As the development of the new integrated KORMARC format is completed and the problems of KORMARC aroused by different formats by different material types are settled, librarians' interests have increased in adopting the new integrated format. This article attempts to demonstrate the necessity of adopting the new format and suggests some considering points in its application process. To effectively adopt the new format, firstly the scope of new format application should be decided, and then data conversion and related program development should be followed. It is hoped that this article will raise the understanding of the integrated KORMARC format and give some guidelines to libraries considering its adoption and library system vendors.

KORMARC formats have been developed in accordance with type of materials at different times. The format was firstly developed and soon after with formats for serials, audiovisual materials, archival and manuscript materials. Although all of the formats were developed according to the same principles, there were same inconsistencies among them. However, there are solved above problems as integrating KORMARC bibliographic formats. First of all, the result was better than we had expected both unified cataloging rules and standard of a descriptive form as accepted KCR4. This study is to roughly analyze integrating process, integrating contents, and problems of KORMARC format.

This study aims to present a revised draft of KORMARC bibliographic format that was first revised in 2014. To this end, data collection and analysis methods are as follows. First, the opinions of cataloging working groups for revision of KORMARC including the National Library of Korea (NLK) and KERIS were collected and analyzed. Second, work guidelines used in libraries or cooperative catalog systems were analyzed. Third, by comparing MARC21 update No.32 (June 2021) with the KORMARC bibliographic format, elements that need to be reflected in the KORMARC revision were derived. Finally, issues that have been raised in previous studies or that require further discussion were examined. Based on these analysis results, an outlines of the extension and deletion of KORMARC fields, subfields, and indicators, and supplementation of application guidelines and examples were derived. The final revision directions were finalized after collecting expert opinions, the working group reviews, and comprehensive opinions from the library community.

The goal of this study is to seek for the method of effective DB conversion and related system development for the integrated KORMARC Format on the basis of the case of Sogang University Library. Since the integrated KORMARC bibliographic format was established, libraries have been converting bibliographic DB according to the new format. Loyola Library of Sogang University internally proceeded DB conversion using bibliographic DB convertor, which was developed and customized with a system vendor for Sogang University Library. The internal conversion enabled to correct or supplement bibliographic data errors. Besides, it enhanced stability of conversion and shortened the project time by adopting sampling conversion method. It was effective to reduce the additional work for DB quality maintenance, so this kind of conversion is recommendable to the library that has limited manpower for manual data correction.

The integrated management of community archives, which is conducted by incorporating them into the category of library data through the system of library materials management is more necessary for residents to use community archives by arranging and preserving them collected by public libraries, than management implemented through a separate system. This study therefore draw25 descriptive factors by comparatively analyzing descriptive factors of the descriptive standards for community archives such as ISAD(G) and DC, etc. and integrating common or similar ones. Such 25 drawn descriptive factors were empirically tested three times by professionals through the Delphi technique, and 3 descriptive sectors and 21 descriptive factors were finally drawn. The drawn descriptive factors were divided into mandatory, mandatory if applicable and optional through KORMARC-integrated format for bibliographic data and mapping and applied to the system of library materials management, by adjusting the descriptive factors for the systems.

The Korean Library Association has developed the Korean Cataloging Rules, fourth edition(KCR4) in 2003 and the National Library of Korea developed integrated version of KORMARC formats in 2006 on the basis of KCR4. Many educational institutions and libraries are currently cataloging based on KORMARC. Nevertheless, we have encountered many problems on KCR4 and KORMARC formats which needed to be modified. This study is aimed at pointing out the problems of KCR4 in describing 245 field which has a crucial and important role. Therefore, this study proposes the improvement methods of the use of parenthesis and subfield code in 245 field, and presents a description format of volume number, statement of responsibility and joint works including more than four persons.

This study aims to explore preferred title and authorized access points for religious works with sample bibliographic data and authority data. To this end, this study (1) reviewed RDA and recently revised KCR as cataloging rules, (2) investigated the preferred titles and authorized access points of religious works in major national libraries as a case study, and finally (3) suggested a method for constructing preferred titles and authorized access points for religious works in Korean libraries using sample data. The data needed for the study were collected through literature research and case studies, and additional email inquiry with the catalog librarians was conducted. As a result of the study, preferred titles and authorized access points for religious works were proposed in the form of KORMARC bibliographic and authority data.

This study aims to construct faceted navigation useful for domestic users through analyzing English and North American public libraries' faceted navigations. The 19 domestic libraries and the 12 foreign libraries has been chosen for analyzing their unique facets. Although the domestic libraries' facets had no differences to the domestic universities' facets, the North American libraries have their unique facets. Those facets are target audience, genre, library list, user tags, and availability related facets and the facets are mainly to improve user's usability in using library catalog. Adopting the facets in domestic public libraries by using Fixed-Length data elements of KORMARC, domestic public libraries will enhance usability of library users in retrieving library materials.
