키는 원인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 저전력과 신뢰성을 요구하는 WBAN 환경에서 수신 오류율 변화에 따른 데이터 동적 블록화 기법을 사용하여 재전송 데이터의 크기를 줄인다.

  • IMT-2000에서 제공하고자 하는 인터넷 서비스나 멀티미디어 서비스를 위하여 고속 패킷 전송이 이루어 져야 한다. 이러한 고속 패킷 서비스의 경우 불연속적인 데이터의 전송 및 비대칭적 데이터 트래픽의 특성으로 인하여 최근 CDMA/TDD 시스템에 대한 연구가 관심의 초점이 되고 있다. 따라서 본 고에서는 TDD 방식을 사용한 시스템의 특성을 고려하여, 전송 프레임의 구성 방식, 오류 발생 프레임의 재전송 방식, 채널 부호화 방식 등에 대하여 고찰하도록 한다.

  • WSN 환경은 센서 노드에서 싱크 노드로 센싱 정보의 전송시 특정 센서 노드나 심지어는 하나의 센서노드의 과부하로 인해 전체 센서 네트워크에 문제를 야기시키며, 과다한 센싱 정보 트래픽 발생 및 동적 토폴로지 변화에 따라 빈번한 데이터 손실이 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 VSDR(Visualization Sensing Data Routing)은 GML 기반 지도에 센서 노드 간 패킷 이동 경로와 전송되는 패킷 트래픽 전송량을 가시화한다. 또한, VSDR은 센서 네트워크에서 발생하는 센싱 정보들의 오버헤드와 센서 노드의 고장 발생 시 동적으로 데이터 경로들을 재설정 메커니즘을 제안한다.
