Reproductive Growth of Seeds and Overwintered Stump of Bulrush (Scirpus juncoides Roxb.) (올챙고랭이(Scirpus juncoides Roxb.) 종실(種實) 및 월동주기부(越冬株基部)의 번식생장(繁殖生長)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • Differing in water conditions, the dry matter weight per plant was highest at 0 cm flooding depth, and was decreased at above 2 cm flooding depths. The shoot and spikes per pot developed best at flooding depths of 0 and 2 cm, but worst at -5cm or above 4cm flooding depths. The dry matter weight of shoots was linearly increased, but the weight of roots was sharply decreased according to high temperature after flower initation. The shoots and spikes per pot developed more effectively at 25$^{\circ}C$ than at 35 or 15$^{\circ}C$. The number of shoot and spike per pot were decreased according to higher shading. The effects of shading of 25-45% were not significantly small. The natural white and yellow spectra were the most effective to increase dry matter weight, shoots and spikes per pot. The dry matter weights of shoot and root per plant were not significantly different among at: 50 and 75% clay. The number of shoots were best and continuously increased at 75% clay, and the increments at 0 and 100% clays showed the lag period at early stage. The pattern of spikes was similar to shoots with less difference in various clay composition. The dry matter weight per plant in paddy field and upland field was basically similar. The numbers of shoot and spike were increased in response to increased fertilizer levels up to 20Kg per 10a of each component.

Potassium Physiology of Upland Crops (밭 작물(作物)의 가리(加里) 생리(生理))

  • The physiological and biochemical role of potassium for upland crops according to recent research reports and the nutritional status of potassium in Korea were reviewed. Since physical and chemical characteristics of potassium ion are different from those of sodium, potassium can not completely be replaced by sodium and replacement must be limited to minimum possible functional area. Specific roles of potassium seem to keep fine structure of biological membranes such as thylacoid membrane of chloroplast in the most efficient form and to be allosteric effector and conformation controller of various enzymes principally in carbohydrate and protein metabolism. Potassium is essential to improve the efficiency of phoro- and oxidative- phosphorylation and involve deeply in all energy required metabolisms especially synthesis of organic matter and their translocation. Potassium has many important, physiological functions such as maintenance of osmotic pressure and optimum hydration of cell colloids, consequently uptake and translocation of water resulting in higher water use efficiency and of better subcellular environment for various physiological and biochemical activities. Potassium affects uptake and translocation of mineral nutrients and quality of products. potassium itself in products may become a quality criteria due to potassium essentiality for human beings. Potassium uptake is greatly decreased by low temperature and controlled by unknown feed back mechanism of potassium in plants. Thus the luxury absorption should be reconsidered. Total potassium content of upland soil in Korea is about 3% but the exchangeable one is about 0.3 me/100g soil. All upland crops require much potassium probably due to freezing and cold weather and also due to wet damage and drought caused by uneven rainfall pattern. In barley, potassium should be high at just before freezing and just after thawing and move into grain from heading for higher yield. Use efficiency of potassium was 27% for barley and 58% in old uplands, 46% in newly opened hilly lands for soybean. Soybean plant showed potassium deficiency symptom in various fields especially in newly opened hilly lands. Potassium criteria for normal growth appear 2% $K_2O$ and 1.0 K/(Ca+Mg) (content ratio) at flower bud initiation stage for soybean. Potassium requirement in plant was high in carrot, egg plant, chinese cabbage, red pepper, raddish and tomato. Potassium content in leaves was significantly correlated with yield in chinese cabbage. Sweet potato. greatly absorbed potassium subsequently affected potassium nutrition of the following crop. In the case of potassium deficiency, root showed the greatest difference in potassium content from that of normal indicating that deficiency damages root first. Potatoes and corn showed much higher potassium content in comparison with calcium and magnesium. Forage crops from ranges showed relatively high potassium content which was significantly and positively correlated with nitrogen, phosphorus and calcium content. Percentage of orchards (apple, pear, peach, grape, and orange) insufficient in potassium ranged from 16 to 25. The leaves and soils from the good apple and pear orchards showed higher potassium content than those from the poor ones. Critical ratio of $K_2O/(CaO+MgO)$ in mulberry leaves to escape from winter death of branch tip was 0.95. In the multiple croping system, exchangeable potassium in soils after one crop was affected by the previous crops and potassium uptake seemed to be related with soil organic matter providing soil moisture and aeration. Thus, the long term and quantitative investigation of various forms of potassium including total one are needed in relation to soil, weather and croping system. Potassium uptake and efficiency may be increased by topdressing, deep placement, slow-releasing or granular fertilizer application with the consideration of rainfall pattern. In all researches for nutritional explanation including potassium of crop yield reasonable and practicable nutritional indices will most easily be obtained through multifactor analysis.

Sod Production and Current Status of Cultivation Management in Korea (우리나라 잔디 생산과 재배 관리실태)

  • To investigate the actual condition of production and management of sod, a questionnaire was ask to 57 farmers in major cultivated areas of turf sod in Korea in 2010 and 2011. The results of the turfgrass management situation analysis showed a mixed farming where the ratio of the principal work and the side work progress similarly, and for the landholding type depending on the management scale, the rental ratio was high for a scale over 0.5 ha. Sod production farmers has high-profile in new varieties of turfgrass, integrated management of the fertilization and soil or disease and insect pest however the future of the turfgrass industry does not seem optimistic due to the problems such as market stability or scarcity of worker. Obtaining of information on culture methods depended neighbor's experience (81.8%). Concerning the varieties preference analysis, the 32.1% of farmer answered that the reproductive rate was a key factor for the new variety. Sod production farmers want to receive financial support (28.1%), improvement of distribution structure of sod (26.6%), and spread of good variety turfgrass (23.4%).

Harvest Management and Nitrigen Fertilization Level to Maximize Nutrient Yield of Reed Canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) in Uncultivated Rice Paddy (유휴논토양에서 Reed Canarygrass의 최대 양분수량을 얻기 위한 질소시비와 예취관리)

  • The effects of cutting 6equency and nitrogen fertilization on feed values of reed canarygrass were investigated in uncultivated rice paddy and the attemp was made to estimate the economical and efficient levels of nitrogen fertilization for the increased production of nutrients in reed canarygrass. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Crude protein(CP) content was higher at 1st cut of all treatments(12.5% in 3 cutting 6equency; 19, 7% in 4 cutting frequency; 22.5% in 5 cutting kquency). However, Total Digestible Nutrients(TDN) and Relative Feed Value(RFV) in 3 and 4 cutting 6equencies were higher at 3rd cut(63.5%, 126.8) and 4th cut(65.7%, 146.4) respectively in which the contents of Neutral Detergent Fiber(NDF) and Acid Detergent Fiber(ADF) were lowest. In 5 cutting frequency, 1st cut showed the highest TDN and RFV as 70.5% and 232.4 respectively. 2. The level of nitrogen fertilization affected CP content of reed canarygrass. Nitrogen fertilization of 120kgl halcut showed high CP contents of 11.4, 14.7 and 16.5% in 3, 4 and 5 cutting eequency respectively. In 3 and 4 cutting frequency, TDN and RFV were highest with nitrogen fertilization of 90kg/ha/cut where NDF and ADF were lowest, however those in 5 cutting frequency were highest with nitrogen fertilization of 30kg/ha/cut. 3. The yields of CP varied according to the number of cutting frequency and those were 0.45~0.65 in 3 cutting hquency, 0.35~0.50 in 4 cutting frequency, and 0.19~0.67tond/ha in 5 cutting 6equency respectively and TDN was 2.09~3.60, 1.64~2.77 and 0.73~2.96tons/ha respectively. 4. The ratios between the yields of CP and TDN were 5.48, 4.60 and 4.34 in 3, 4 and 5 cutting 6equency respectively and it indicates lower ratio in result of higher number of cutting 6equency. 5. Higher nitrogen fertilization increased the yields of CP and TDN. The yields of CP were higher in 5 cutting frequency as 1.55~2.62tons/ha than of 3(1.20~1.91tons/ha) and 4 cutting frequency(1.35-2.23tons/ha). The yields of TDN were 6.31~9.93, 5.99~9.99 and 7.16~10.57tons/ha in 3, 4 and 5 cutting frequency respectively. 6. The levels of nitrogen fertilization for high production efficiency of crude protein(kg CPYkg N) was estimated as 113.4~302.5kg/ha and it resulted in 1.44~2.09ton/ha of CP yields. The levels of nitrogen fertilization for high production efficiency of dry matter was 199.2-361.3kgha in which nitrogen were fertilized below 400kg/ha and it resulted in 1.64~2.17ton/ha of CP yields. 7. The levels of nitrogen fertilization for high production efficiency of total digestible nutrients(kg TDNYkg N) were 149.9~294.1kg/ha in 3 and 4 cutting kequency and it resulted in 8.66~8.89ton/ha of TDN yileds. With the levels of nitrogen fertilization for high production efficiency of dry matter of 199.2~361.3kg/ha, TDN yields were high as 8.77~9.94ton/ha.

Water Quality of Streams and Agricultural Wells Related to Different Agricultural Practices in Small Catchments of the Han River Basin (농업형태가 다른 한강 상하류 소유역의 하천수 및 농업용 지하수 수질)

  • Water quality of streams and ground water from areas of different agricultural practices in the small catchments of the Han River basin was investigated. Water samples were collected from upper, middle and lower reaches of the Han River Basin where three types of agricultural management have been practiced : (1) highland agriculture and livestocks in Daegwanryung area, (2) typical upland and paddy farmings in Dunnae (Jucheon River) and Chuncheon (Soyang River) areas, and (3) intensive farming in the plastic film house in Guri area (Wangsuk stream). Water quality was monitored for EC, pH, COD, TSS, N, rations and anions. Concentrations of N, especially nitrate, and phosphorus in both stream and ground water exceeded the standard water quality criteria in many cases, but those of heavy metals were non-detectable or trace in most cases, except for Wangsuk stream where a high level was detected in a specific sampling time. Chemical criteria such as pH, EC and COD of the stream were suitable for irrigation purpose, but nitrate concentrations in ground water used in the intensive plastic film house were high enough to require a special management consideration. A model on the irrigation water quality incorporating EC and nitrate concentrations was suggested in view of fertilizer management and environmental quality.

Assessment of Energy Efficiency and Nutrient Balance in Organic Rice Farming Area (벼유기농업단지 에너지효율 및 양분수지 평가)

  • Energy efficiency and nutrient balance are good methods for environmental assessment of the environmentally-friendly agriculture. The objectives of this study were 1) to estimate the energy efficiency and nutrient balance of the organic rice farming, and 2) to suggest a solution to improvement the energy efficiency and nutrient balance. The set of estimation was performed at the organic rice farming area (8.9 ha) in Wanju-gun during the paddy cultivation period from 2006 to 2007. The organic farming complex consists of four weeding methods using 1) duck, 2) apple snail, 3) duck and apple snail and 4) hands and machinery. Results from this estimation should that the organic rice farming area was less efficient than conventional rice farming. The efficiency of organic farming area in 2006 was higher than in 2007. For the calculation of the nutrient balance, the N, P and K contents of input materials (cattle manure, milk vetch, mixed oilcake, rice bran, rice straw and barley straw) and output (farm products) were analysed. Annual environmental loads of N, $P_2O_5$ and $K_2O$ were estimated at 4.4 kg/10a, 13.8 kg/10a and 14.5 kg/10a, respectively. Cattle manure had the largest portion among the inputs items and nutrient concentration of cattle manure was high. Thus energy efficiency and nutrient balance depend on cattle manure input. Therefore it is necessary to control the manure input to improve the efficiency of organic rice farming.

Studies on the Tobacco Growth Characteristics under Environmental Conditions between KOREA and U.S.A. (한국과 미국의 재배환경 요인과 담배생육비교)

  • To find main factors to affect tobacco culture and quality, NC 2326 (Nicotiana tabacum L.) was cultivated in Korea and in the United States under different plant density, fertilization, mulching and curing. Among the chemical characteristics of the both experimental soils, the organic matters were similar concentration in both locations but effective phosphorous contents were higher in Oxford in the United States. Plant height, length and width of the largest leaf, leaf thickness, and midrib ratios were larger in Oxford than in Suwon in Korea. Also they were larger in non mulching system than in mulching system. But the total numbers of the leaves were decreased in non mulching system. The content of nicotine was higher in the plant grown in Suwon than in Oxford. The concentrations of nicotine and sugar tend to increase in mulching system comparing of non mulching system. During the growing, the concentration of non-volatile organic acids was higher in Suwon, while it was lower in cured leaf produced in Suwon. Also the contents of total fatty acids were lower in the harvested leaf grown in Suwon, but not in cured tobacco. Forty three compounds identified among the volatile oils from these experimental samples were quantified. The concentrations of the major components related to the tobacco flavour such as damascone, damascenone, solanone, nor-solanadione, and megastigmatrienones were higher in the cured tobacco produced in Oxford rather than in Suwon.

Evaluation on Feasibility of Industrial By-products for Development of Mono-Layer Landfill Cover System (산업부산물을 이용한 단층형 매립지 복토시스템 개발을 위한 적용 타당성 평가)

  • In order to investigate the applicability and suitability of the industrial by-products to apply mono-layer cover system for non-sanitary landfill sites, 6 different industrial by-products, such as construction waste, bottom ash, gypsum, blast furnace and steel manufacture slags, and stone powder sludge, were evaluated. Various physicochemical and hydrodynamic properties of the industrial byproducts were investigated. The environmental safety was monitored using batch and long-term leaching tests as well. In addition, the flexibility of plants was observed by cultivating them in the industrial by-products. The results for physicochemical properties indicate that most of the materials considered appeared to be suitable for landfill cover. Particularly, the concentration levels of hazardous elements regulated by the Korean Law for Waste Management did not exceed the regulatory limits in all target materials. In addition, the concentrations of regulated elements for the Korean Soil Conservation Law were examined below the regulatory limits in most of materials considered, except for the stone powder sludge. The results of batch and long-term experiments showed bottom ash and construction waste were the most suitable materials for landfill cover among the industrial by-products considered. The results of plant studies indicate that the bottom ash among industrial by-products considered was most effective in developing vegetation on landfill site, showing fast germination and large growth index. At the final covering system made of mixture of soil and bottom ash, the optimum application rate of farmyard manure was observed to be 40-50 Mg/ha.

휴대형 당도판정센서를 이용한 배의 당도 판정

  • 과수원에서 재배되는 배는 과수원 내의 위치, 시비, 토양 등의 요인에 따라 다양한 품질을 나타내며, 당도와 숙도의 편차가 크기 때문에 과수농가에서는 경험에 의존하여 적정 숙기로 판단되는 배를 수확하고 있다. 그러나 과학적이지 못한 사실에 기초한 수확 관행은 시장유통되는 배에 대하여 소비자들의 신뢰성 저하를 초래하게 되고 소비 감소와 더불어 농가 소득 감소로 이어지게 된다. 최근, 전국의 청과물 산지유통센터에는 근적외선을 이용하여 과일 내부의 당도, 산도, 결함 등을 실시간으로 판정할 수 있는 비파괴 선별기가 보급되고 있으나 이는 수확이후의 선별.규격화 유통을 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이와는 달리, 수확 이전, 즉 재배 단계에서 배의 당도와 숙도를 판정하여 수확적기를 판단할 수 있도록 나무에 매달린 배에 대하여 가시광선과 근적외선 반사스펙트럼을 측정할 수 있고 이를 이용하여 당도와 숙도가 판정가능한 휴대형 센서를 개발하였으며, 개발된 시작기를 이용하여 당도판정의 가능성을 시험하였다. 휴대형 당도판정센서는 광원과 광섬유프로브, 광검출부, 당도판정부, 전원공급부로 구성된다. 광원은 할로겐램프(6V)를 이용하였고, 광섬유프로브는 동심원 형태로서 외부의 광섬유를 통하여 광원에서 시료로 빛이 조사되게 하고, 내부의 광섬유를 통하여 광검출기로 확산반사되는 광이 전달될 수 있도록 하였다. 전원공급부는 휴대와 충전이 가능한 배터리(12V, 2AH)와 이 배터리에서 정전류가 광원으로 보내어 질 수 있도록 제작된 회로로 구성하였다. 당도 판정을 위하여 518nm에서 1046nm의 파장대역에서의 반사스펙트럼을 이용하였고, 레퍼런스로써 백색 테플론 구를 제작하여 사용하였다. 수원 농산물 도매시장에서 판매중인 2002년산 신고 배를 구매하고, 시작기를 이용하여 총 113개의 배에 대한 반사스펙트럼을 측정하였다. 다음으로 굴절당도계로 당도값을 측정하고 반사스펙트림을 이용하여 당도값을 예측하기 위한 부분최소제곱회귀(PLSR)모델을 개발하였다. 여기서 모델의 정밀도는 교차검정법을 이용하여 검증하였다. 시료 표면과 광섬유프로브와의 접촉상태 불균일, 광원의 시간에 따른 경시 변화, 과일 형상의 차이 등에 의하여 측정된 반사스펙트럼은 상당한 변이를 나타내었으므로 이를 보정하기 위하여 반사 스펙트럼은 다분산보정처리하여 이용하였다. 당도 예측용 PLSR모델 개발의 결과, 모델의 결정계수($R^2$)는 0.67, SEC는 $\pm$0.4brix.로 나타났으며, 교차검정에 의한 미지 시료의 예측에서 총 113개의 미지 시료에 대한 결정계수는 0.57, SEP는 $\pm$ 0.46brix.로 나타났으며, 이는 현장에서 충분히 활용가능할 것으로 판단되었다. 금후, 전체 시스템의 부피와 중량을 줄이고 각 부분품들의 전력소모의 최소화할 수 있도록 개선할 계획이다.

Effect of Several Cultivation on Growth of Lysimachia mauritiana Lam. as Potted Plant (몇 가지 재배조건이 분화용 갯까치수염(Lysimachia mauritiana Lam.)의 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 관상식물인 갯까치수염의 분화용 재배기술을 개발하기 위하여 실시하였다. 종자를 이용하여 육묘된 유묘를 사용하여 분화용 포트의 크기, 상토 혼합조성, 기비처리, 유묘의 소질 등의 이식조건과 추비농도, 차광정도, 왜화제 및 적심처리 등의 재배, 관리조건에 대한 생육효과를 2017년 7월 31일부터 10월 9일까지 약 10주간 조사하였다. 갯까치수염의 분화용 재배를 위해서, 피트모스:펄라이트(3:1) 혼합 용토에 $300-200-200mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$(N-P-K)의 비료분을 첨가한 토양을 이색칼라 10호 화분에 충진하여 코트비료 10알을 기비로 시비하고, 200구 트레이에 셀당 2립씩 파종된 묘를 이식묘로 사용하는 것이 갯까치수염의 생육에 가장 효과적이었다. 재배 및 관리방법으로는 차광처리는 하지 않고 재배하는 것이 생육에 좋으며, $250mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ hyponex를 추비하고 왜화제로 $500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ daminozide를 처리하는 것이 갯까치수염의 분화재배에 적합하였다. 또한, 재배기간이 10주 정도일 때는 적심을 하지 않는 것이 분화용 생산에 효과적일 것으로 판단되었다. 본 연구 결과는 다양한 활용성을 가진 야생 초화류의 이용성 및 부가가치 향상을 위한 대량생산 방법의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
