Study on Physical Properties of Domestic Species II: Sorption, Thermal, Electrical and Acoustic Properties of Pinus koraiensis and Larix kaempferi (국산재의 응용물성연구II: 잣나무 낙엽송의 수분흡착성 및 열적·전기적·음향적 성질)

  • A series of the studies on the applied physical properties of domestic species have been conducted last three years. Pinus koraiensis and Larix kaempferi were two of the three species examined for the first year. Because the same apparatus and experimental procedures were used for all species, their results can be easily comparable. The experiments for sorption property were conducted with 20- and 80-mesh wood powder and resulted in their EMCs and sorption isotherms at various RH conditions. The thermal conductivity and diffusivity, and electric resistance and volumetric electric resistivity were measured with a thermal-wire device and a high electric resistance meter. The differences in the thermal and electric properties between quarter- and flat-sawn specimens were observed, which were partially attributed to their anatomical differences. An acoustic measurement system was used to evaluate dynamic MOE and internal friction. This paper provides the useful fundamental data for designing a wood structure, correcting a portable resistance-type moisture meter, and acoustic properties of wood.

  • This experiment was conducted to clarify the effect of double layer mulching on reducing the labor required to weed control and Leaf sheath training of the garlic cultivation. Six mulching methods(non-mulching, transparent P.E., rice hull+transparent P.E., sawdust+transparent P.E., rice straw+transparent P.E., black P.E. film+ transparent P.E.) were used for the experiment, and transparent P.E film was removed on April 10. Temporal and Spatial Distribution of Butyltin Compounds in Marine Sediments from Ulsan Bay, Korea (울산만 퇴적물 내 유기주석화합물의 시공간적 분포 특성)

  • Butyltin compounds (BTs) were determined in surface sediment samples from Ulsan Bay in 2009 and 2011, to assess the contamination status and the effectiveness of tributylin (TBT) restriction of Korea. Dibutyltin and TBT concentrations in sediments in 2011 ranged from 19.5 to 980 and 14.2 to 1204 ng Sn $g^{-1}$ dry weight, respectively. The highest TBT concentration was found in a big shipyard complex and the next highest was found in harbor, suggesting that harbor and shipyard activities are a major contamination source of TBT in Ulsan Bay. Concentrations of BTs in Ulsan Bay sediments were significantly lower in 2009 and 2011 than that in 2003 survey previously reported, probably as a consequence of the legislative action in Korea. However, TBT concentrations in sediments still exceeded ecotoxicological values. Therefore, it will be important to monitor and reduce TBT contamination in sediments until the levels fall well below ecotoxicological levels.

Multi-variable and Multi-site Calibration and Validation of SWAT for the Gap River Catchment (갑천유역을 대상으로 SWAT 모형의 다 변수 및 다 지점 검.보정)

  • Hydrological models with many parameters and complex model structures require a powerful and detailed model calibration/validation scheme. In this study, we proposed a multi-variable and multi-site calibration and validation framework for the Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model applied in the Gap-cheon catchment located downstream of the Geum river basin. The sensitivity analysis conducted before main calibration helped understand various hydrological processes and the characteristics of subcatchments by identifying sensitive parameters in the model. In addition, the model's parameters were estimated based on existing data prior to calibration in order to increase the validity of model. The Nash-Sutcliffe coefficients and correlation coefficient were used to estimate compare model output with the observed streamflow data: $R_{eff}\;and\;R^2$ ranged 0.41-0.84 and 0.5-0.86, respectively, at the Heuduck station. Model reproduced baseflow estimated using recursive digital filter except for 2-5% overestimation at the Sindae and Boksu stations. Model also reproduced the temporal variability and fluctuation magnitude of observed groundwater levels with $R^2$ of 0.71 except for certain periods. Therefore, it was concluded that the use of multi-variable and multi-site method provided high confidence for the structure and estimated parameter values of the model.

Synthesis and Optical Properties of CaMoO4:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Dy) Phosphors (CaMoO4:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Dy) 형광체의 제조와 광학 특성)

  • Rare earth ions, either $Eu^{3+}$ or $Dy^{3+}$-doped $CaMoO_4$ phosphors were synthesized by using the solid-state reaction method. The crystalline structure of all the phosphor powders, irrespective of the type and concentration of activator ions, was found to be a tetragonal system with the main diffraction peak at (112) plane. For $Eu^{3+}$-doped $CaMoO_4$ phosphors, the grain particles showed an increasing tendency and the pebble-like patterns with a very homogeneous size distribution in the range of 0.01~0.10 mol of $Eu^{3+}$ ions concentration, and the excitation spectra were composed of a broad band centered at 311 nm and weak multiline peaked in the range of 360~470 nm. The dominant emission spectrum was the strong red emission centered at 618 nm due to the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ transition of $Eu^{3+}$ ions. For $Dy^{3+}$-doped $CaMoO_4$ powders, excitation spectra showed a charge transfer band centered at 303 nm and relatively weak bands resulting from the transitions of $Dy^{3+}$ ions and the main yellow emission spectrum was observed at 578 nm, which was assigned to the $^4F_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^7H_{13/2}$ transition of $Dy^{3+}$ ions.

  • 준설은 수중굴착, 운반(배송), 매립 기술로 구분되는데, 국내에서는 아직까지 각 기술을 통합한 체계적인 연구가 수행되지 못하고 있다. 준설분야는 토질, 수리 등의 토목 분야 기술뿐만 아니라 기계, 제어, 환경 등 여러 분야의 기술들이 매우 복잡하게 연계되어 있으며, 제한된 소수의 기술자들과 특수 대형 장비-준설선에 의해 수행되기 때문이다. 최근에는 장비의 대형화, 첨단화가 진행되면서 선진국과의 기술격차로 인해 국제 경쟁력이 약화되어 심각한 위기에 처해있는 현장기술 분야이다. 유럽의 델프트 공대, IHC, 준설협회(CEDA)는 세계 기술 개발을 주도하고 있으며, 미국에서는 육군공병단의 수로국에서 준설을 담당하고 있으며 DOER(Dredging Operation & Environmental Research) 기술 개발을 주도하는 등 선진국에서는 이미 여러 연구가 진행되었으며 준설기술이 정착되어있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 현대건설에서 보유중인 아산3호를 모델로 축소모형을 제작하여 실험하였다. 본 연구에서는 선행실험으로 성층형성 및 석션펌프 작동시 물입자의 운동방향을 PIV로 촬영한 결과에 커터헤드를 추가 장착 시행하여 이를 바탕으로 수치해석시 발생할 수 있는 오류를 수정 보완 할 것이다. 차후 실험에서는 준설토의 조건과 기계적 조건 및 환경적인 영향력을 고려한 여러 가지 방법으로 진행할 계획이며, 실험 조건에서는 각 매개변수를 달리하여 이를 토대로 데이터를 구성하고, 측정을 통해서 얻어지는 결과 값을 기초로 하여 준설시에 환경과 매개변수의 조건에 따른 준설량의 특성을 파악하고 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 방향을 제시할 것이며, 이를 통해서 기본적인 메뉴얼을 구성할 계획이다. 수리실험의 결과값을 바탕으로 이를 현실무 작업에 적용할 경우 효율적인 준설작업을 수행할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. HDL-콜레스테롤 함량은 유의차가 없었다. 간조직 중 총지질, 총콜레스테롤 및 중성 지방 함량은 HC군이 NC군에 비하여 유의하게 증가되었다. HC-LREL 군과 HC-LREH군은 HC군에 비하여 간조직 중 총지질 함량만이 유의하게 저하되었다. 이상의 결과 연근 에탄올 추출물은 in vitro에서 HMG-CoA reductase 활성을 농도 의존적으로 저하시켰으며, in vivo 에서는 고콜레스테롤 식이급여로 증가되어진 LDL-콜레스테롤 및 중성지질 함량을 감소시키고, 감소되어진 인지질 함량을 증가시킴으로써 고콜레스테롤 혈증 및 지방간의 예방과 치료에 효과가 있을 것으로 사료되나 연근의 어떠한 성분의 작용 기전에 의한 것인지에 대해서는 더욱 체계적인 연구가 요구된다.}nlein$ nephritis가 3례로 가장 많았다. 미세변화 신증후군 71명 중 비재발군이 16명으로 22.5%, 비빈발 재발군 49.3%, 빈발 재발군 18.3%, 스테로이드 의존군 9.9%를 보였다. 결론 : 대전시에서의 신증후군 환아의 발생빈도는 15세이하 소아 10만명당 약 5명으로 추정되었으며 10여 년전과 비교하여 큰 변화를 보이지는 않았다. 또한 저자들의 임상병리학적 연구결과가 다른 문헌에서 보고된 소아 신증후군의 연구결과와 큰 차이를 보이지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 자극에 차이가 있지 않나 추측되며 이에 관한 추후 연구가 요망된다. 총대장통과시간의 단축은 결장 분절 모두에서 줄어들어 나타났으나 좌측결장 통과시간의 감소 및 이로 인한 이 부위의 통과시간 비율의 저하가 가장 주요하였다. 이러한 결과는 차가운 생수 섭취가 주로 결장 근위부를 자극하는 효과를 발휘하는 것이 아닌가 해석된다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 통해 생다시마를 주원료로 개발된 생다시마차와 생다시마 음료가 만성 기능성 변비 증세를 개선하는 효

  • Several bacteria are known as the causal agents of diseases of the cultivated button mushroom(Agaricus bisporus) and oyster mushroom(Pleurotus ostreatus). Pseudomonas tolaasii is the causal agent of brown blotch disease of commercial mushrooms. Pseudomonas sp. HC1 is a potent biological control agent to control brown blotch disease caused by Pseudomonas tolaasii. This can markedly reduce the level of extracellular toxins (i.e., tolaasins) produced by Pseudomonas tolaasii, the most destructive pathogen of cultivated mushrooms. To define the optimum conditions for the mass production of the Pseudomonas sp. HC1, we have investigated optimum culture conditions and effects of various nutrient source on the bacterial growth. The optimum initial pH and temperature were determined as pH 5.0 and $20^{\circ}C$, respectively. The optimal culture medium for the growth of tolaasin inhibitor bacterium was determined as follows: 0.9% dextrin, 1.5% yest extract, 0.5% $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$, 4mM $FeCl_3$, and 3.0% cysteine.

Photoluminescence of $Ga_2S_3$: Er Single Crystals ($Ga_2S_3$: Er 단결정의 Photoluminescence 특성 연구)

  • Two kinds of $Ga_2S_3:Er$ (type A and type B) single crystals were grown by the chemical transport reaction method using iodine as a transport agent. The single crystals were crystallized into a monoclinic structure. The optical energy band gaps were found to 3.375 eV for the $Ga_2S_3:Er$ (type A) single crystal and 3.365 eV fir the $Ga_2S_3:Er$ (type B) single crystal at 13K. When the $Ga_2S_3:Er$ (type A and type B) single crystals were excited by the 325 nm-line of a Cd-He laser, Photoluminescence spectra of the $Ga_2S_3:Er$ (type A) single crystal exhibited blue emission band peaked at 444 nm and green and red emission bands peaked at 518 nm and 690 nm. Pgitikynubescebce soectra if the $Ga_2S_3:Er$ (typeB) single crystal showed green and red emission bands peaked at 513 nm and 695 nm. Sharp emission peaks in the two kinds if $Ga_2S_3:Er$ single crystal were observed near 525 nm, 553 nm, 664 nm, 812 nm, 986 nm, and 1540 nm and analysed as originating from the electron transitions between the energy levels of $Er^{3+}$ ion.

Comparison of Growth Characteristics and Active Ingredients in Atractylodes Inter-Specific Hybrid Cultivars (삽주 육성품종 간 생육특성 및 유효성분 분석)

  • Background: Atractylodes japonica Koidz. and Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. belong to the family (Asteraceae). Their rhizomes, called white Atractylodes rhizomes, are used in traditional medicine. To address some issues with their cultivation, we recently developed eight hybrid cultivars by interspecific hybridization of A. japonica and A. macrocephala. This study was conducted to screen the hybrid cultivars that have high amounts of active ingredients and yield ability. Methods and Results: Experiments were conducted using the eight hybrid cultivars and A. macrocephala (control cultivar) in the experimental field of the department of Herbal Crop Research located in Eumseong, South Korea. We investigated the growth characteristics of the aerial and underground parts. Among the cultivars, 'Sanwon' had the highest rhizome dry weight (53.8 g/plant), followed by 'Dachul' (50.0 g/plant). In addition, the content of atractylenolide I, II, III and total active ingredients were investigated using high-performance liquid chromatography. Compared with A. macrocephala, most of the inter-specific hybrid cultivars had a higher content of active ingredients and yield ability. Conclusions: Through study, we established the superior quality of Atractylodes inter-specific hybrid cultivars. In particularly, it was found that 'Dachul' may be grown as a superior cultivar, with high amount of active ingredients as well as yield ability.

Mineralogy and Genesis of Manganese Ores in the Dongnam Mine, Korea (동남광산(東南鑛山)의 망간광석(鑛石)에 대(對)한 광물학적(鑛物學的) 및 성인적(成因的) 연구(硏究))

  • Manganese deposits ar the Dongnam mine occur as vein in the Pungchon limestone of Ordovician age. Manganese ore veins consist of the hydrothermal manganese carbonate ores in the deeper part and the supergene manganese oxide ores in the shallow part. Manganese carbonate ores consist mainly of rhodochrosite, with minor amount of proxmangite, garnet, calcite, quartz, pyrite, galena and sphalerite. Manganese oxide ores consist of rancieite, buserite, birnessite, vernadite, todorokite, pydrolusite, nsutite, hydrohetaerosite and goethite. Manganese oxide minerals were formed in the following sequences; 1) rhodochrosite ${\rightarrow}$ vernadite ${\rightarrow}$ birnessite ${\rightarrow}$ nsutite ${\rightarrow}$ pyrolusite, 2) pyroxmangite ${\rightarrow}$ birnessite, 3) Buserite ${\rightarrow}$ ransieite. Todorokite, buserite and hydrohetaerolite were precipitated from solution in the later stage. The natural analogue of synthetic buserite has been discovered from the mine. It has been disclosed that buserite transforms to rancicite by dehydration, and that distinction between buserite and todorokite is possible by X-ray diffraction studies combined with dehydration experiment. Minerals identified from the mine have been characterized using various methods including polarizing microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy, elecrton microscopy and dehydration experiment.
