The Impact of Social Capital on the Quality of Life of Married Female Immigrants - the Mediating Effect of Empowerment - (여성결혼이민자의 사회자본이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향: 임파워먼트의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of the social capital among married female immigrant on their quality of life and the mediating effect of empowerment. The data were collected from 260 married female immigrants and SPSS Statistics 20.0 and AMOS 22.0 were utilized to analyze the data. The results showed that social capital had statistically significant relationship with empowerment and quality of life among married female immigrants. In addition, empowerment was a statistically significant mediator in the association of social capital and quality of life. Based on these findings, the implications for social welfare practice to improve social capital and empowerment of married female immigrants and recommendations for the further studies were suggested.

  • This study was intended to verify the parameter effects of empowerment in the effect of social support of the employees of youth training facilities on the quality of service. The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for improving the service quality of youth training facility workers. As a result of this study, first, social support and empowerment had a positive effect on service quality. Second, the partial mediating effect of empowerment can be confirmed. Based on the results of this study, the following suggestions were made. First, for the social support of the employees, the middle managers and facility managers of youth training facilities should use the Internet environment such as the Internet and smart phones. Second, in order to improve empowerment, support for information related to work, material support related to compensation, and evaluation support related to business processing should be provided. Third, to improve the empowerment of workers, it is necessary to augmented reality(AR), virtual reality(VR), and flip learning program using the Internet of Things environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mechanism through which Senior Center User's services satisfaction impacts quality of life. We were particularly interested in the mediating effect of empowering Senior Center users. bootstraping method based on structural equation modeling were used. The partial and full mediation model were compared and X2 difference test was conducted between the two models. The result showed that the mediating effect of empowering senior center user was statistically significant and accounted for the relationship between the senior center user's services satisfaction and quality of life. Empowering senior center user mediated fully the effect of senior center user's services satisfaction on quality of life. Practice and policy implications as well as further research topics were discussed to aid the search for highly effective interventions.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among health empowerment and health behavior compliance on quality of life and identify the factors that influence on quality of life in patients with coronary artery disease. Participants in this study were 180 patients with coronary artery disease in the Intervention of Cardiology of a general hospital in S city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS Win. 22.0 program. The result of the multiple regression indicates the health behavior compliance, gender, health empowerment and educational level predict 23.4%(F=5.17, p=.024) in quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to develop programs a health behavior compliance and health empowerment use specific strategies to improve quality of life for patients with coronary artery disease.

A Comparative Study on the Degree of Alcoholism Recovery, Quality of Life, Empowerment and Self-esteem Based on Different Abstinence Periods of Alcohol use Disorder (알코올 사용장애자의 단주기간에 따른 알코올의존 회복, 삶의 질, 임파워먼트, 자아존중감 비교 연구)

  • This study investigated the differences in sociodemographic variables, alcoholism recovery, quality of life, empowerment and self-esteem based on different abstinence periods of alcohol use disorder. The study population from seven different regions in nationwide were 207 individuals with alcohol use disorder who had been abstinent. According to previous studies, 207 individuals were classified into different abstinence periods: less than one year, more than one to five years, and more than five years. As a result, the sociodemographic variables affecting differences in groups were gender, age, marital status, and economic activity. In addition, the group that maintained abstinence from alcohol for more than one year showed significant differences in alcoholism recovery, quality of life, empowerment, and self-esteem than those that maintained abstinence from alcohol for less than one year. Regardless of abstinence periods, alcoholism recovery, quality of life, empowerment, and self-esteem showed significant positive correlations. Therefore, the results of this study identified the factors influencing long-term abstinence and effects and suggested the need for alcohol-dependent recovery programs or therapeutic interventions for individuals who abstained from alcohol use.

Convergence review of Factors related to Empowerment of Patients with Chronic Diseases in Korea (국내 만성질환자 임파워먼트 관련요인 고찰에 대한 융합연구)

  • The aim of this study was to review studies on factors related to empowerment of patient with chronic diseases in Korea. By a literature search of databases, a total of 14 quantitative studies published in both Korean and English between January 2011 and April 2020 were identified. All the studies used a cross-sectional design and the majority of the studies used regression analyses. In 4 (28.6%) studies adopted Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form (DES-SF) as the instrument to measure empowerment. The results confirm that self-care, social support, health literacy, and quality of life are associated with empowerment of patients with chronic diseases in Korea. This study will provide basic data with developing instruments and intervention programs of empowerment of patients with chronic diseases in Korea.

Empowerment Related Variables in Korean Clinical Nurses: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (임상 간호사의 임파워먼트 관련 요인에 대한 체계적 문헌고찰 및 메타분석)

  • This study was performed systematic review and meta-analysis for a comprehensive analysis of the empowerment related variables of clinical nurses in South Korea. Analysis were conducted in accordance with PRISMA guideline, and a total 71 papers were selected. Antecedent variables of empowerment were a total of 16 variables and 56 effect sizes, and showed the total effect size of 0.38 (95% CI: 0.31~0.44). Outcome variables empowerment were a total of 12 variables and 105 effect sizes, and the showed total effect size of 0.45 (95% CI: 0.41~0.48). This study showed the trends of studies and investigated the effect size of related variables objectively in the perspective of empowerment of Korean clinical nursing. This study has significance in that it presented the reliable evidence for the positive effect of empowerment on individuals, jobs, and organizations through reliable and valid research methodology.

The Effects of Early Childhood Teachers' Empowerment and Job Satisfaction on Their Teacher-Child Interactions (유아교사의 임파워먼트와 직무만족도가 교사-유아상호작용에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of early childhood teachers' empowerment and job satisfaction on their teacher-child interaction. The subjects were 550 early childhood teachers working for young children aged 3 to 5 at kindergartens and daycare centers in South Korea. The survey questionnaires were used to measure main variables. Pearson's correlation analysis and analysis of multiple regression were conducted to test research questions using the SPSS 26.0 Statistical Program. As the results, early childhood teachers' empowerment and job satisfaction were found to have the significantly positive correlation with their teacher-child interaction. In addition, early childhood teachers' empowerment and job satisfaction had significant effects on their level of teacher-child interaction.
