  • This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of R&D tax credit for SMEs. We surveyed to collect the information on firm's financial statements and R&D tax credit during 2014-2016, and implemented fixed effect model, random effect model and panel negative binomial model. The results show that the effect of R&D tax credit is 5.3 times larger in terms of R&D expenditure and 4.3 times bigger in terms of number of researchers than that of R&D subsidy. In addition, the effect of tax credit on non-metropolitan area companies is higher than that in the metropolitan area. Based on these results, we suggests three ways to improve the R&D tax incentive system for SMEs; To convert unused R&D tax credit of the start-ups to tax points, to exempt the minimum tax rate on R&D expenditure in equipment, and to unify the operation of various R&D tax credit institution.

  • When the number of parameters in the time series model are diverse, it is hard to forecast because of the increasing error by a parameter estimation. If the homogeneity hypothesis which was obtained from the same model about severeal data for the time series is selected, it is easy to get the predictive value better. Nonlinear time-series panel data for each parameter for each time series, since there are so many parameters that are present, and the large number of parameters according to the parameter estimation error increases the accuracy of the forecast deteriorated. Panel present in the time series of multiple independent homogeneity is satisfied by a comprehensive time series to estimate and to test of the parameters. For studying about the homogeneity test for the m independent non-linear of the time series panel data, it needs to set the model and to make the normal conditions for the model, and to derive the homogeneity test statistic. Finally, it shows to obtain the limit distribution according to ${\chi}^2$ distribution. In actual analysis,, we can examine the result for the homogeneity test about nonlinear time series panel data which are 2 groups of stock price data.

  • This study estimates the price elasticity of residential water demand in Korea. For that, annual panel data from the year of 2010 to 2013 for 161 local water services is estimated by using panel quantile model. As a result, the price elasticities of residental water demand in Korea are estimated to be between -0.156 and -0.189 depending on its quantile. In addition, the study finds that the estimated elasticity of residential water demand by traditional conditional mean regression is relatively more influenced by high demand areas because the distribution of residental water demand in Korea is left-skewed.

  • Recently, urban shrinkage due to low birth rate and aging population and the decline of local cities are causing a new urban problem of empty houses. This study examines the distribution of vacant homes using spatial panel data collected from 2015 to 2019 at local administraitve districts and estimates the factors of vacant house occurrence using a spatial panel model considering spatio-temporal dependency. As a result, the spatio-temporal dependence of vacant houses was identified and it was estimated using spatial panel model not OLS model. Based on the spatial panel model, it was found that the most influential factor in the occurrence of vacant houses was the housing-related factor. This result shows that policy considerations for housing supply are necessary for the management of vacant housing as well as population movement and poor infrastructure.

  • The main purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of electricity import and export in 26 European Union countries using the Spatial durbin model(SDM). In particular, we would like to mainly explain it based on the amount of power generated by each energy source. Not just the usual way of constructing a weighting matrix based on contiguity, we adopt a weighting method based on the proportion of trade among countries with connected electricity systems. Moreover, the electricity systems of European countries are directly and indirectly connected, which is reflected in the weighting matrix. According to the results, nuclear power has a positive effect on exports and a negative effect on imports, and an increase in wind and solar power has a positive effect on both exports and imports by increasing power system instability. While Korea is unable to trade electricity due to geopolitical conditions, the results of this study are expected to provide implications for energy policies.

  • This study examines the effect of pollution abatement cost on net export of Korea's manufacturing industries based on Heckscher-Ohlin model. We used the panel data on manufacturing industries for 1993~2007. The main findings are as follows. First, it was found that the pollution abatement cost had a significant negative effect on net export of Korea's manufacturing industries. In particular, the effect was stood out after 1997 IMF crisis. Second, skill labor was found to be very important in determining trade pattern among variables related to factor intensities.

  • This research estimated the variation of high school students' academic achievement by using the second to the fourth wave KEEP(Korea Education and Employment Panel) data. We explored the effects of study on academic achievement in proportion to self-regulated learning hours(except for school work and private tutoring). Analysis variables were self-directed learning(study) hours throughout senior high school and 9 grade academic achievement. We conducted Latent Growth Model(LGM) using KEEP panel data and program LISREL 8.8. Results showed that there were significant effects of self-regulated learning hours on the variation of senior high school students' academic achievement. Therefore, this was considered to be useful tips in getting the relation between students' learning and academic achievement.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect the language development of infants. For the analysis, data of three years from the first year (2008) to the third year (2010) of the 'Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC)' were constructed and panel analysis was conducted. The subjects were 2,150 infants who participated in the questionnaire, and the language development of the infants was measured using the communication scores of the K-ASQ test provided by the Korean children's panel. In addition, the factors influencing the language development of infants derived from previous studies were introduced into the model. As a result of the analysis, it is shown that the fixed effect model with fixed individual error of the panel is suitable through the Hausman test. The higher the cognitive development level of the infant, the more positive parenting behavior of the infant, respectively. The conclusions and suggestions about the characteristics of the parents and the parents affecting language development were introduced.
