A Study on the Development of Stability Charts for Reinforced Embankments by Geotextile (Geotelrtile 보강사면의 안정도표개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the deterministic model to evaluate the two dimensional stability of geotextile-reinforced embankments on soft foundations. The potential failure surfaces in this study are assumed as the logarithmic spiral curves refracted at the boundary of layers. To facilitate the iterative calculations, we developed a program that determines the geotextile tensile force for an geoteztile-reinforced embankments. This program can be used for situations with a varying number of soil layers and soil types. A series of calculations have been made for a schematised situation. The results of these series are collected in stability charts, which are compared with those by circular potential failure surfaces. Using these charts in an early stage of the design provides a reasonable estimate of the stability of geotextile-reinforced embankments. In a later stage a more detailed calculation can be made by the developed programs.

  • The strength and load of structure are varied with the Passage of time, and become a process of probability. It is possible to estimate the reliability from the relation between strength and load. Considering the safety, It is reasonable to estimate allowable stress from the safety factor based on the reliability. In this study, the method to estimate probability of fracture, which is index of reliability for rail subjeict to long term fatigue load were examined. In estimation of reliablity it is meaningless to evaluate numerical value especially this difficult case estimating parameter of random variable. To overcome this problem, conventional design method estimating relative reliability were proposed. In this study the Cornell method were examined. The uncertainity of random variale, ie coefficient of variation which is the index of variation of strength and load were considered. The effect of uncertainity related to probability of fracture, and safety factor based on reliability were examined. The results of this study are followed. The reliability of weld metal were influenced by variation of strength more then load, and base metal were influenced by load. It is confirmed that the allowable stress range calculating with factor of safety based an reliability is conservative.

A Study on Estimation of Failure Probability of Allowable Stress Design using Reliability Analysis to the Bearing Capacity the Deep Water Depth Large-diameter Drilled Shaft (대수심 대구경 현장타설말뚝의 지지력에 대한 신뢰성 해석을 이용한 허용응력 설계의 파괴확률 평가 연구)

  • A Large-diameter drilled shaft of deep water depth composite foundation supporting a high rise pylon of the test designed super long span bridge was designed by allowable stress design method and failure probability through reliability analysis to bearing capacity was estimated. The allowable stress design results for the bearing capacity of a drilled shaft were analyzed by reliability analysis and the probability of failure shows 0.12 % in case of CFEM, 0.0002 % in case of Korea Highway Corporation criterion, and 0.003 % in case of structure foundation design criterion. In the allowable stress design, the bearing capacity of a large-diameter drilled shaft was obtained by applying to safety factor 3 and reliability analysis for the results was done. If the failure probability suggested by AASHTO(2007) specification is set to 0.02 %, the socketed length of a drilled shaft shows an increase of 25 % in CFEM, decrease of 60 % in KHCC, and decrease of 89 % in SFDC.

  • 최근 우리 주변에는 기계, 구조물의 고속화 및 대형화에 따른 충격하중의 발생빈도가 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 따라서 이와 같은 충격하중을 받는 기계 및 구조물의 안전성 및 신뢰성 확보를 위하여는 먼저 충격하중 특성을 고려한 내충격 설계기법의 확립이 필요하다. 특히 충격하중의 경우 종래의 파괴역학적 관점에서 주로 다루어 왔던 정적하중 및 피로하중 하에서의 재료거동 특성과 달리 응력파의 전파특성이 재료의 충격강도 및 균열발생, 전파특성에 큰 영향을 미치기 때문에 이를 고려한 역학적 검토가 필요하다. 한편 이와 같은 충격하중이 반복적으로 작용하는 충격피로의 경우 지금까지 많은 연구로 내피로 설계기법이 확립된 일반 피로 특성과 달리 아직 그 주요 메카니즘이 규명되지 않은 부분이 많아 이 부분에 대한 체계적인 연구가 국내에서도 요구된다.

Experimental Study of Modular Bridge Deck Made of GFRP Composite Materials (GFRP 복합재료를 이용한 조립식 교량 바닥판의 실험 연구)

  • A composite bridge deck system assembled from a modular profile with double-rectangular cell has been developed for highway bridges. This study is focused on the experimental characterization of flexure performance of pultruded GFRP deck under static loading. Several tests were conducted on single modules and adhesively bonded 2 and 5-modules. The specimen details such as dimensions, material properties and fiber architecture, and experimental set-up and testing procedure have been addressed. It is found that the presented GFRP composite modular deck is very efficient for use in bridges.

  • 현재 국내에서 사용하고 있는 교량구조물의 성능평가방법으로는 크게 공용하중에 대한 내하율을 구하기 위하여 허용응력개념이나 강도설계 개념을 적용한 내하력 평가 기법이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 위의 방법들은 일반적으로 공용연수의 경과에 따른 재료 및 구조적 성능의 손실과 여러 가지 하중 및 환경적 요인들의 불확실성으로 인하여 발생하는 손상 및 열화를 반영하기 어렵다. 그리고 제원 및 재료물성치의 불확실성에 대한 기존 설계 자료의 DB 부족으로 기존의 평가방법에서는 이러한 시간의 경과에 따른 성능저하를 정확히 산정할 수 없어 이론상의 값과 실제 구조물과의 차이로 인한 불확실성이 존재 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공용년수 경과에 따른 시설물의 재료 구조적인 성능 및 거동분석 수행, 신뢰성 해석 수행을 바탕으로 교량 안전성 평가의 합리성 및 현실성을 제고하며, 구조 신뢰성 해석을 수행함으로써 실제 구조물의 강도 한계상태에 대한 파괴확률을 산정하고 그에 대응하는 위험도를 평가함으로써 안전성 검토를 수행하였다.

  • Fail-safe design of machine elements or structural members is very aim of the whole mankind. Fracture occurs generally from cracks that exist originally or produced from flaws. The most important job we have to do is to make stopping or decreasing the crack growth rate. For fail-safe design variable thickness plates have been used as structural members in practical engineering services. In this paper, optimum design of CT type plate with varlng thickness is studied with the theoritical analysis. The theoritical analysis was based on the stress concentration and nominal stress analysis. From the study, the optimum design curve was determined for use of designing of such structures using the computer analysis program of optimum design.

Stability Analysis for Jointed Rock Slope Using Ubiquitous Joint Model (편재절리모델을 이용한 절리 암반 사면의 안정성 해석)

  • Limit equilibrium method is widely used for the stability analysis of soil slopes. In jointed rock slopes however, the failure of the slope is largely dependent upon the strength and deformability of the joints in the rock mass and quite often failure occurs along the joints. This paper describes the use of ubiquitous joint model for the stability analysis of the jointed rock slopes. This model is essentially an anisotropic elasto-plastic model and can simulate two sets of joint in arbitrary orientations. Validation of the developed with the factor of safety equal to unity was selected when the shape of the failure plane is assumed log spiral. Then the factor of safety of the rock slope having two perpendicular joint sets was calculated while rotating joint orientations. Rusults were compared with limit equilibrium solutions on soil slopes having equivalent soil properties when plane sliding was assumed. Developed model predicted the factor of safety of jointed rock slope in a reasonable accuracy when joint spacing is sufficiently small.

  • 항만 확장 시 기존의 매립 방식은 건설비용 및 환경 파괴 등의 문제가 발생함으로써, 부유체식 구조물을 이용한 해상 부두의 활용이 국내외에서 주목받고 있다. 이와 관련하여 본 연구에서는 선박의 계류안전성평가에 대한 개념을 정립하고 이를 부유체식 Container Yard에 적용하기 위한 자연환경, 선박 및 부두 모델링을 수행하였다. 본 연구 자료를 토대로 향후 부유체식 Container Yard에 접안한 선박의 환경외력 및 계류삭의 장력 평가, 방충재와 계선주에 작용하는 반력 및 견인력 평가, 부두의 운동에 따른 안전성을 파악하고, 해상 부두로서의 적용 가능성을 검토하여 안전한 부두의 설계 기준 및 활용 방안을 마련하고자 한다.

Quality Assessment of Hatchway Using QFD & FMEA (QFD와 FMEA를 이용한 화물창구의 품질 평가)

  • The quality of a product/system is getting more important concept nowadays. 'Performance', as one of the quality characteristics, means how well a product carries out its given functions and is the most adjacent characteristics to the customer satisfaction. To an engineer, however, who deals with large structures such as ships, 'Safety' is actually getting more important because of its direct relationship with failures of a product/system itself and human injuries when an accident occurs. In this study, therefore, we consider both performance and safety recognized the most important elements in dealing with structures and present a quality analysis method based on customer requirements by using QFD for performance analysis and FMEA for safety analysis respectively. Applying these methods to the hatchway of a bulk carrier, we could find 8 and 12 important parts based on performance and safety respectively. Among these, only 7 parts were pointed out commonly critical. From these, we can suggest that designers should pay more attention to these 7 parts and thus give a high priority of concerns to them when trying to improve the quality of system.
