  • In electric motor coaches, the rolling stocks move by the adhesive effort between rail and driving wheel. Generally, the adhesive effort is defined by the function of both the weight of electric motor coach and the adhesive effort between rails and driving wheel. The characteristics of adhesive effort is strongly affected by the conditions between rails and driving wheel. When the adhesive effort decreases suddenly, the electric motor coach has slip phenomena. This paper proposes a re-adhesion control algorithm which uses the maximum adhesive effort by instantaneous estimation of adhesion force using load torque disturbance observer. Based on this estimated adhesive effort, the re-adhesion control Is peformed to obtain the maximum transfer of the tractive effort.

  • Spin-transfer torque is a useful tool to control the magnetic state in nanostructures. In magnetic tunnel junctions, the spin-transfer torque has two components, the in-plane spin torque and the perpendicular spin torque. While properties of the in-plane spin-transfer torque are relatively well understood, properties of the perpendicular spin-transfer torque still remain controversial. A recent experiment demonstrated that in asymmetric magnetic tunnel junctions, the bias voltage dependence of the perpendicular spin-transfer torque contains both linear and quadratic terms in the bias. However it still remains unexplored how the bias voltage dependence changes as a function of material parameters. In this paper, we systematically investigate the perpendicular spin-transfer torque in asymmetric magnetic tunnel junction by varying spin splitting energy, work function difference, and Fermi energy of the ferromagnetic metal leads.

  • A new integrated torque and speed control algorithm has been proposed for the load balancing of rollers in continuous strip processing line(CSPL). Using the proposed method, the output torque and speed can be controlled to follow the reference in spite of nonideal effects such as the speed reference error and/or the controller gain difference between rolls. This new algorithm can be easily implemented in a motor drive system of each roll as it does not require the torque feedback of the others. Through the simulation and experiments for a simple CSPL consists of four driven rolls, the load balancing performance of the proposed scheme is presented and compared with that of conventional method.

  • This paper proposes a novel method to reduce the torque ripple due to the non-ideality of the current sensing parts in vector-controlled inverter-fed AC motor drive systems. For PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor), motor output torque equations are derived in terms of their offset voltages and different voltage transducing gains. And the effects of phase current errors on motor torque are analyzed for both salient PMSM and non-salient PMSM. The proposed method can eliminate the torque ripple by nulling the offset voltages and setting the voltage transducing gains to the same value. To verify the proposed method, digital simulations are carried out for non-salient PMSM.

  • Recently, electric propulsion systems are been increasingly used in large cruise ships and merchant vessels. When abnormal electrical conditions occur in the motor of an electric propulsion ship, they can cause serious damage to the motor and propeller shaft. Research on abnormal conditions of propulsion motors used in electric propulsion vessels and electric ships difficult to find. In this study, a mathematical model of the electric propulsion system is proposed to analyze transient phenomena that occur in the case of electric propulsion motor or propeller shaft malfunction. A synchronous motor was used in the MATLAB computer simulation of this study. In the event of electrical malfunction of the electric propulsion motor at rated operation, over current occurs in the condition of 1 phase ground, over torque occurs at 3 and 2 phases ground and over current and torque occur when exciting power fails at rated operation.

  • When the motor is rotating, the torque and rpm are varying as the loads or the driving status connecting through reduction units are changing. On the contrary, one can monitor the changes of the loads or the driving status in the manner of measuring motor torque and rpm. There is a torque measuring method using the strain gauge and bridge circuit. But, because this is the contact method, it has the life time which is dependent on rotating velocity and used time. So this system demands on replacement of some Parts or whole system itself for maintenance. And this system is also relatively big and expensive, requiring preceding annoying process. In this paper, we are going to suppose non-contact method to measure torque and rpm using the Hall effects sensor For this we have made the planetary geared reduction motor with Hall sensors and with the monitoring system. The monitoring system displays the sensing data(torque, rpm) and calculated data( power) and also has the network capability with Bluetooth protocol. Our solution is much more inexpensive ;md simple method to measure torque and rpm than before.

  • This paper presents a study on the driveline output torque estimation using a discrete Kalman filter. The in-situ output shaft torque is first measured by a non-contacting magneto-elastic torque transducer. The linear state-space system equations are first derived and the discrete Kalman filter is designed based on the Kalman filter theory to recover the driveline output torque contaminated by random noises. In addition to using torque measurement, the estimation of the output torque using two angular velocities: the output and wheel, is also conducted. The experimental results show that the discrete Kalman filter can be effective for not only removing the random noise in output torque but also estimating the output torque without torque measurement.
