  • In this paper, the performance of double binary turbo code is analyzed and simulated in ultra wide-band (UWB) systems employing multiple-antenna scheme. We consider both pulse position modulation-time hopping (PPM-TH) and pulse amplitude modulation-direct sequence (PAM-DS) UWB systems. The space time block code (STBC) scheme is adopted as a transmit diversity method. Also, receive diversity scheme is applied. And double binary turbo code is applied to the UWB system.

  • A K-SBAS (Korean Satellite Based Augmentation System) is proposed as one of the space infrastructure. The proposed system considers the existed elements to the utmost for the most economical SBAS construction. As reference system the current DGPS (differential global positioning system) network is investigated. Space segment is investigated based on the COMS-1 (Communications, Oceanographic, and Meteorological Satellite-1). While bus system of COMS-1 can be kept to minimum change, the communication payload of needed, crucial parts such as software, man power can be easily secured through the DGPS network operation heritage.

  • This paper introduce a Koran-Japanese machine translation system which is a module in the spoken language interpreting system It is implemented based on the TDMT(Transfre Driven Machine Translation). We define a new unit of translation so called TOKEN. The TOKEN-based translation method resolves nonstructural feature in Korean sentences and increases the quaity of translating results. In our system, we get rid of useless effort for traditional parsing by performing semi-parsing. The semi-parser makes the dependency tree which has minimum information needed generating module. We constructed the generation dictionaries by using the corpus obtained from ETRI spoken language database. Our system was tested with 600 utterances which is collected from travel planning domain The success-ratio of our system is 87% on restricted testing environment and 71% on unrestricted testing environment.

  • In a computing environment connected pan-based computers and a server by Internet, This paper describes a language learning system evaluating the quality of a handwriting string. For the purpose of the system, this paper explains how to retrieve reference data from a database, how to evaluate the quality of a handwriting string using global and local features. The Proposed system can evaluate the qualify of a handwriting string as well as a handwriting character. The qualify can be computed in the case of different language between reference and input. Therefore, we expect that the system is very useful not only for training on handwriting but also learning a language.

  • Recently, interest in fencing is getting increased in Korea due to good results in international fencing competitions and its exposure to the media. However, one of the difficult factors in entering fencing is the cost of initial equipment purchases. Solving this can contribute to expanding the base of fencing. For this reason, this study designed and developed a system that can replace the function of the remote control with a mobile application using Bluetooth communication and learn the function of the fencing scoreboard and fencing terms in French. Through interviews, fencing leaders and club members were asked to find out what was necessary in this study, and to mention the pros and cons of the test operation. It is expected that the fencing scoreboard will be lightweight and small, and it will help to spread fencing through cost reduction.

  • 의존 구문 분석은 문장 구성 요소의 위치에 제약이 적고 생략에도 유연하게 대처할 수 있어 한국어 구문 분석에 적합하다. 하지만 의존 구문 분석을 수행할 때 지배소를 결정해야 할 노드 수가 많으면 계산의 복잡도가 올라가고, 각 노드의 지배소를 결정할 때 방향성 문제가 있어 구문 분석에 모호함을 더한다. 이때 지배소 후위 원칙을 엄격하게 적용할 경우 구문적 중심어와 의미적 중심어가 불일치하는 문제가 발생한다. 이러한 문제들을 해소하기 위해 구묶음을 수행한 문장으로 구문 분석을 수행할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 기존의 의존 구문 말뭉치를 말덩이 기반의 의존 구문 말뭉치로 변환하는 알고리즘을 기술하고, 이에 따라 구축한 말뭉치와 기존의 말뭉치를 정량적으로 비교한다.

Prosodic Characteristics of Korean Distant Speech (한국어 원거리 음성의 운율적 특성)

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the prosodic characteristics of Korean distant speech. Four speakers (2 males and 2 females) produced 36 2-syllable words in both distant-talking and normal environments. totaling 288 spoken 2-syllable words. The results showed that ratios of second syllable to first syllable in vowel duration and vowel energy were significantly larger in the distant-talking environment compared to the normal environment and f0 range also bigger in the distant-talking environment. In addition, 'HL%' contour boundary tone in the second syllable and/or 'L+H' contour tone in the first syllable were used in the distant-talking environment.

  • The Weightless Neural Network(WNN) has the advantage of the processing speed, less computability than weighted neural network which readjusts the weight. Especially, The behavior information such as sequential gesture has many serial correlation. So, It is required the high computability and processing time to recognize. To solve these problem, Many algorithms used that added preprocessing and hardware interface device to reduce the computability and speed. In this paper, we proposed the Ram based Sequential Cumulative Neural Network(SCNN) model which is sign language recognition system without preprocessing and hardware interface. We experimented with using compound words in continuous korean sign language which was input binary image with edge detection from camera. The recognition system of sign language without preprocessing got 93% recognition rate.

  • This paper introduces a new search model which can retrieve information instantly and easily about a given search word on Internet and control search spaces diversely. In the existing web searches, because the user has to stop his work, run web browsers, connect to special internet sites, and type the search word by keyboard. it is a long way and not a simple way. Also the search result is too much. The user suffers difficulties of multiple searches for different categories such as dictionary, image, video clips, etc. The software implemented in this paper enables for the user to select search word simply at any documents on the screen and make search started by simply pressing CRTL key and left button of the mouse simultaneously. The software is a mash up style using the Open API which is provided by a web site and can be freely available in any other sites. By calling different Open APIs of several web sites, the mash-up software can integrate search functions of many different sites. We evaluate that the software implemented in this paper will be a good reference of mash-up as one with characteristics of easy and instant search, simple result, diversity of search category, and scalability of search functions.

A design and implementation of the management system for number of keyword searching results using Google searching engine (구글 검색엔진을 활용한 키워드 검색결과 수 관리 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • With lots of information occurring on the Internet, the search engine plays a role in gathering the scattered information on the Internet. Some search engines show not only search result pages including search keyword but also search result numbers of the keyword. The number of keyword searching result provided by the Google search engine can be utilized to identify overall trends for this search word on the internet. This paper is aimed designing and realizing the system which can efficiently manage the number of searching result provided by Google search engine. This paper proposed system operates by Web, and consist of search agent, storage node, and search node, manage keyword and search result, numbers, and executing search. The proposed system make the results such as search keywords, the number of searching, NGD(Normalized Google Distance) that is the distance between two keywords in Google area.
