Relationship between Cucumber Yield and Nitrate Concentration in Plastic Film House with Ryegrass Application (호밀이 투입된 오이 시설재배지에서 수량과 토양용액의 질산태질소과의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to estimate the effect of nitrogen reduction by applying ryegrass and to determine the relationship between yield and nitrate concentration of soil solution for cucumber cultivation in plastic film house. Nitrogen levels with recovery of ryegrass ($42.3Mg\;ha^{-1}$) was 0, 50, 75, 100 % of 199 kg N $ha^{-1}$ as N recommendation by determining soil EC value. Yield and nitrate concentration in soil solution was investigated during cucumber cultivation. Yields of N treatments applied ryegrass showed 64.3, 70.9, 70.3, and $76.5Mg\;ha^{-1}$, respectively, it could reduce about 25-50% of nitrogen application compared to yield ($68Mg\;ha^{-1}$) of NPK plot applied 199 kg N $ha^{-1}$. Nitrate concentration in soil solution was average 26.0, 30.1, 41.4, $58.5mg\;L^{-1}$ during cucumber cultivation and was related between yield and average nitrate concentration of soil solution following as; $Y=49.3+0.63X+0.0034X^2$ ($R^2=0.778^{**}$). However, it needs to conduct extra-experiment due to high variation of nitrate concentration during cultivation periods.

Distribution and Leaching of Basal Nitrogen in Direct Seeding Rice on Dry Paddy (벼 건답직파 재배에서 기비질소의 토층간 분포와 용탈)

  • Urea, which is the major nitrogenous fertilizer used in Korea, has been used inefficiently in direct-seeding on dry soil by farmers. This study was conducted to investigate changes in concentrations of basal N within soil layers and its loss during early stage of rice growth. Urea fertilizer was applied in the rates of 7, 5.25, 3.5, 1.75, 0kg- N /10a under direct-seeded rice in dry paddy soil. The concentrations of ammonium and nitrate were determined in soil samples with different depths during period from seeding to the 3rd leaf stage. Futhermore, N leaching was measured in lysimeter designed with pot in greenhouse. ${NH_4}^+ \; and\; {NO_3}^-$ adsorption by soil increased with increasing concentration of added urea and decreased as deeper in soil layers. ${NH_4}^+$ concentration reached its peak at 7 days after urea application (DAA) and disappeared almostly at 14 DAA. ${NO_3}^-$ reached its peak at 10 DAA and decreased slowly until 14 DAA. ${NO_3}^-$N leaching started next day after urea application and completed until 11 DAA. We concluded that most of basal N applied to direct-seeded paddy was lost by leaching and not useful for rice plant which was in stage of germination. It is urgent need to develop new nitrogen application method for direct-seeding rice on dry soil.

Traffic and Cultural Practice Interactions on the Leaf and Soil Nitrogen Contents of 'Pennccross' Creeping Bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.) Fairway Turf (답압조건의 크리핑 벤트그라스 훼어웨이에서 여러 가지 잔디관리방법이 엽조직 및 토양 질소함유량에 미치는 상호작용효과)

  • Wear simulator로 답압이 가해진 크리핑 벤트그라스 (Agrostis palustris Huds.) 훼어웨이에서 관수방법·예지물 순환 및 질소시비수준의 여러 가지 잔디관리 요인이 엽조직 및 토양질소 함유량에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위해 본 연구를 수행하였다. 연구포장은 'Penncross'크리핑 벤트그라스 반디밭으로 1988년에 sharpsburg silty-clay loam (Typic Argiudoll) 토양에 조성하였으며, 실험은 1989년부터 1991년까지 3년간 수행하였다. Split-split-plot 실험디자인을 사용하여 주구에 daily or biweekly irrigation, 세구에 clipping return or removal, 세세구에 low-N (5g), moderate-N (15g), high-N (25g N m-2 yr-1)처리를 난괴법 3 반복으로 배치하였다. 생육기간중 잔디예초는 12mm 예고로 일주일에 4번 실시하였고, 기타 잔디관리는 high maintenance 수준으로 유지되는 한지형 양잔디 훼어웨이 기준으로 실시하였다. 엽조직 및 토양샘플은 1989년 2회, 1990년과 1991년에는 3회씩 채취하여, 네브라스카 주립대 토양식물분석실에서 분석하였다. 답압이 가해진 크리핑 벤트그라스 훼어웨이 잔디에서 엽조직 질소함유량은 여러 가지 잔디관리 방법간 상호작용 효과가 관찰되었다. 1989년 나타난 질소시비수준과 관수방법간의 상호작용에서 daily irrigation 지역의 엽질소 함유량은 질소시비량이 low-N 수준에서 high-N 수준으로 증가함에 따라 3.51%에서 3.94%로 quadratic pattern으로 증가하였다. High-N 처리지역에서 엽질소 함유량은 daily irrigation 관수방법이 biweekly irrigation 관수방법보다 약 4% 정도 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 엽질소 함유량은 특히 질소시비 수준에 따라 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 1990년 질소시비량이 low-N 수준에서 high-N 수준으로 증가함에 따라 3.50%에서 4.25%로 quadratic pattern으로 증가하였고, 1991년에는 4.20%에서 4.60%까지 linear pattern으로 증가하였다. High-N 처리구의 엽조직 질소함유량은 low-N 처리구와 비교시 1990년에는 21%, 1991년에는 10% 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 잔디조성후 시간이 경과함에 따라 엽조직의 질소함유량도 증가하였다. Low-N 수준에서 1991년 엽질소 함유량은 1990년에 비해 20% 증가하였으며, high-N 수준에서는 1991년의 엽조직 질소함유량이 1990년 보다 8% 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 잔디조성후 경과기간에 따라 연간 시비량을 조절할 필요가 있으며, 특히 새로 조성된 잔디밭과 조성된 지 어느 정도 지난 기존 잔디밭간에 차별화된 관리프로그램이 필요한 것으로 판단되었다. 잔디관리에서 답압이 가중되는 정도에 따라 지역별로 장기간 차별화된 관리 접근을 해야하고, 정기적으로 토양 및 엽분석을 실시해서 시비프로그램에 활용하는 것이 필요하다 하겠다. 본 연구결과 나타난 잔디관리 요인간 상호작용효과는 잔디관리시 여러 가지 관리방법에 따른 효과를 입체적으로 분석해서 해당 골프장 현실에 적합한 통합적인 잔디관리(integrated turfgrass management)의 필요성을 제시한다고 할 수 있겠으며, 또한 답압가중 정도에 따른 잔디관리요인간의 반응효과차이는 향후 무답압 지역에서 실시된 연구결과를 답압을 받고 있는 경기장 및 골프장 등의 잔디밭에 적용할 경우에는 주의깊게 데이터 활용을 해야 되리라고 사료되었다.

Study on Nutrient Balance in Paddy Field of Fluvio-Marine Deposit (하해혼성(河海混成) 논토양(土壤)의 양분수지(養分收支)에 관한 연구)

  • To test for the effect of applied fertilizer and nutrients on uptake and transport for paddy rice, two paddy field trials were conducted with Dongjinbyeo in degenerated salt paddy field of Jeonbuk series from 1999 to 2000. After experiment, soil acidity, content of organic matter phosphate, silicate, potassium, calcium, and total nitrogen was increased by application of fresh cattle manure(FCM). Content of Nitrogen in soil layer leached inorganic nitrogen $NO_3$ was higher that that of $NH_4$ and was high in treatment of FCM. Content of $PO_4$ was higher in FCM than other treatments. But content of potassium was in high control. During the growth of rice plant, the amount of water consumption was 477mm. The amount of supplied nitrogen was high in treatment of no nitrogen(NN), 20% reduced application of LCU(LCU-20%), and no fertilizer. In case of phosphate, the supplied amount was more than the consumed amount with the exception of treatment "no phosphate(NP) and no fertilizer(NF)". In case of potassium, the consumed amount was more than the supplied amount in all treatments. The amount of applied nitrogen in the nutrient infiltrated water was high in treatment soil test(ST), C+FCM+Si(Silicate) and the ratio of recovered nitrogen was high in 20% reduced application of LCU. The amount of applied phosphate in the nutrient infiltrated water was high in FCM and that of applied potassium was high in 20% reduced application of LCU. Nitrogen use efficiency of paddy rice was high in 20% reduced application of LCU and use efficiency of phosphate and potassium was high in C+Si(Silicate). Grain yield of rice was high in order of 20% reduced application of LCU>C+Si=C+FCM+Si>C+FCM.

Newly Recommended Rates of N P K Fertilizers Based on Soil Testing for Some Upland Crops (토양검정치(土壤檢定値)에 의한 몇가지 밭작물(作物)의 삼요소(三要素) 기준량(基準量) 조정(調整))

  • An attempt was made to investigate the yield response to the N P K fertilizer application for barley, soybean, corn, garlic, onion and potato in the famers' fields from 1971 to 1989. 1. The yield index of without-fertilizers plot when yield of N P K plot is regarded as 100, were 43~92 in plot without N, 71~94 in plot without $P_2O_5$ and 88~96 in plot without $K_2O$. The effects of each fertilizer application for upland crops were greater in barley, potato and corn for N, barley and soybean cultivated in reclaimed soil for $P_2O_5$ and potato and barley for $K_2O$. 2. The optimum levels of N, P and K fertilizers varied with the kinds of soil and crop in the ranges of 4.0~23.2kg/10a for N, 6.0~45.0kg/10a for $P_2O_5$ and 6.6~21.9kg/10a for $K_2O$. 3. The efficiencies of applied fertilizers were increased in cultivated soil in comparison with the reclaimed soil and the efficiencies were in order of potato, onion>barley, corn>soybean. 4. The regression equations of fertilizer recommendation for 5 crops excepting onion were obtained from relations between the organic matter in soil and the amount of N fertilizer applied, between the available $P_2O_5$ in soil and the amount of P fertilizer applied, and between the exchangeable K of soil and the amount of K fertilizer applied. 5. The reduced rates of P and K fertilizer application based on soil testing varied with regions in the ranges of 11.8~80.0 and 0~62.5%, respectively. And the recommendation for N fertilizer amount was necessary to increase or decrease depending on regions.

Impacts of Oyster Shell and Peat Treatments on Soil Properties in Continuous Watermelon Cropping Greenhouse Plots (패화석 및 이탄 처리가 수박 연작지 토양의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Soils in continuous monoculture cropping system generally have a number of physical and chemical problems. Thus, we studied to investigate selected soil properties in continuous watermelon cropping plots with applications of different soil management practices: 1) conventional farming practice (CFP), 2) chemical fertilizer management practice (FMP), the FMP with different amounts, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 t $ha^{-1}$, of oyster shell meal application (FMP-OS 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 t $ha^{-1}$), and 3) the FMP with different amounts, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 t $ha^{-1}$, of peat application (FMP-PT 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 t $ha^{-1}$) and also to evaluate watermelon quality. Soil pH slightly increased only in the FMP-OS 1.5 t $ha^{-1}$ plot, while it was not changed or decreased a little in other plots. The contents of soil organic matter (SOM) expectedly increased in the FMP-PT plots, whereas it markedly decreased in the FMP-OS plots. The concentrations of exchangeable cations, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, and $K^+$, in soils were mostly dropped down in most of the FMP and FMP-PT plots. Otherwise, the exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$ concentration increased a bit in the FMP-OS plots. Also, the concentrations of water-soluble anions, $NO_3^-$, $Cl^-$, ${SO_4}^{2-}$, and ${PO_4}^{3-}$, in soils mostly declined in all the plots applied with the different management practices during the study years. Due to the cation and anion decreases, the electrical conductivity (EC) values in the soils were greatly reduced in the plots. Thus, the soil management practices applied, especially oyster shell meal and peat treatments, might be useful to control soil conditions. However, watermelon quality, such as sugar content and fruit weight, would not be associated with the soil management practices applied.

Growth and Yield of Strawberry $(Fragaria\;\times\;ananassa\;Duchesne)$ 'Nyoho' and Salt Accumulation in PE Film House Soil as Affected by Fertilization Program (시비방법이 무기염의 토양집적과 딸기 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was conducted to determine the effect of fertilization programs on crop growth, nutrient uptake and yield of strawberry and salt accumulation in PE film house soil. To achieve these, experiments were conducted through two years with various fertilization program such as traditional fertilization(A), recommended fertilization of Rural development administration (B), Tochigi prefectural experiment station (C) and Nonsan strawberry experiment station (D), and control (E). In 1st year, statistical differences in growth characteristics were not observed among treatments except (E). Yield per 10 was the highest in (D) followed by (A), (B), (C) and (E) and there was the statistical difference between (D) and (E). In the 2nd year experiment, growth characteristics and yield showed similar trends to those of 1st year experiment. In the results of soil analysis of 2nd year, the soil pH of all treatments were in the acceptable range, while electrical conductivity of (A) and (D) were 2.36 and 2.19 %$dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$, respectively. After finishing of strawberry cultivation, nitrate concentration in soil solution of (A) and (D) were 74.6 and 65.0%$mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and Na in those were 3.71 and 3.53 $cmol+kg^{-1}$, respectively. Above results indicated that (A) and (D) were good fertilization program for strawberry cultivation, but those also resulted in accumulation of $NO_{3-}N$ and Na in PE house soil.

Growth Response of Zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica Steud.) as Affected by Nitrogen Fertilizer Application Rate (질소비료 시비량에 따른 들잔디의 생육반응)

  • This study was conducted to find out the optimum nitrogen fertilization for production of good quality and high yield zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica Steud.), the changes in chemical properties of soil in pot and field experiments treated with different levels of nitrogen fertilizer. In pot experiment, the fresh and dry weights of shoots and stolons and the number of shoots increased as nitrogen levels increased, and showed no significant between 24 and $48kg\;N\;10\;a^{-1}$. In field experiment, the shoot length, fresh and dry weights of shoots, roots and stolons, the number of shoots and total stolons length linearly increased as affected by increased nitrogen application, and were not significantly different between 24 and $32kg\;N\;10\;a^{-1}$. In both experiments, pH and exchangeable cations ($Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$) in soil decreased as the rate of nitrogen application increased. As a results, chemical properties of soil were more deteriorated in the plots of higher nitrogen fertilizer rate. Thus, these results demonstrated that the nitrogen fertilizer rate for maximum growth of zoysiagrass was $24kg\;N\;10\;a^{-1}$ in consideration of growth and soil condition.

Relevance of soil testing on mineral nitrogen in organic farming with regard to water protection (상수도보호구역내에서의 유기농업을 위한 토양진단 시비처방법)

  • 농업영농활동으로 인한 지하수와 지표수오염이 증가함에 따라 유럽연합(EU)과 각국 정부는 상수원보호를 위한 규제를 마련해 나가고 있다. 농민들의 영농활동을 제한하는 이러한 각종 규제에도 불구하고, 농지로부터 유입되는 상수원의 질산염 함량과 농약농도는 계속적으로 증가하고 있다. 지하수 용탈(질산염)과 지표수 유거(인산염, 농약)는 상수원오염은 주범으로 인식되고 있으며, 어느 지역 상수원의 질산염 오염 위험성은 1) 년간 양분균형 계산, 2) 규칙적 토양질산염 분석 등에 의해 파악이 가능하다. 질산염 용탈 이전에 토양질산염 분석을 통한 토양진단은 질산염 용탈 위험성과 작부체계의 지속성에 대한 필수적인 정보들을 제공하게 된다. 유기질비료를 다량 투입하는 유기농업의 지속성은 1) 양분균형의 과다 계산(질소, 인산, 칼리), 2) 토양질산염진단법, 3) 경운층의 토양인산진단법 등에 평가될 수 있다. 상수원을 가장 효과적으로 보호하기 위해서는 토양진단 최적시비전략과 작부체계가 함에 개발되어져야 한다.

Recommendation of NPK Fertilizers for Chinese Cabbage and Spinach Based on Soil Testing (토양검정(土壤檢定)에 따른 배추와 시금치의 NPK 시비추천(施肥推薦))

  • It is common that in the vegetable cultivation areas, the farmers tend to continue the heavy fertilization to maximize the crop yields in short term. This results in the accumulation of fertilizer elements in the soil and increase in the electrical conductivity of soil. Disregarding these, farmers continue to apply heavy doses of fertilizers. A field experiment was conducted to find out on such a soil whether fertilizer application taking the quantity of nutrients accumulated in the soil into account would save the fertilizer without losing the yield of crop, using Chinese cabbage and spinach as test crops. The findings of the experiment is summarized as following. 1. The yield of Chinese cabbage was not affected by reduction of $19kg\;P_2O_5/10a$ and $7kg\;K_2O/10a$ as compared to farmers doses, and in case of spinach the yield rather was increased under the reduction of $22kg\;P_2O_5/10a$ and $22kg\;K_2O/10a$. 2. The reduction of fertilizers according to plant nutrient status of soils did not affect the inorganic nutrient contents of the crops significantly, in both Chinese cabbage and spinach. 3. A trend was observed that the reduction in the P and K fertilizers application would shorten the storage period of Chinese cabbage. 4. The reduction in P and K fertilizers application resulted in the reduction in available P, exchangeable K, EC and $NO_3-N$ in the soil after the harvest of the crops.
