Robust Face Recognition System using AAM and Gabor Feature Vectors (AAM과 가버 특징 벡터를 이용한 강인한 얼굴 인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a face recognition system using AAM and Gabor feature vectors. EBGM, which is prominent among face recognition algorithms employing Gabor feature vectors, requires localization of facial feature points where Gabor feature vectors are extracted. However, localization of facial feature points employed in EBGM is based on Gator jet similarity and is sensitive to initial points. Wrong localization of facial feature points affects face recognition rate. AAM is known to be successfully applied to localization of facial feature points. In this paper, we propose a facial feature point localization method which first roughly estimate facial feature points using AAM and refine facial feature points using Gabor jet similarity-based localization method with initial points set by the facial feature points estimated from AAM, and propose a face recognition system based on the proposed localization method. It is verified through experiments that the proposed face recognition system using the combined localization performs better than the conventional face recognition system using the Gabor similarity-based localization only like EBGM.

  • 영상에서 Edge는 영역의 경계를 표현하며. 특징으로는 픽셀 밝기의 불연속점을 나타낸다. 이러한 Edge를 찾아내는 Edge detection은 설러 가지 영상 처리 기법에서 유용하게 사용되고 있다. 현재까지 많은 알고리즘들이 제안되었으며. 이 논문에서는 이러한 알고리즘들에 대한 장단점을 파악하고, 미분 연산자를 이용한 Sobel, Prewitt. Roberts. Laplacian, 그리고 Canny 마스크를 이용한 윤곽선 검출방법과 Discrete Sing에ar Convolution (DSC) 알고리즘을 이용한 윤곽선 검출방법을 백색 가우시안 잡음 환경과 비 잡음 환경에서 비교해 보았다.

Ridge Feature Extraction of Fingerprint Using Sequential Labeling (순차적 레이블링을 이용한 지문 융선 특징 검출)

  • A novel fingerprint ridge feature extraction using sequential labeling of thinned fingerprint image is proposed, which is invariant to position translation, scaling, and rotation. the proposed algorithm labels ridges of thinned fingerprint image sequentially using vertical line that goes through fingerprint core point. Then, we extract a feature from each labeled ridge and the extraction process is based on the type fo the ridge and a minutiae ridge angle in the ridge. The feature extracted through this process enables us to find out the kind of various minutiae and minutiae angle. As a result of the experiment using two thinned fingerprint images, we finally confirm that proposed algorithm is not related to position translation, scaling, and rotation.

  • 본 논문에서는 카메라 영상으로부터 사각형 형태의 마커를 검출하고 인식하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 사각형 형태의 마커 검출을 위하여 입력 영상을 이진 영상으로 변환하고 객체들의 윤곽선을 추출한 다음에 윤곽선을 선분으로 근사화 한다. 근사화된 선분으로부터 기하학적 특징을 이용하여 사각형을 찾는다. 마커의 사각형 영역을 찾은 다음에는 워핑 기법을 이용하여 사각형 마커 영상으로부터 특징 벡터를 추출하고 표준 마커에 대한 특징 벡터와의 최소 거래법에 의해 마커의 종류를 인식한다. 인식 실험 결과 마커의 종류가 50개일 때에 최대 98%의 인식률을 얻을 수 있었다.

An Efficient Preprocessing Technique for Improving the Performance of the Crease Detection (지문 영상의 주름선 검출을 위한 효율적인 전처리 기법)

  • In this paper, We propose an highly efficient preprocessing technique for improving the performance of the crease extraction method, which can improve the accuracy of feature extraction within the fingerprint image. The proposed method applies the 1-dimensional directional slit for each pixel in fingerprint image. Once the direction of every pixel in crease candidate area is estimated, it is decomposed into different images depending on their direction. From the directional images, the crease clusters are estimated by utilizing the property of crease area. The proposed method finally extracts the crease from the crease clusters estimated from directional images.

  • Prostate is only an organ of men. To diagnose the disease of the prostate, generally transrectal ultrasound(TRUS) images are used. Detecting its boundary is a challenging and difficult task due to weak prostate boundaries, speckle noise and the short range of gray levels. In this paper a method for automatic prostate segmentation in TRUS images using Support Vector Machine(SVM) is presented. This method involves preprocessing, extracting Gabor feature, training, and prostate segmentation. The speckle reduction for preprocessing step has been achieved by using stick filter and top-hat transform has been implemented for smoothing. Gabor filter bank for extraction of rotation-invariant texture features has been implemented. SVM for training step has been used to get each feature of prostate and nonprostate. Finally, the boundary of prostate is extracted. A number of experiments are conducted to validate this method and results shows that the proposed algorithm extracted the prostate boundary with less than 10% relative to boundary provided manually by doctors.

Method of Human Detection using Edge Symmetry and Feature Vector (에지 대칭과 특징 벡터를 이용한 사람 검출 방법)

  • In this paper, it is proposed for algorithm to detect human efficiently using a edge symmetry and gradient directional characteristics in realtime by the feature extraction in a single input image. Proposed algorithm is composed of three stages, preprocessing, region partition of human candidates, verification of candidate regions. Here, preprocessing stage is strong the image regardless of the intensity and brightness of surrounding environment, also detects a contour with characteristics of human as considering the shape features size and the condition of human for characteristic of human. And stage for region partition of human candidates has separated the region with edge symmetry for human and size in the detected contour, also divided 1st candidates region with applying the adaboost algorithm. Finally, the candidate region verification stage makes excellent the performance for the false detection by verifying the candidate region using feature vector of a gradient for divided local area and classifier. The results of the simulations, which is applying the proposed algorithm, the processing speed of the proposed algorithms is improved approximately 1.7 times, also, the FNR(False Negative Rate) is confirmed to be better 3% than the conventional algorithm which is a single structure algorithm.

방사선동위원소를 이용한 밀도/수분함량 측정계기의 회로설계

  • 이 연구의 목적은 밀도측정 및 수분함량측정용 RI 계기의 개발에 있다. 방사성동위원소를 이용하여 성토시공의 현장다짐 밀도 및 수분함량 측정에 이용되곤 있는 RI 계기는 중성자 검출부분, 감마선 검출부분, 고전압 공급부분, 마이크로 컴퓨터 부분으로 크게 나눌 수 있다. 감마선을 검출하는 G-M 검출기는 그 특징으로 인해 방사선검출 전기회로가 간단하다. 그러나 열중성자를 검출하는 He-3 검출기는 검출기에서 발생하는 신호원이 매우 작아서 검출회로의 상호 간섭으로 인한 전기적 잡음이 발생한다 이 잡음을 제거하는 것이 He-3 중성자 검출기로 열중성자를 검출하는데 중요한 문제이다. 본 연구에서 제작하는 RI 계기는 원자력법에서 제한하는 방사능 이하를 (100$\mu$Ci 의 밀봉선원) 사용하므로 종래의 RI 계기에 비해 방사선의 검출수가 줄어든다. 이에 따라 검출기의 개수를 늘려서 방사선을 검출해야 한다. 또한 본 연구에서는 He-3검출기의 검출 스펙트럼을 분석하여 적정한 방사선 검출 측정영역을 결정하였다.

Fingerprint Matching Using Classify of Minutiae (특징점의 분류를 이용한 지문 정합방법)

  • 본 논문에서는 지문 인식을 하는데 있어서 특징점의 정보를 이용하여 지문을 정합하는 방법을 제안 하였다. 지문에는 중심점(core point), 삼각주(delta point), 분기점(bifurcation), 단점(ending point)들이 있는데, 본 논문에서는 먼저 poincare index를 이용하여 중심점을 검출한다. 검출된 중심점을 중심으로 하여 관심영역(ROI : region of interest)을 결정하여 영역내의 특징점들을 검출하여, 각 각 특징별로 분류한 다음 중심점과 특징점들과의 관계를 계산하여 지문 정합에 이용한다. 입력 받은 지문은 개개인 각각 양손 모두 10개의 손가락에서 센서의 누르기 압력을 다르게 하여 2번 입력 받아 사용하였다. 실험 결과 기존의 특징점 기반 알고리즘 보다 더 적은 영역에서 좀 더 정확하고 신뢰할 수 있는 지문 정합을 보여줌을 확인 하였다.

SIFT based Image Similarity Search using an Edge Image Pyramid and an Interesting Region Detection (윤곽선 이미지 피라미드와 관심영역 검출을 이용한 SIFT 기반 이미지 유사성 검색)

  • SIFT is popularly used in computer vision application such as object recognition, motion tracking, and 3D reconstruction among various shape descriptors. However, it is not easy to apply SIFT into the image similarity search as it is since it uses many high dimensional keypoint vectors. In this paper, we present a SIFT based image similarity search method using an edge image pyramid and an interesting region detection. The proposed method extracts keypoints, which is invariant to contrast, scale, and rotation of image, by using the edge image pyramid and removes many unnecessary keypoints from the image by using the hough transform. The proposed hough transform can detect objects of ellipse type so that it can be used to find interesting regions. Experimental results demonstrate that the retrieval performance of the proposed method is about 20% better than that of traditional SIFT in average recall.
