  • In recent times, more fashion brands have been seeking ways to use metaverse platforms, in which users can actively participate, as their new brand touch-points. This study aims to compare the brand experiences of the fashion brand Gentle Monster's offline store and its equivalent metaverse store. By changing the order of offline and metaverse visits, two groups participated in the field study that allowed them to experience directly the offline and metaverse stores. As a result of the analysis, the following findings were discovered: (1) In the overall experiential response, the frequency of sensory modules responding to new information was much higher than that of feeling experiences; (2) Experiential responses were more active in the offline store where the subjects could touch and use products directly rather than in the metaverse; (3) Among the four types of theme space, the experiential response was the most frequent in the product space; (4) The first group that visited the metaverse store before the offline store showed a more active experience than the second group that visited the offline store first. Finally, the results of this study show that metaverse brand stores in virtual space not only provide differentiated experiences beyond the spatiotemporal constraints of real space but can also be used as a strategic tool to make offline store experiences more meaningful and rich.

According to the space elements of the flagship store, the relationship of the brand image with the store image was investigated. As a result of analysis, customers felt the high correlation with the facade among the architectural elements of flagship store. This resulted in that customers consider that the black box of the facade represents originality of this fashion brand as a concept of spatial elements. As a practical implication, companies should understand that the architectural design is a very crucial component in designing the flagship store, as it gives customers their first impression about a brand. • Ever-evolving diverse communication tools bring numerous changes and improvements into the lives of humans. It is extremely important to provide visual information when communicating with consumers in the commercial arena because humans acquire over eighty percent of the information around them through sense of sight. One cannot compete with just sheer quality in today's world. Therefore, the applications of digital technology in the visual merchandising became crucial, for it can dramatically improve the market value. Among these applications is digital signage, a new media for esthetic experience. I strongly believe that this would be a new marketing tool for the brand's distinctive and unique publicity. This research has been conducted in order to find out how the fast-growing digital signage, defined by the contents, has become not just a mere digital video clip but an esthetic merchandising tool that can produce various effective marketing strategies; and to discover the characteristics that this application has brought out in the visual merchandising field of fashion stores' global SPA brands. Based on the market case study, analyses have been made for the digital signage types and strategies regarding the visual merchandising expressive elements and for the effects the digital signage application will have on publicity. According to the results, the digital signage has proven to be informative, diversely applicable and contributes greatly to the increase in sales and to the improvement of company and brand image. Thus, it is much more than just a media tool for advertisement.

  • Metaverse is a digitally generated world beyond the physical realm; many fashion brands are launching virtual stores in Metaverse. This study explores the cases of flagship stores of fashion brands in Metaverse to understand the peculiarity of Metaverse retailing. This study selected four flagship stores of fashion brands launched on ZEPETO, the largest Metaverse platform in Korea. The characteristics of Metaverse retailing used for case analysis were store (store credibility, servicescape, ease of use), product (content, demos, incentives), social factor (store personnel, store customers), and entertainment (events, games, free gifts). The results illustrate that a transaction system linked to reality could not be established due to technical limitations; it was difficult to obtain specific product information, such as the color, size, and fabric. However, all four fashion brands overwhelmed the traditional retail channels in terms of providing various spatial experiences by operating their virtual stores in global cities related to the heritage and identity of each brand. Furthermore, fashion brands can convey a sense of deviation and fantasy to consumers by delivering unique entertainment activities in Metaverse that they cannot easily provide in real life.

  • In the current age, as the importance of image is increased, brand images are strengthened, and various ways of expressing space are suggested considering the life styles of consumers. Recently, flagship stores are attempting various ways of expressing interior deigns and the flow of life culture, which can maximize the characteristics of image in a large, complex space. Centering on this trend, this study is conducted to explore an objective standard for the stylistic image characteristics reflecting the formative expression trend; to investigate various expression methods of images that are suggested by flagship stores; and to suggest the indicators of design. Based on this background, the formative trend is classified into the expression trends of minimalism and deconstructionism. An image evaluation test was conducted on the selected brand cases by applying the classification, and the following results are obtained from a comparative analysis. In this study, a stylistic analysis of expression methods is suggested from the stylistic image characteristics of each brand as well as from the reliability and validity of the expression trend. It can be concluded that such stylistic image characteristics are important factors in relation with fashion and architecture, and they can be used for differentiating design expression methods.
